I tune my own car Somewhat... Cruise cells count right? I draw the line at having to break the law by powering around at full load in 4th lol. You've got a hoist and you don't do jobs as easy as installing a turbo!?

So How Do I Want To Setup My Catch Can?
Hanaldo replied to Hadouken's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Do all RB engines have that or just 26's? When I setup my breather system I looked for a restrictor in the stock breather hoses and there was nothing... -
I think mine came in a Corona carton from memory. Might be thinking of something else though.
-
Yeh neither of my turbos were fantastically packaged either. Nothing damaged luckily, but not very well protected. Even my catch can came in about 100 layers of bubble wrap + foam wrap + solid Styrofoam.

God dammit! Spoke to my auto sparky mate just now and he said if I had asked him yesterday then he could have borrowed a pair of the crimpers because he has them on site, but he's back in town now -

Hanaldo replied to Hadouken's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No. The can needs to vent, whether it is to atmosphere or back into the system. I think you should read up on positive crankcase gasses. If the can can't vent then essentially what you are doing is blowing all this pressure into a sealed can, which will basically pressurize your crankcase until it pops your dipstick out and can vent. The pressure needs to go somewhere, that's the idea behind the breather setup. -

Then you need to block the PCV and vent to atmosphere and it's going to be illegal, simple as that. For it to be legal you need to have the PCV operational which requires a third fitting on the catch can to plumb it back into the intake. -

It's very easy if I can get a hold of the proper crimper, I'm not worried about doing it if I can do it properly. If I can't get a hold of the crimpers and do it myself then I'll take the plugs and loom to an auto sparky or injector specialist. Would prefer to do it myself though. -

If you block the PCV then you vent to atmosphere. If you leave the PCV functional then you plumb the catch can back into the intake pipe. My advice is to leave the PCV functional... -

Yes I tried to do that yesterday, but the rubber insulators that sit on the wire inside the end of the plug are all shagged out on the stock wires so I want to replace those. To do that I need to take the pin off the wire. -

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go. Does anyone know where I can get these pin crimpers from? I've tried Jaycar, Dick Smiths, Tool Mart, various automotive stores, Covs, etc. I thought Jaycar would have but they didn't have a clue what I was showing them. They suggested just bending them over with a pair of pliers, but I'd rather not have my injectors cut out at 6000rpm because of a dodgy crimp. Would rather not solder either, I want to do it properly, just can't find these fkn crimpers. -

About the catch can? Yes, I will. If I won't be able to get this one to fit cheaply then I'll try to sell it and get Brad to make me another one. Hopefully he can come up with something to make this one work though, saves me having to advertise it and try to sell it. Speaking of trying to sell stuff, anyone wanna buy some Power Enterprise 660cc drop in injectors for an RB25DET Neo? -

Lol. Just while I think of it, does anyone have any easy ways of degreasing in and around my engine? Ideally I would rip the engine out and clean it all up really well, but I haven't the time. I've tried using a rag and some degreaser, but there's so much in the way, I can't really get in anywhere. It's covered in shit though, there's a decent layer of dirt, sludge and grease built up all over the place, looks terrible -
Dude. Come on. These turbos have been discussed to death. It takes 2 seconds to type them into the search bar and then you have more information available to your disposal because I'm sure the majority of replies in this thread will be along the same lines as this one. Search. Read. Search. Read. Search. Read.

Yes I agree, I've seen cars with 70rwhp differences between their back-to-back runs in shootout mode. Mind you, they are big hp cars, no-one cares if you're down 70hp when you're making 900rwhp anyway But my point was that Trent's dyno has had it's numbers backed up by several results on other roller dynos around the country, it's not reading notoriously high for the sake of inflating power figures. Whether or not comparing dynos is a valid argument, it's always going to happen. Haha I'm the opposite when it comes to DIY. I do everything DIY now because at least then I know what's been done and how; I've found too much dodgy shit that has been done by the workshops I've taken my car to. So I just went out and spent a couple of grand on tools, now I can get my car up on stands and leave it there for as long as I need so I take my time with these things and do a job that I would pay out the nose to have done at a workshop. If something doesn't work, I know how it all went together, I know whether I may have left a rag in an intake pipe and where, or I can take the chance to replace hoses that I think may be at a risk of failing, etc. Better than your setup not working as intended and having no idea where to start.

