  1. Nothing will look as good as the factory gauge holder. There is a DIY on here that shows you exactly where to cut. As long as you cut smaller than you think, it's always possible to trim a little more off Or take it to an upholsterer and show them the pictures from the DIY, they will easily be able to do it.
  2. Stao, quick question since you mentioned the oil/water lines. Since I replaced my turbo, I've had a fairly slow oil and water leak. Definitely coming from the turbo lines, but I've checked the nuts and they are tight. We definitely put the washers back on and they were in good condition (in fact I seem to recall you gave me new ones for the coolant lines, so they were brand new). Before I pull it apart again, anything I should do??
  3. They fit terribly
  4. Yeh +1 for stock replacement, I'm sure I saw one recently for $200. They aren't expensive or hard to find at all.
  5. Oh yeh, it's not for my car lol. It's for a mates car, he has a 32. We have been looking for awhile but most places are ridiculously expensive and carmate have a different one which looks strange. Thanks mate
  6. Anyone have any ideas?
  7. Well yeh, but personally I wouldn't want a free handout. There are far worse things in the world than someone stealing my car.
  8. Where are you getting that from? I can't find any except on carmate, but theirs looks funny.
  9. With a good quality high flow cat you can pass an EPA. I think given there is barely any difference between a good high flow and a 3" decat, the high flow is the better option.
  10. Yeh bubba is using NIStune in his Stag. Not sure if he ended up removing the Haltech he had in there originally, but I think he is just using the NIStune now. I don't see why it wouldn't work anyway. That's the big thing about NIStune, it keeps ALL your factory settings. So anything you don't change is still going to be the same.
  11. Spotted a silver R32 GTR V-Spec II on Reid Hwy yesterday at about 11am. Gave late thumbs up but don't think driver saw me anyway. Also had a play with what I think was a Ferrari F430 (I'm useless with exact models lol) coming onto the freeway from Hutton St. Sounded amazing. I love Osbourne Park
  12. No that would be a gutted cat. A decat is just a straight piece of pipe with flanges on it. Very easy to tell.
  13. Yeh I installed my turbo and drove around with it untuned a few days before I could get my car in to be tuned. No dramas, just don't boost as has been said
  14. This seems most likely to me, I highly doubt they got into the car without setting off the alarm, bypassed the keypad and disabled the immobilizer, all without the keys. Ahhh some people really should have been swallowed Sorry to hear mate, I'll keep an eye out.
  15. Depends how you look at it. He charges $600 to install a daughter-board and write up a basic tune for it. Then he recommends that you go and put it on the dyno to check that it's safe. So probably $100-$200 dyno time. So it would probably cost you ~$700-$800 by the time you get it on the road. Most workshops will install and tune a Nistune board for ~$900, and then it's a proper tune setup for your car specifically, not just generically. Personally, I would rather pay that extra little bit to get a proper tune done.
  16. Pretty much NIStune but not as good.
  17. Yep +1 for Hyperdrive, Andy is awesome Has retuned my car free of charge on a number of occasions now, and always willing to help me out and squeeze my car in when he is busy. Haven't dealt with Ovaboost, but have only heard good things about them too. I'd feel safe taking my car to either workshop, I just go back to Andy because he knows me and my car now.
  18. How poor was the fitment, was it noticeable just looking at it? A mate of mine has a front bumper and vented bonnet on his GTS4 that he got from carmate, looks good from what I can see. Never looked close enough to see any imperfections in fitment though.
  19. I'd say it would work... But why bother? I haven't heard great things about Tomei turbochargers. It's a fair bit of messing around for the gain. Yeh it's a decent price and all, but for just a little bit more you could get a good Garrett or HKS kit that will bolt straight on and from what I've heard, work better. A HKS GTRS would be a good turbo for your goals? On an off topic note... Where abouts in Germany are you? I'm from Kiefersfelden myself Was on the lookout for high performance imports when I was over there in January, best I got was a Legnum and a Stag Good to know there are others getting around
  20. Where is it leaking from?
  21. Don't get a second hand filter, it's not like they are that expensive in the first place. I'd be more comfortable using a brand new cheapie pod than I would using someone elses sloppy seconds. $90 for an Apexi Power Intake kit. If your intake plumbing is all standard you could get a box for around $100. I would recommend making your own box though, I made mine for around $40 and that's on the expensive side. James is a huge fan of my box, aren't ya Jimmy? There's a DIY for it on here, it's easy to do. If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of custom work
  22. If you're not making a lot of power with lots of boost, a $30 cheapie from your local car store will be fine. In fact, a study done in AutoSalon magazine (I think 2007, can' remember issue) showed that 3A Racing (cheap no-name brand) had the best flow and filtration compared to other brands like Apexi, HKS, Trust, K&N, etc. I've heard since then that these cheap pods are not made out of a strong material, and the foam can get sucked into your turbo and engine under high flow. Personally I use an Apexi Power Intake, sounds amazing and I don't notice a difference between other types of pods. In reality, there is probably <1% difference between all of them in terms of noticeable affect.
