Hey everyone, Got pulled over by cops 20m away from my house of all places, real nice guys, just pulled me over because the light above the license plate had fallen down. He wasn't sure about my exhaust so wanted to write me out a yellow sticker just to get the exhaust checked out, but he had run out of paper work, so he called some 'experts' to come have a look and bring some more canaries. Took 45 minutes for them to get there which was a load of crap seeing as they were coming from Midland and im in Glen Forrest, they were driving the new XR6 Turbo, more high performance vehicle than mine, and then they started picking my car to shreds. Here is what i got done for: GTR Spoiler = aftermarket Eyelids on the headlights = illegal apparently Xenon headlights = also illegal apparently Gauges on dash = worried about the size (52mm) Exhaust = aftermarket Handbrake needs adjusting? Meaning? Pod filter = needs permit Unhappy with the amount of wire in the engine bay? The most serious one is the previous owner cut away the bumper when he fitted the body kit, so i need to get the bumper re-fabricated which probably means my front bar wont fit anymore, so i need a new front bar as well =[ So much f**king money. Anyway, does anyone know which of these things will actually be a problem? I imagine that the bumper being cut is definitely not going to pass? Anyone know where i can get this redone, and how much its going to cost me? The first cop that pulled me over was a real nice guy, he gave me two weeks to get everything fixed, plus he lied on the paper work about what time he pulled me over so that i would have more time. At least not every cop in the business is an idiot. Thanks for any help guys, Martin

Cheers for the offer mate, i enjoy trying to do things myself, learn something new. Ill be careful and if i cant figure it out then ill ask around to see if anyone wants to give me a hand. Just another question, does anyone know about these thread repair kits? Ive seen some in Malz, i thought maybe they would work instead of replacing the stud? I would rather replace the stud, but i phoned two Nissan's, three wreckers and all the automotive shops that are near me, and none of them have these damn wheel studs, its a real pain in the ass. Cheers for your help everyone

Lol, took me a second to get that... Good work with the loan mate, how much does the car cost you to maintain? Heard GTR's are very dear...
-
Yeh mate, R34 GT coupe... Keep an eye out for my conversion thread soon though, going GT+T
-
Yeh definitely blue = non-turbo, mine are blue =] I saw a R32 GTR the other day with red badges same with the R34 GTR, so i dunno where silver is coming from... A little off topic, but James how did you come to own a GTR in high school lol? If your family is loaded, do you have a sister or something, because i would really like an R34 GTR Lol just joking mate

As far as the gear and handbrake boots go, i got mine off ebay, looks awesome, very easy to keep clean, real high quality product. If your car is automatic, check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R33-...id=p3286.c0.m14 Dunno if you will find what youre looking for, but i thought the product was awesome

Ok cool, too easy, ill give it a shot myself. If it breaks, you buy me a new car? =P Jokes lol
-
Wow, thanks for that mate... Turns out im gonna take it to a mechanic. Lol. Nah i dunno yet, i was going to have a crack at it myself, but i dunno about messing with the handbrake springs etc... How much harder is it to do this compared to something like changing brake pads? Thanks again for the info guys, i might drive down to Nissan tomorrow after uni and get the studs
-
Yeh thats cool, thanks for that man Turns out its gonna cost me $525 to replace the wheel. Last one left in WA, so noone go and buy a GMax Enigma yeh! Mine I wish i could afford a full set of new wheels, but according to my years of maths education, $525 is less than $3000
-
Yeh the boss there is an idiot so im gonna just have to cut my losses and buy a new rim =[ I havent hit a pot-hole or anything while ive owned the car, the previous owner might have done it but it never had the shake before. I have 9.5's on the back and 8.5's on the front, so the most they could have rotated the rims would be left and right, means the shake still would have been there. If i didnt have staggered wheels i would just put it on the back and not worry about it, but wider at the back so cant do it
-
Yeh i heard about that Ecentrix, really dont want the same thing to happen to me! Ive been to the Repco near me, guy said they dont stock them. Canningvale is a bit far to drive for me I definitely went to the wrong Tyre Power aye, dont ever go there for anything, they are useless