Yes I know, my car is the same. But apparently Status' hub dyno doesn't read higher, it's just as accurate as a roller dyno. Has been backed up by several results.

I did, but the solutions he gave me were generic solutions, they won't work for me because I'm trying to play football. Eg. he suggested getting some bigger boots. Bigger shoes are all well and good for your average runner, but I need to be able to feel the ball on my foot, kick a ball, etc. I have had orthotics for about 6 months now too. I do all of the above, but this is the sort of advice the podiatrist gave me. It's fine if all I was trying to do is run, but it doesn't work for me in a football context. Nobody makes custom fitting football boots for a decent price, not anything I can afford. I have got proper running shoes that fit my feet well, it helps a bit but doesn't eliminate the problem. I'm going to try TM7's advice about the anti-blister socks etc, see how well that goes.

Thanks Brad, email sent. Didn't get a lot done today, but the injectors are done and fit perfectly, no issue there at all. I had been a bit concerned about the amount of movement in them just sitting in the rail, so I called my mechanic and asked for his advice, and he said if I can feel the drag of the o-ring then it's fine. So I put them all in the rail and bolted them up to the runners and bam, they fit perfectly. I still need to change the plugs on the loom, but after attempting to install the new pins without the proper crimping tool I've decided I had best wait until I do have the proper tool Otherwise I'm now just waiting for my Speedflow fittings and hose to arrive so I can plumb up the rail, then I'm ready to bolt the plenum on. Fuel filter has been changed, I've cleaned up the runners a bit, so most of it is done now. May be able to get it on this weekend, we'll see. -

You're obsessed with black and you're not a fan!? Haha. Yehh I'm leaning towards the metallic black at the moment, mostly because the powdercoating is a lot stronger and easier to keep clean. Haha yehhh, cool kids hey I didn't think you came on here much anymore, I was gonna hit you up on FB once it was running about doing another shoot though. I need new photos with the new wheels and more low -

Yehhh I'm not sure yet hey, I was thinking wrinkle black but I'm worried about scratching it. I would rather get them powdercoated and was thinking metallic gun-metal. Not sure what I'll do yet. Haha there you are! I'm glad you think those photos are bad, means you can get some better ones next time; right now they are still the best photos I have of the car haha. Yehh it's come a long way hey. So have I in a way though, I was reading through the 'build' thread on WCC the other day, fwark it makes me cringe at how nieve and ignorant I was. Didn't have a clue back then hey -

Haha thanks man. I did contemplate the DE+t, and in fact just before I had the issues with the old gearbox I had started looking out for the parts to do the conversion. I think I'm much happier with the road I went down though Yeh Brad (Risking), the guy who made my catch can used to make those push in AN fittings. He had started looking into getting another batch made up when I bought my fittings, so they may be available again soon. I got mine from Speedflow Direct, Andy is a very helpful bloke and BY FAR the best prices I have found. I blame you for half the work I'm doing right now by the way, not cool man If I can't get this catch can to work then I'll have to sell it and get Brad to make me another one that does fit. I have wanted a proper baffled catch can/rad overflow setup for a long time which is why I was so happy with this one, no way I'll be going to anything else now -
Yes, there was a whole debacle here about the IM240 test only being run by one workshop, and because they had the monopoly it was costing people who required the test well over 3 grand to get it done. And funnily enough, every car failed until you bought one of this workshops magic catalytic converters for $600, then all of a sudden everything was perfect I'm sure it will be brought back in as soon as there are more workshops setup to do the test though, it's only a matter of time.
-
We don't have the IM240 test over here, standard 5 gas analyzer test. The cars go over with all mods in place, he doesn't fit different turbos or anything like that. I am aware it is no IM240 test, I just forgot that you guys have that over there.

I haven't actually, I'll give that a go. Would look pretty gay though I think Haha nahh I've been driving around with the screamer and gate at 14psi for almost 5 months now (wow ), it doesn't drive me crazy at all I don't just drive around on low boost because I'm worried about the motor though, if I was then I wouldn't have got a turbo capable of this power. The two main reasons I leave it on low boost is because it means I won't get use to the 400hp as quickly so it still feels fun, and the noise this thing makes on high boost is absolutely ridiculous. On low boost it is loud and I try not to gate through areas where there might be cops, but on high boost people call the cops to report a plane crash By the way, I'll get that video of the injectors today, show you what I mean. Hopefully I can figure it out, but if not then hopefully someone here
