  1. His point would be that the heat made him lose power, meaning his car would have more than the power figure it pulled on the dyno
  2. PM Clint on here mate, username: monga. His kits are very good quality and he can give you a good price.
  3. To be honest wouldn't have a clue if it would work, but why not simply turbo model brakes? GTST brakes are pretty good, especially with some slotted rotors and decent brake fluid. Could also go GTR model Brembo's, but seeing as they are not really that much better than standard Sumitomo's it would be a bit of a waste of money unless you can find them for cheap. Would be far easier than trying to replace the whole set up with 300ZX stuff?
  4. Lol it's gonna be a shock going from your ~600-1000km a tank fuel consumption, down to like 400km a tank. Much more fun though, welcome back to the world of real cars
  5. Generally they are quite reliable dude, but i wouldn't be buying a high performance car for reliability...
  6. Fair enough Jason Just food for thought
  7. By that reasoning, you should also replace all gaskets, hoses, seals, brake master cylinder, brake booster, gearbox synchros, etc... all of these things are known to go and can cause very expensive problems. My point is you can't say a stock standard car will be more reliable than a modified car
  8. According to the mechanic rebuilding it (very renowned mechanic, definitely knows his stuff), the damage is in no way down to the way it was driven. Was simply a mechanical failure. Oil pump failed i believe, IIRC
  9. Hypothetically of course James
  10. No guarantees on a clean stock car not screwing you over... James' old R33 GTR is currently having HUGE problems, very expensive repairs needed.
  11. +1 ^
  12. Does affect handling but in a good way. Stiffer springs = less body roll and better handling. As said, you don't want to lower the front too much, but a little bit shouldn't make a difference.
  13. Yeh when they compress springs they just put a spring compressor clamp on them instead of physically cutting them. Your best option (if you don't want to go all out with coilover suspension), would be to replace the springs with lowered king springs. Not that much more expensive than chopping or compressing, but definitely a better option.
  14. These days official emails are considered signed legal documents, even if they don't have your signature on them. So if he has said in an email that he will hold the car and the guy has put a deposit down then yes, there is an obligation there to hold the car for them. However i don't remember reading anywhere that this potential interstate buyer had put a deposit down, nor that he had said he would hold it for him. Just that he was flying over from Adelaide to look at it. If this guy had actually put a deposit down on the car, or had an agreement with the owner to hold it for him... Why would the owner even bother getting it inspected and things for Jason? I know i would just say "look i'm holding the car for someone, if it falls through then i'll let you know".
  15. Of course i'd be pissed off but you have to be logical, if you're so prepared to fly over to the other side of the country just to look at a car, then you have to be prepared for the possibility that that car will not be the one you will be purchasing. Have a look in the import threads, see how many of those guys have flown to places like Japan, over east, all over the place, simply looking for a car but still haven't found one. Don't expect a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
  16. Tough shit, that's the risk you take when you go on a trip like that. There is absolutely no obligation to sell to someone just because they are coming from further away. You sell to the person who has the cash, not the person willing to travel further. How would you feel if you told a serious potential buyer that they couldn't have the car because someone was coming from over east to look at it, then the guy shows up and decides he doesn't want the car. Then you've lost the sale.
  17. Yeh absolute bullshit. No way anyone is going to give some guy a free flight over here just to come and look at the car. Either they can spare the expense and come look at it, or they can find a car in their own region. It's a risk you take that the car will be sold to someone else. No chance he is paying for this guys trip
  18. I don't see how. If he has not had any signed agreement with the other buyer than he is under no obligation to sell it to him. In any case, you will probably find that there is no buyer from over east and the owner is just using that story to pressure you into buying. Why would the buyer be bringing 42k when the car is only advertised for 40.8k? Don't be pressured into buying it, make sure you buy it on your own terms.
  19. Yeh +1 for manual conversion. I wouldn't sell it in the current market, you might as well give it away. Convert it to manual, then sell for bucket loads when the market goes back up
  20. Sulfur?
  21. Although keep in mind the car market right now, cars just aren't selling for much. It's a good time to buy and a poor time to sell. For that price you could get it checked out, and if anything needs fixing you could fix it and still be in the black
  22. Yeh except final cost would be around $2000 considering freight to get it from PERTH to Sydney... Vish any suspension shop will be able to compress your springs mate, but that's actually just how the car sits. The rear guard is lower than the front, same as on a Statesman if you've seen em... Back tyres are half covered by the guards, but front tyres are clearly visible (not as extreme in your case obviously). If you draw a straight line between the rear guard and the front guard you will see what i'm talking about
  23. Lol well remember my team went 25 minutes in the wrong direction at the very first leg! And we still won I love the mystery time
  24. Allstar Garage are my favs... Sean is the best in my opinion. No harm getting a second test done though, better to be safe than sorry, especially if the owner is paying for it. How long in advance did you book in at Allstar lol, they book out like 2 weeks in advance... Suppose it wasn't being tuned though. Definitely walk away from it if the tests come back dodgy, there are plenty of R34's out there, would suck if you bought one of the lemons.
