Lol, not sooking, just discussing. It hardly matters to me, I've already got my turbo. That said, I did ditch my previous G2 based on the result of the G3 in here... It's not. He isn't obligated to post any of his results, I'm not saying he is. I'm simply voicing my opinion as a previous Hypergear customer, it was the results in this thread that convinced me to buy one.

All well and good to take off 40kw, but ethanol changes the whole curve. You would essentially be guessing at how the turbo would perform on 98, and I don't know about you but I wouldn't buy a turbo where I have to estimate how it's going to perform. I think testing on ethanol is fine, and it is very interesting, but I still think Stao should get results on 98 as well, otherwise it makes diagnosing potential problems very difficult. I mean, we've seen how many people in this thread, including myself, have had substandard setups and not made the expected results. Stao has always been extremely helpful on this front, but what happens when customers start buying these turbos that have been tested on ethanol based on an estimation of how it will perform on 98 but then don't get the expected result? Is it a case of underestimating the effect that ethanol had, or are there other issues?

And what exactly does 14psi feel like? It could be running 14psi if the previous owner changed the actuator, as previously mentioned. The stock turbo can make more than 14psi, but it's a time-bomb waiting to go off and it will be way past its max flow anyway, so you won't be getting any gains. That said, if it still has a stock ECU then it would probably hit R&R before it makes 14psi.

Yeh in neutral there is no load, shouldn't be enough flow to spool to 10psi. OP, I'd get your timing checked mate, or it could be running super rich?

Agree ^ Switching to E85 would pretty much remove Western Australia from the demographic, we aren't going to get the stuff any time soon.

Yeh it's a fair amount of hassle to ditch the traction control in the 34's, unless you've got something like a ViPEC/Link etc. Can be done, but I wouldn't bother unless you really needed to, ie. going forward facing plenum. Deleting it for the sake of deleting it is just begging for problems and trust me... They aint worth it. Urtwhistle, how does that go with the traction control motor wanting to do it's self-diagnostic sweep on start-up?

Ok, after further research, I THINK I'm after part number 463-02 from the Speedflow catalog. But they appear to only come in one size, does that mean these fittings are a fairly universal part among all turbos??

Yeh I meant -8, no idea why I said -4 So -12 should do it?? I can get the fittings from Go Gear, I just don't know what I actually need. I'm going to need the actual drain itself, the part that needs the gasket? The stock one is a push on fitting, I obviously need a threaded fitting. Should look something like this: But I don't know what it's called?? Also the fitting that screws into the block, I don't know the thread size??

Hey guys, Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search but couldn't find anything specific. I am getting a bit wear of the ol' cut n clamp rubber hose job that I did to get my oil drain to fit when I installed my Hypergear G3, and I want to make up a braided line to replace it. However I'm not sure what fittings I need. Does anyone know they type of fitting and thread size that I will need for both the turbo end and the block end? I'll be using Speedflow gear if anyone can even give me a specific part number? Also, what size hose should I use? The oil drain is gravity fed if I'm not mistaken, so I imagine hose size is important. Is AN -4 the correct size?? Thanks all, Martin.

Yeh I try to do the same, but to get my front bumper off I have to turn the wheels. I just think it's rather inconvenient NOT being able to, even if I usually avoid it.

Was wondering this myself; was it determined what caused the failure? Detonation or excessive cylinder pressures? -
PS does put a lot of load on the engine though, mine used to stall with the NIStune when I turned the wheel at idle.
