Hey everyone, Little unsure if im posting this in the right section, so if im wrong then mods im sorry Anyway, i am currently making another cold air intake on my car, and i am after a hole saw around 80mm, as i bought some 76mm intake ducting. At this stage i believe i have two options, one would be if someone has a metal cutting hole saw around this size, could i please borrow it??? The other would be to find out where i could buy a hole saw around this size. I went to bunnings, and they want $75 for the saw, and $40 for the mandrel to use it! That's just ridiculous, so does anyone know where else i could find hole saws? If it isnt made for metal and i mess up the saw then it doesnt really bug me, i only want it to cut the hole. Cheers for any help

Lol yeh, make sure you get a boss kit, its illegal for your indicators not to self cancel... Wouldn't want your illegal steering wheel to be twice as illegal

I just went to the police station with the papers from my sticker as well as a note from the inspector at the pits backing up my story, told them i had been stickered by this officer and when i went to the pits the inspector had laughed at what was on there. I said i wanted to know why i had to pay almost $100 for a perfectly legal car to be inspected, when the policemen that yellowed me had claimed themselves experts. Kicked up a huge fuss about it and demanded to speak to the officers that had given me the sticker. Waited around for them to come back from duty, and then when i questioned the guy about it he admitted that he had been wrong and was not actually aware of what was defectable. He thought my HID ballasts were a NOS system just as an example of his 'expert knowledge'. Not too mention he questioned the factory "S" badge on the bonnet, and tried to tell me that either i had put the badge on myself which he claimed is illegal, or i had an aftermarket bonnet which is also illegal Intelligent man... So anyway, after all this arguing they agreed i was correct, and a few weeks later cheque arrived in the mail Not really sure if the money was worth all the effort, but i was more after getting one over the traffic-bullies. Tell you what, a win felt good P.S. Also congrats on the outcome Storm, always good to get justice
-
Hahahaha make it sound like win lol. That's awesome haha

Worked for me, I got full reimbursement for the first pit visit, given that everything the officer put down on the sticker was laughable. The cops can sticker you for whatever they want, thing is technically they have to be right about it. They are not meant to sticker you unless they know you car is defectable. Some cops still do, and they are taking the chance that you won't make a complaint about it. I did, and i got my money back
-
I was told by two different inspectors at the pits 2 weeks ago that the length of time they put on the sticker is relevant to the seriousness of what you are being stickered for...
-
Lol fail ^ Thats ridiculous they only gave you until the 10th, if what they are putting on the sticker isnt a danger to anyone, they are meant to give you 2 weeks. Definitely be making a complaint man
-
Wouldn't be too concerned about it mate, if your car is all legal then it will get over the pits fine, then good ol' mr. officer has signed his name on the papers, you take that to the police station, say you would like to make a complaint and you want reimbursement for any money you lost going over the pits. All that is considering you need to go to the pits, not sure what happens because of the license plate error... Should find out about that, but i imagine you would just have to correct it and go over the pits anyway

What Can I Modify Without Approval?.... And Im240 Update.
Hanaldo replied to a topic in Western Australia
Yeh no, fair call, i wasn't really being specific to his mods, was just saying insurance will require legal mods. Those mods won't have any dramas, just saying that if you were to be doing a mod that may be considered illegal, then you had best get it done legally to avoid trouble -

Mmm im pretty sure for insurance to be valid, the mods need to be legal, as they may claim it was your modification that caused the car to crash or sustain or inflict heavy damage. Permits will counter any claims the insurance may have that your mods are not safe. If it were me i would rather know they were legal, pits and engineers will not usually give you a hard time as long as your mods are actually safe and legal. Cops on the other hand would love you to not have permits -
Yeh that sucks man, stupid law. Funny though haha, when i spotted you driving down the great eastern yesterday i actually thought to myself "he still has the white P-Plates, i wonder if he gets in trouble for that"
-
Yeh im pretty sure you will find the cop was either misinformed or he was just trying to find an excuse to sticker you. Did you actually get stickered or did he just let you know? If you did get stickered, i would go to the pits and find out the story, as im pretty sure Nic is right when he says they are legal up to 2" bigger, and then you have to use smaller profile tyres to maintain rolling diameter. If it turns out the cop was wrong, then i would make a complaint, cops really need to know what they are talking about when they go around handing out stickers and we pretty much end up paying a $150 fine trying to get it over the pits

A couple of guys were selling them on here a few weeks ago, have you searched the for sale forum?
-
Can i sit in the back seat? Ill eat my pizza quietly... Lol seriously though man, sounds like an awesome plan. I definitely plan on doing this one day when i get my GTR, possibly the day i get it if i buy it from interstate... Ill be following the thread for sure mate, and congratulations on the anniversary!
-
Lol ok ^^^ So no-one can lend me their factory pedals?
-
See that's what i thought and what i was told when i bought these ones, they have plenty of rubber on them, but the inspector said i need to restore them to factory
-
So ill get things started, would anyone be able to lend me their factory rubber pedals? When i bought the car, the owner had removed the accelerator rubber and replaced it with one of those crappy, cheap Malz brand pedals. I have since installed Isotta racing pedals, but inspector at the pits told me i need to restore them to the factory rubber ones. Can anyone help me out? Cheers, Martin

Hey guys and girls, I did a search and noticed a few of the other state sections have a stickied thread for this, but couldnt find anything in WA. Basically people just post up things that they need to borrow or things they can lend to other people in order to pass the pits. Not saying this should be an alternative to getting permits for mods, just for cases like mine, where the previous owner of the car removed some factory items which i now need to pass the pits. So if people find this thread useful then maybe a mod could sticky it. Cheers, Martin ***Please note. SAU takes no responsibility for any items lent/borrow/swapped or similar in this thread. If you wish to lend something to someone then you do so at your own risk. By using this thread, you are agreeing to the aforementioned condition***

Well actually when i got yellow stickered i wasn't doing anything wrong, the cop followed me all the way from Midland to Glen Forrest, i was watching him the whole way. He would change lanes whenever i did just to stay behind me. Then he pulled me over, bam, yellow sticker. Awesome news about the test, hopefully they can work something out that is fair this time
-
Well the last i heard about the IM240 was that it had been introduced, and has now been taken out due to the circumstances, so if you want to get an exhaust i would read up about the IM240, find out the latest news, and if it hasnt been introduced yet, get the exhaust quick smart
-
Guy at the pits didnt say anything about my staggered wheels
-
I think everyone is over these threads, but we have been getting a lot of stickers lately, so i guess its to be expected. Might as well help Tristan out, never know when one of us is gonna need help. Tristan i would say Brad is pretty much spot on, everyone will give you a different answer about where to go, so just go to the most convenient one for you. Make sure everything is working, especially your park lights, they dont even like dull park lights, they gotta be bright. Just listen to the instructor and do what he tells you, basically if everything is legal then you are going to pass, the inspectors are usually quite good. Good luck man
