On internally gated turbos EBC's don't do much, it's more about the actuator. When I had my old internally gated HG, I never even used mine, just switched it off. Can mess around with the gain setting and all that, but the turbo worked well off the spring so I didn't bother. Externally gated, different story.

Sorry if I come across as insensitive, I've never been good at arguing my point without causing offense. Wiping your hands on things such as toilet paper or your trousers is rubbish, it does nothing to remove germs. Did you never do the 'glitter' test in primary school where you put glitter on your hands and then try to get it off with a paper towel or any other means? 99% of it stays on your hands. Germs are the same, so the notion that you could clean your hands with toilet paper or on your clothes is quite frankly ridiculous. Then consider how fast bacteria reproduces. Bacteria population can double in size in under 10 minutes. That's why these adverts for hand cleansers that kill "99%" of the germ population on your hands annoy me, because 99% is not enough. When you are talking millions and millions of bacteria that can double population size in under 10 minutes, 99% does nothing. Hence, you are always crawling with bacteria. Always always always, there is absolutely nothing you can do about that. Right now, you are supporting between 2 and 10 million bacteria just between your fingers and your elbow. Expand that thought into every other aspect in your life. When you wash dishes, do you use a brand new cloth to do so? Do you use a brand new tea towel to dry with? If you don't, the damp environment in those cloths is absolute heaven to bacteria. You then put that tea towel down on the kitchen counter, those bacteria are now crawling all over your counter top. Put a plate of food down on that counter top and the bacteria transfer to there. You can see where I'm going with this. It's the same when it comes to wiping your hands on things. It's an impossible task, even the most obsessive of clean-freaks can do nothing about it. In the end, the only thing stopping you from getting sick is your own immune system. 99.9999% of the time your body will crush those bacteria easily. It's when your immune system is not up to the task that you get sick, so the best preventative method is to keep your body fit and healthy. Whatever is going on outside your body will ultimately not make much difference, because these germs are absolutely everywhere anyway. So yes, wash your hands after you have been to the toilet, etc. etc. Do all that is practical to stay healthy, but going to the extent of pushing the pedestrian crossing button with your elbow is ridiculous because in 20 minutes the bacteria that were on that button have spread exponentially from your elbow to your hands anyway, it's pointless.

Yeh the Power Enterprise 660's are 11 or 12mm longer than standard, so that's how big my spacers were as well.
-
All 25's have VCT. The main differences between the Neo and the standard 25's had nothing to do with power. The differences that do affect power really make no difference at all once you get to this stage.
-
He specifically said standard GTT rail ya jerk OP, I just went and measured my standard GTT injectors, and they are exactly 60mm. So I would have said get the 60mm, except Aggroman knows his stuff so now I'm confused... Fairly sure it will be the 60mm ones though, that's how long the standard ones are.

I nee to sort my life out and make a decision on an oil filler cap. Spending more time thinking about that than I did about what fkn turbo I was getting As for my engine bay, PARTS of it will be shiny. The rest is still greasy and filthy and looks shit Tempted to just rip the engine out and get stuck in with a toothbrush, if only society didn't irk me with responsibilities, I'd have the best engine bay! Ahh ok, I still daresay the beanie will be better than nothing. My engine bay gets HOT after a run, and I haven't had a chance to take it out on the track yet. That's the one thing I don't like about having the gate mounted on the rear turbo housing, it means I can't use a beanie. I would get it HPC coated but have been told it does nothing really, for the money it's just not worth it. -
Jesus... Some of you guys might as well live in a bubble. Wash your hands after shaking hands, seriously? How is that practical? And some of these things cancel each other out, I mean are you supposed to drive to work in the morning, shake your bosses hand, then drive home to wash your hands? Or is it ok to wash your hands after shaking someones hand, but not ok to wash your hands after going to the toilet? If cleaning your hands with toilet paper is good post-ablutions, why not suggest cleaning hands with toilet paper post-handshake? I pride myself on being healthy, and I can boast the record of never once having had the flu in my 21 years, and very rarely do I catch a cold. When I do, I'm over it very quickly. The most sick I have ever been was when I got glandular fever, and I was over that in under 2 weeks. I don't do any of the prevention methods above, they are ridiculous. The 'cure' methods are good, I agree with those. Sleep, a good diet and exercise, ie. being healthy, is the best way to avoid getting sick. Birds' post was pretty much spot on. Alcohol is also a big factor, often because it goes hand in hand with a lack of sleep and because it inhibits your livers ability to detox properly. Agree with this 100% as well. The immune system works by being exposed to germs. Not trying to be rude or overly critical either, I'm just genuinely shocked that anyone practices the mentioned prevention methods?

