  1. All of this. Especially the last part. However I remember what it was like when I didn't make the power, I blamed Hypergear straight away too. Get rid of your craptastic boost controller and see how things go. 306hp @14psi isn't bad, these turbos only really come alive with higher boost. I'm sure you will see the power. don't start going off at Stao though, the man is legendary in going out of his way to help you.
  2. Nope, didn't change anything at all. While I was at Hyperdrive we tried everything; dropping the exhaust, checking the intake piping, checking coil packs, checking fuel, checking for leaks of any sort, pressure testing the intercooler, comp testing the motor... Even went as far as getting Stao to replace my turbo with one he had tested on his car, he literally ran it on the dyno to be sure it made the power then pulled it off and mailed it to me. Nothing made the slightest difference. Spent so much money changing things and checking things and paying for dyno hire. Then tried taking it to Sean. Bam, instant change. I however also do not think Sean is your problem. With Andy, he was never keen on me using the Hypergear turbo. He just doesn't like them, and when we weren't getting the power he instantly blamed the turbo and said it was dodgy results coming from over east, nothing more. Sean was perfectly happy to use the Hypergear, and asked plenty of questions about my setup and what I was expecting. Then when he gave it back he said the turbo probably had a bit more in it, but he wasn't too keen to wind up the boost on the stock motor.
  3. Yeh it wasn't a crack at you or any other tuners, it's just how it is. I understand that tuners are busy and setting the light load cells up for the road is not something that most tuners worry about, they just get it to run decently with safe AFR's and then the work is in the rest of the tune. I imagine if tuners started setting up this area of the map fully, then customers would simply start complaining at having to pay more and not getting their car back quickly. I do, I've been meaning to upload it since I got it haha. Haven't had a chance yet, scanner is still packed in a box somewhere Your graph does slightly resemble my old tune at Hyperdrive: As soon as it hit full boost, power just started dropping off. But my new power curve from Allstar looks nothing like that anymore, it looks like most of the graphs that Stao and others have posted up.
  4. It's called rapid acceleration. I don't like it, but I can see why it's not allowed. Shouldn't really be classed as hooning though, maybe careless driving.
  5. 100% this. I don't do any freeway driving, I actually get worse economy on the freeway sitting at 100/110 (haven't sorted out that part of my tune yet). But my daily trek to uni is mostly 70/90km/h cruising. I don't get muuuuch difference between highway cruising and stop start traffic conditions though, maybe about 580-590 for driving around town. I'll hit full boost a couple times a day, other than that I drive it like I would any other car. The trick is to set your tune up to the way you drive and the roads you drive, it's very difficult for a tuner to do that for you, especially on a dyno. My petrol tank is 55L, I have come very close to running it dry lol. I usually fill up as soon as the light comes on, usually takes about 50L to fill up.
  6. No doubt. The fact that the article says two "Nissan Skylines" should give an indication to how much the author knows
  7. In reality there is a difference though. There's a lot of variables that can affect the tune, and what one tuner considers safe and good may just be a poor tune to someone else. I picked up 60rwhp and about 600rpm of response just by changing tuner. Even if I ignore the number because I changed dyno as well, the car is definitely fast now. For example, you believe your fuel economy is good. If I were getting 400kms to a tank, I'd be annoyed. I get 600kms to a tank. Difference in tune.
  8. Yeh, but then look at my setup. I'm using a smaller turbo than you and I made 350 on Allstar's dyno. I'm sure yours is capable of more, and the fact that it's making almost peak power at 4500rpm backs that theory up. When are you hitting full boost?
  9. Those are both roller dynos, and I hardly got any impressive results there OP's at Allstar. Fair enough. It's hard to comment without looking at the graph. My results were more impressive at Allstar, but I still didn't see the same results they are getting over east. My original tuner (Andy at Hyperdrive) told me to be skeptic of any results coming from over east, he doesn't trust them. But then I look at the job he did tuning my car and I wonder... Not to get into a slogging match though, I still think he is a good tuner and a quality bloke. I just happened to be better off at Allstar.
  10. Was there knock? Fuel shouldn't affect anything unless you were getting detonation. Does Sean have any ideas? Has he checked your EGT's and intake temps??
  11. Speaking of, any chance you could upload the dyno graph??
  12. Yes, I'm currently making about 260rwkw. Thing is with sending off my turbo for Stao to modify, I live in Perth... So that's a huge down time for my daily I've got the G2, .64 housing. It's still just as quick, it still scares the pants off any mates that get in my car. It's just that I'm used to it now, 350rwhp got old quicker than I expected No E85 in Perth, not at the pump anyway. I know forging won't give more power haha, I meant that when I can afford it I might forge and go for 500+.
  13. Clutch?
  14. It says two Nissan Skylines, where does it say anything about a 34 or 35 GTR?
  15. I'd say custom would be your best bet. Find a double din pocket, then modify it to suit with fiberglass. Would be very easy to do.
  16. Nonsense, my mate entered his car last year on a rune in tune
  17. You do get used to it though, very quickly Already considering upgrading again. But the amount of money I would need to spend just to get 40-50 more hp, can't justify it at the moment. Maybe when I can afford to forge then I'll go all out.
  18. I had 244 last year man, still had a blast
  19. I think we have already established that his car has problems Socs
  20. Something not right with my car lol, give me a break I'm new to tuning! I get 600kms to a tank with my daily driving habits, that's better than most... I just haven't figured out the right mixtures for the higher load/RPM cells yet, if I go much leaner than it's set at now (around 14.7 - 13.8) then the car starts to surge. Also the transient throttle enrichment goes a bit off when I make it leaner, so for now I've left it where it is. I have a feeling Andy didn't set my injector latency up quite right when he tuned my car, so it messes with the target AFR's a bit. I don't want to adjust it though cos it will throw out my high load/RPM cells and I don't wanna tune them on the street This. Octane booster is shit, stay away from it. Just run the 91 as Jonno said, it will be fine on the stock ECU as long as you're driving gently.
  21. First of all the TP cut differs from car to car, mine was cutting at 11psi whereas others I have seen can run 11,12,13 before they hit it. Secondly, you realize that 13-14psi through a larger turbo is NOT the same as 13-14 psi through the stock turbo right? The engine reads mass air flow, not restriction. You will be running rich as all hell, and if you hit TP cut (which I'm sure you will) then it will feel like you're hitting a wall every time you come on boost. It will always surprise me how many people want to leave the ECU to the last thing they mod, when really it should be done first. Get an ECU. Get a proper tune.
  22. Good son of rajab that must have been running ridiculously lean at around 3000rpm, did you ever notice surging??? I get worse economy driving at 100/110kms, a good 3L per 100km worse than I do at 80/90km. The engine just needs that much more fuel at that load/rpm.
  23. I see, thanks guys
  24. Quick question for those using the UEGO, is the gauge supposed to not give a reading on decel? I installed my kit the other day, but haven't had much chance to play around with it yet. On the one drive I took it on, I noticed the gauge would display "- - -" while on decel, is that supposed to happen? I thought it may have been because there won't be much air going into the engine on decel, but then I thought surely if it gives a reading at idle then it should give a reading while it's in gear?
