  1. Hey all, I installed a vacuum gauge on my car about 2 months ago, and noticed it never reaches 0 when i put my foot flat to the floor. It usually stops at about 5, and i read recently that this could be due to free-play in my throttle, restricting pressure. Does anyone know how to check and correct this? Cheers, Martin
  2. Wait so you dont know what its called... but its called throttle control Lol i love how this thread is two pages of trying to figure out what the OP means haha. I have definitely experienced what X-Trail was saying, with the too low revs causing the car to lurch horribly. Because of that, i engine brake down to about 20kms if im slowing to a stop, but i don't bother going to 1st, i just put it in neutral otherwise it jumps a bit. But i don't see how going over a bump would cause that. From what Joe is saying it is the bump causing the car to bounce up which brings the accelerator up against his foot (I can't imagine it is G-forces pushing your foot down lol, that would be some insane vertical G's), and then this occurs several times causing the car to lurch... Am i on the right track Joe?
  3. Hmmm i think i get it, seem to remember this happening when i was first on my L's... No offense intended with that lol. Just that in my first car i learned to do what these guys are saying, balance your foot on the accelerator and make sure your heel isn't on the floor. In the Skyline it doesn't happen to me anymore because i make sure to not go over said bumps lol, ive replaced one rim already from Perth's sweet road surfaces, making sure it doesn't happen again
  4. I don't think he means speed bump, just any bump... I can't say i have experienced this though lol. Maybe i have, but i wouldn't describe it the same way as you haha. Don't really understand

My mate has a sports bike that he would like to enter, can i just get him to fill out the form, he doesn't have to be associated with any club or anything?
  6. Lol how fast are you going over said bumps? Because if you are going fast enough for the G-forces to push your foot down, i really wouldn't be worried about the embarrassment of lurching lol...
  7. I know someone who flew over to Japan, spent a week looking at potential cars, a couple of cars each day, then eventually he picked an R34 GTR. He went through all the processes, eventually got it over here and in his driveway for a final price of $38700... And discovered the whole underneath of the car was corroded and everything needed to be replaced including things like the petrol tank, etc. Getting the car into the condition he thought it was ended up costing him another $25000. So in the end it was a lot more expensive, and a lot more hassle and heart ache to import than it would have been to buy locally. I would talk to someone like Iron Chef (Kristian is on these forums), someone who knows exactly what they are doing. I wouldn't risk importing a car without the help of someone experienced, they have faced the risks before and know what to look for. They have proper mechanics over in Japan that go and inspect the cars, and they are very very strict on which cars they confirm as suitable. All this info is shown to you, along with pictures of the cars, etc. They handle everything, pretty much all you need to do is pick a car and pay for it. These professional importers are well worth the extra cost in my opinion

  14. If they drove a 34 or 35 GTR they could... or if they rode a CBR 929 Fireblade, 0-100 in 3.2
  15. Lol well unless you walk around with the money in your hand, nobody knows you have cash, so if you get bashed then you were going to get bashed whether you had cash or no cash. Unlucky about getting skimmed though mate, any idea when you get your money back?
  16. Im pretty sure i saw this guy driving your car Paul. Except he had a devilish look on his face and i swear i saw a tail. Was traveling at a fair rate of knots... Hmmm on second thoughts im pretty sure it was you

How about a category for "Best Naturally Aspirated Car". Then i have a chance Maybe... lol
  18. Yeh i got that same list. They told me that they were cancelling my card and said i should destroy it, but then the bank had no application for cancellation of the card. It is odd i agree
  19. Oh yeh, hell no i wasn't putting petrol in my car, just that peak in mundaring is an IGA as well, i always go there to buy things. Never petrol though lol. There is insurance for people that have money skimmed, as long as they didn't contribute in any way to the money being taken. I think it is just easier to use cash, rather than get my card cancelled, wait for my new card (and have to use cash in the mean time), go back to using card, card gets compromised again, cancel card, wait for new card, etc.
  20. Yeh pretty much every mcdonalds in Perth has been affected. And lots of Peak stations. Few other places, but they are the most widely affected, and it started with mcdonalds
  21. No chance lol, the woman calling sounded at least 40. I know what all my mates sound like, not too mention they read out some of my recent transactions? My number is in the phone book, if they skimmed my card details then they would know my full name, not a very common last name, easy to find my number. It may have been a legit call from the bank, but the fact that it was a withheld number, they didn't answer the phone first time, they asked me for details which the bank said they would never do (Also what Joe said about confirming my identity), and the woman told me my card had been cancelled and then the bank said there had been no record of any phone call, nor had there been any application to cancel my card. I didn't lose any money, but i am very sure that had i not called the bank then i would have. There are a few known affected areas near me, namely Peak in Mundaring. Thats where i wouldve been affected as i don't eat mcdonalds
  22. Haha yeh its been there the whole time bro
  23. Hey all, Im not sure if im posting this in the right section, i was going to post it in the wasteland but thought it may get more attention here? If any of the mods want to move it then i have no complaints, i just thought i should warn people. Basically i have just been caught out by the ATM and EFTPOS skimming/PIN capturing that some of you may have heard about. If you are not aware, what happens is electronic devices are fitted to the ATM or EFTPOS device at retail outlets, so that when a customer uses their card, the device records their details. I was aware of these scams going on, and as such had not been using my card for anything other than internet transactions. If i needed money i went into the bank and withdrew it. So what happened to me was about 20 minutes ago i received a phone call from a withheld number. I answered, and could hear people talking, but no one replied when i said hello multiple times. I hung up, and they called back straight away. This time when i answered, a woman on the other end said she was calling from BankWest in relation to a suspicion they have that my card has been compromised. She proceeded to ask me about some recent transactions i had made with my card (Knowing the exact price, time, location, and business the transactions were for, including one i had made about 10 minutes earlier). She then said that while none of my transactions were fraudulent, the bank believed that my card had been compromised and they would be issuing me with a new card. She asked me to provide her with my full name and address as proof of identification, which i gave her, and she then told me to destroy my card and a new one would be issued in 10 days. So i went and straight away destroyed my card, thinking damn i tried so hard to avoid getting done and ended up getting done anyway. But after a good 5 minutes of thinking about it, i decided the call seemed pretty suspicious, especially considering it was a withheld number and they didn't answer the first time they called. So i phoned my bank to double check. The woman asked me a whole bunch of details to confirm my account, and then said the bank had no record of any calls being made to me, nor any reason to believe my card had been compromised. She proceeded to tell me that the bank would never ask for any of my details unless i had called them. When i asked why they would ask for those details she said because they would already have all my card details from their device on the ATM or EFTPOS device. So in order to gain access to my account, all they would need to do is phone the bank and provide my card number, full name, address and account number. So i got her to cancel my card, and issue a new one for real this time. So i was very very lucky that i decided to double check with my bank, and i recommend that if anyone receives a phone call like this, provide the caller with false information. If they accept the information then you know that they are frauds. In any case, as soon as you hang up the phone, call your bank to double check that everything is ok
  24. Hahaha best reply ever