Does the job perfectly, doesn't stretch or tear and mine has been on for about a year. Has survived a few track days as well. I used to buy the Supercheap stuff and paint it black, but it doesn't work well. Paint lasts about a month.

Pictures work fine for me.

Hey all, So a few months ago I started my car up with a loose oil filler cap (the result of servicing your car after a few too many beverages ), and the lining on the underside of my bonnet is now soaked in oil. This means every time I close my bonnet, all my cooler piping and radiator etc. gets covered in oil. Ignoring the possibility that this is a fire risk, it is really fkn annoying having to clean all my polished parts every time I open the bonnet. So what is my best option here? Should I remove the lining and try to degrease and wash it all out? Or am I better off removing it all together and ditching it?

Looking good man. Seriously, if my engine bay looks half as good as yours by the time I'm finished then I'll be a very happy man Mine needs more high-mount though With regards to the turbo beanie, I think it will work perfectly man. Does it fit nicely onto the turbo? Unless it's a bit loose, I can't see it being an issue. I was reading through some of my HPI magazines last night looking for ideas, and I noticed that almost all of the cars that had high mounted turbos with a turbo beanie had the beanie sitting hard up against the rocker cover, and they all work fine. -
Ahh I see, thanks. The idea I had been toying with for running WMI was simply that I track my car, so I'm worried about intake temperatures. I wasn't going to use it to boost figures so much (though I wouldn't object if it did), but rather as a bit of an insurance policy when running high boost on the track. Not so good an idea?? As of yet I had decided it seems like a bit of a waste of money, I'd probably be better off saving for a Link or Vipec and setting up intake temp trim tables, etc.

You'll be fine, engine will love it You also mentioned your power was a little limited by ping? That may be something to look at if that's the case, what is causing it to ping?
-
No. I stirred the pot first. Or actually... Artz and GeeTeeTee did. Fair enough you want to know what the turbos are like, but you've asked that question so many times and then you get snappy when people are impatient with you. Just look at the dyno graphs, you can see what the turbo would feel like on the street. How is one supposed to word an answer to a question like that, "uhhh, yeh, it pushes me back in my seat by maybe 2cm and feels real good and yeh"??? If you want to know more then try finding someone who will take you for a ride with one, otherwise you simply have to do what everyone else has done and take a gamble. When you can afford it...
-
You are both on 16psi aren't you? Comparing your graphs, I'd say you are making a fair bit more mid-range with 20psi through there, if you can get it to hold that boost then you'd get a bit more on top.
-
How long does the methanol mixture last without absorbing more water? Ie. say I had a kit that was only active above 15psi, so my low boost setting of 14psi wouldn't be using any W/M; would the mixture be ok sitting around in the tank for prolonged periods or do you need to use it quite soon after you've mixed it?
-
Lol yes, sorry, I've had my say now. Back to the turbos!
-
25 year old. Grandparents got thrown off a convict ship. Scott, were your grandparents around in the 18th century to be thrown off a convict ship? They must have had children late if you are only 25!?
-
Fair enough, good to see you've got a workshop that is interested in the customers benefit, not just their own. They aren't all like that By the way, while said friend is reading your RPM off the hand controller, you should probably get them to take some videos
-
If that were an essay, I'd give it a solid B+. Nice intro followed through into a well written body, finished off with a 'slap-in-the-face' conclusion to drive home his point, that's good stuff. Lost some marks for spelling and grammar at the end there though
-
No no, the fact it exists makes it cool I'm really looking forward to when (or if) you finally commit to modifications, it will be good to see how many corners you cut to make it cheap and how many times you will spend more money than you thought you would, as those of us who have actually done it can tell you it's going to happen. It's gonna be a real blast. Speaking of things that actually happen, that reminds me; Birds didn't you say RP were making you a custom intake pipe???
-
Good result Birds, is that pretty much what was expected? I'm not sure how the standard housings compare to the ATR housings, but 260rwkw seems like that's about right? *EDIT* Same time post haha, sounds like you achieved what you wanted, well done man Gotta get this plenum and new fuel system done on my car and get it back on the dyno without the ECU problems now!
-
Don't think you could describe either of them as 'poor little kids', unless you were referring to yourself? Seriously though dude, you keep asking the same question over and over, "how's the torque kick". You keep getting the same response. I think it has been well established now that these Kando turbos are fun, and the Hypergear turbos are fun. Stop talking about how you're going to get a Kando and just get the damn turbo, how many more people do you want to tell you that they are good? Commitment issues...
