Lol where would i get one of them from though? I dont mind cutting the trim, im sure i can do a decent job of it. But i might just mount the gauges as they come, they have their own mounts or i can buy a holder. I would prefer a holder, they look better, but if its that much harder then ill just mount them on the top dash with their stock mounts
-
Haha see this is what i wanna do, i like the jet cockpit look =P But yeh, i wanna have mine mounted on either the dash like this, or on the pillar, but apparently the pillar is illegal now, so i wanna go with dash. I could put them where MissR34 has them, but i dont wanna remove the cigarette lighter because i have a GPS and things, and also it seems more dangerous to have them down there, harder to take a quick glance while driving
-
Ok so i checked out Just Jap and ill probs get my guages from there, but how do i know what sizes i need? Like with the sender adaptors and that?
-
The voltmeter and oil temp / water temp gauges sound like a good idea, do you know how to wire them? Ive already got oil pressure, it came stock in the dash with my car, sits under the speedo

Hey all, Just a couple of questions about gauges for my R34, i want to put 3 gauges in, just as an experiment and to make it look sportier lol. I definitely want air to fuel ratio, anyone know how to wire it up? I would also really like to monitor the air intake temperature going to my pod from the CAI, but i wasnt sure if air intake gauges are for turbo cars and it measures the intake from the intercooler? Or can i do it with my N/A, and if so, how do i wire it and all that? Lastly, does anyone have any ideas about what other gauge i could get, most ive seen are for turbos so arent really relevant to me lol. Im really just doing this as a personal interest sort of thing, i like the look of gauges and i would like to monitor certain things about the performance of my car, not really for tuning purposes for now, rather just as an experiment and to learn more about the car. Cheers for any help

Yeh very true, i sliced my thumb open when i was replacing my gear knob
-
I can say ive never done a burnout =]

Yeh 1974, the laws changed a few years ago im pretty sure. What does it say about confiscation of vehicles in that bill? I cant find where i read that evidence is not required... Sucks lol, now i sound like a ranter lol. Just before i got my license i was reading somewhere that police would no longer need material evidence for conviction, just a written or court statement from a witness
-
The anti-hoon law states that no evidence is required, all it takes is a complaint. When it comes to hoon laws, they can do what they want.
-
That sucks hey *Takes a breath* Hoon laws are phucked!! Not that i encourage hoon behaviour, just that every other law is "innocent until proven guilty" and then the hoon law they take your car as soon as some little old lady phones up saying "they were going very fast". Its guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent, where is the fair trial??? Not only is it unfair, but it is inconsistent as well. My mate got reported by some lady for doing burnouts and drag racing (both of which he was actually doing) on a local street. Then the cops phoned him up and all they said was "just give it a rest hey, neighbours are getting annoyed". They didnt even care. And then i get pulled over just for having a Skyline, you lose your car for doing donuts in a gravel car park... such a load!! *Breathes In* Anyway, that is my rant over lol. My story was about my mate getting caught but not having any consequences lol =]

A drive by sound test for what, they reckon its excessive noise or what?? I think ill just go buy some metal intake pipe from SuperCheap or Malz, metal will look neater and i imagine the sound would resonate. Will be more expensive, but i would rather spend $50 than have an ugly set up
-
What size pipe would give me decent air flow? Would 50mm be big enough, or not worth it? Should i go bigger?
-
There is a wreckers quite close to me, reckon i should just pop in and see if they have the VN piping? If they dont, would intake piping from any car do the job, or is there something about VN's? I might just drop in anyway, see what they have, im looking for a passenger side window switch anyway, they might have one =D
-
Where the hell is Pick 'N Pay lol? Someone mentioned it before, so i googled it, but it only comes up with stuff in South Africa lol
-
Ummm yuck... Lol hole saw just seems the easiest way, i dont have a jigsaw either, hole saw is definitely cheaper lol. Foil type pipe stuff eh??? Is that its real name, or?
-
Yeh thats what i thought, my mates arent keen on helping me do it unless im using top quality stuff lol, they reckon it will look hell dodgy and they dont wanna be cutting holes in the engine bay... Told em they dont understand cos they dont have cars they can mod, there is something hell satisfying about doing your own work and NOT paying some mechanic to do it for you... Not really concerned about looks either, considering its not visible... lol. So ill go have a look for some cheap pipe. But i also had a look for hole saws at bunnings, those bits are ridiculously expensive!! It was like 54 for just the hole saw, and then you need to buy the thing to attach it to the drill, which was 78. Anyone know where i can get some cheap ones???
-
Hey, I know there are a lot of threads on this already, but none of them really give many suggestion of what you can use as intake piping. I had a look at bunnings, but wasnt sure how good plumbing pipe would be. Had a look at the proper intake piping in SuperCheap as well, but its like $80 a piece and none of the pieces are long enough. So does this piping really need to be made out of high quality material, seeing as its just an air intake, or can i use some cheap pipe? I dont really wanna spend too much money on this, but i also dont want a really sketchy set up... Cheers for any help

-
Haha i think its a pretty good effort considering im meant to be studying for exams! Besides im going to visit a friend lol. I dont know anyone else that far away from Perth lol
-
Haha yeh, goin to Albany cos there is this chick that lives there that i met while i was in Melbourne lol. Plus i am going during my study week of uni lol, should really be studying just before exams, but if rather get crunk in some far away place =] And Hoony, as for not inviting anyone lol, youre welcome to come if you can find accommodation haha. Lets all go on a phat cruise to Albany =D
-
Well if i sold the GT and bought a GTT, i would be spending about $10000 just to get the same mods i have on the GT... I might just leave it NA hey, see how much power i can get out of the RB25DE without wearing it out too much. Then get they GTR in a couple of years
-
Hey all, Me and my mates are planning on doing a road trip down to Albany early next month, Thought i would put it up here in case ive forgotten anything or someone has any ideas =] There will be and my three mates, we decided we will take the Skyline and my mates Patrol so that there are two in each car instead of two being stuck in the back for 5 and a half hours. We have decided to split everything equally, so no one is paying more than anyone else. Accommodation will cost us $130 each. Id say we only need maybe $50 each for food for the whole trip. How much petrol you reckon we should allow for? I think 3 tanks? One tank there, one tank for while we are down there, and one tank for the way back?? So $75 each... And then everyone can decide how much they wanna spend in terms of alcohol and stuff. Anything else i should consider???