Hey everyone, So i got my car back from Murphy's Tyre Power in midland about a month ago after getting new tyres, and when i took the car to my mechanic to get some brake work done, it turns out Tyre Power over tightened the nuts, and two of them on the front right wheel have binded, and now the wheel nuts wont stay on and im driving around with 3 wheel nuts. Obviously not an ideal situation. So does anyone know where i can find some replacement studs? Ive been to Repco and Malz and Coventry's, none of them have studs that fit, and i went to Ian Diffen Tyre Factory and they say that im going to have to get some engineered. Anyone know better? Also, i have no idea what Tyre Power did, but i think they curbed my car driving it into the garage, because i have never ever even come close to a curb or pot-hole or any sort of bump, and when i got my car back from them there was a violent shaking in my steering wheel. I thought that maybe they didnt balance the wheels, so i went to another tyre shop on Wednesday to get it balanced, and they put my front right tyre on the machine, and it was wobbling about something fierce. Turns out there is a flat spot across the whole rim and it needs to be replaced. So does anyone know if i have a foot to stand on if i accuse Tyre Power and try to get them to pay for the damages? I thought it unlikely as they can just claim that both the dented wheel and the wheel studs were not there doing and are my fault. Thanks for any help guys, much appreciated. Cheers, Martin

Those gauges look to be the stock GT-T gauges... Id say the car isnt dodgy, but aftermarket steering wheels can cause a lot of problems with insurance and things. Not to mention the fact that it doesnt have an airbag and isnt going to keep you safe in a crash. Personally i would keep looking there are plenty of very nice GT-T's out there. Maybe have a look in the for sale section on here, see the GT-R being sold for 32? Omg so jealous of whoever ends up getting that car!

Lol not normal, sounds like the car has either been lowered too much or has rims that are too big, the guards need to be rolled. Wouldnt say it damages the car, but its definitely not normal, and may wear out the tyre quicker? not sure on that though...
-
GT-T's only go until 2000 im pretty sure, GTR's went until 2004. You should find the car that has everything you want, but then again modding is one of the funnest parts of owning a Skyline. When i bought mine it just had the stock spoiler, but ive since put the GTR spoiler on it and love it even more for that. Im with justcar, i pay 523 or something a year for fire + theft. Insurance companies are all going to rape you for having a high performance car, but atleast JustCar give you a chance. +1 for getting a 34 mate, sexiest car ever =D Also going to own a R34 GTR V-Spec pretty soon, all you buyers stay away from my dream car =P

Doesnt that cable unplug from the halogen and into the original setup? Im not sure exactly how the factory xenon's work, ive only done conversions, but wouldnt the source be the same for both set-ups? Just that they would unplug the factory set-up and install the halogens... ?

I think what Bubba was saying is that in your statement, you said AWD/4WD cars can not be safely put on a dyno, not that they cant safely be put on Kostecki's single drive dyno. It makes it sound like you are not aware there are AWD/4WD dyno's out there, which undermines your whole letter. Load of rubbish, but i see where the government would get their claim from.

Yehhh yuck lol

Plan for the car is to turbo-charge it either next year or the year after. I will only run small amounts of boost, ~7PSI until i get the R34 GTR. Then my current car will become my project and the GTR will be my daily. I plan to forge the internals, rebuild everything, and thats when i will upgrade to a larger turbo
-
Lol, this topic again? 50% of the world will say its bad, the other 50% will say it isnt. Personally i think it sounds awesome, but at the same time i fully agree with Adam, i dont see how it cant be bad for the turbo. Its compressor surge, spinning the turbine backwards, it can not be good. If you didnt need a BOV, why would anyone have them?
-
Good points, but those cars are all on the wiring diagram. R34 GTR's and GTT's are listed too, but not NA R34 RB25DE
-
Lol yeh i suppose you get that, but thats ok, im not gonna go out and buy the first thing that someone mentions. Ill look into nistune a bit more, thanks for that Bubba
-
Im not sure where they are located, my poster came from England though... Ordered it in the morning, it arrived the next day in the afternoon
-
Yeh my bad lol, i thought it was A3, i looked on the back, turns out its A2

Havent really looked into it, but isnt it more for Silvia's?
