  1. A lot. It was a good 1-2cm smaller. But I don't know if yours would be. My G3 is an 'older' design now. Fancy saying that a year down the track! but I think Stao has actually refined his adapter design and they fit perfectly now. So it might be worthwhile checking but there's a good chance that your adapter is fine.
  2. My JJR bellmouth matches the gasket perfectly... I pulled mine out with the intention of port matching it, then found that the dump pipe matched perfectly and it was actually Stao's 6-bolt adapter on the turbo that doesn't match at all.
  3. Petrol works for me... Bit of petrol, a toothbrush, and plenty of elbow lovin'.
  4. You're correct Lith, it is true flex fuel. Perhaps I misused the word 'true' when I said it isn't, but my point was that the Link ECU isn't (and I loath to use the Haltech advertising term for it, but for lack of a better one...) 'flex-ready'. In that the G4, being as flexible and powerful as it is, can be set up to achieve the task, but it doesn't have those starting points that save a lot of time. I guess what it comes down to is that I can't afford the time my tuner believes it would take to completely work everything out.
  5. Ah that would be awesome! I'll go take a photo now.
  6. Hmmm... I imagine it won't be an easy part to find I don't really want to block off the charcoal canister though. Would definitely much rather keep it. I doubt this is the cause of my power issues anyway, it's barely leaking at all
  7. No, that's over on the firewall. This was mounted on a bracket on the wheel arch, near where the throttle cable goes through the firewall.
  8. Right, found the bastard. The noise is coming from this. It appears to be a sensor of some sort?
  9. That valve is fine. The noise isn't coming from the brake booster, just some where near it. I block off the charcoal canister and it goes away, has to be something to do with that, surely?
  10. Does anyone know where this valve is? If it is between the canister and the plenum, then it no longer exists. I've run 1/4" hose directly from the canister to the plenum, there's no valve in that line. If it is in the line between the fuel tank and the canister, does anyone know where? I can't find a diagram anywhere.
  11. Well the sound doesn't come from anywhere near the canister. Its definitely over near the brake booster.
  12. He can, but there's no point paying him to do something that I can do myself. Done now anyway, both the cat and the turbo bearings are fine.
  13. Where is the valve supposed to be for the charcoal canister? If I have deleted that valve without knowing it, would the charcoal canister essentially be a big boost leak?
  14. Well considering the noise is only there when the charcoal cannister is connected, does that not mean it must be related to it? I can pump 20+psi into the system with the canister disconnected and it will be dead silent. Also Nur, and what do you mean cylinder 1 throttle? The engine is a 25 Neo, so there is no Cyl 1 throttle. I did think the noise might be related to a diaphragm that doesn't normally see positive pressure, HOWEVER. When I installed the Plazmaman plenum, I ran new hose for the charcoal canister so that I could run it a natural way. It now goes straight into the plenum through standard 1/4" hose. No valve anywhere. Is that likely to be a problem?
  15. Hey all, I just wanted to quickly clarify whether this noise I am hearing is normal or not. When I pressurize the intake using an air compressor to test for leaks, I have noticed before that I get an odd whine coming from somewhere in the engine bay. I have narrowed it down to having something to do with the charcoal canister, as when that is disconnected and the lines blocked, the sound disappears. However the sound emanates from the back of the engine bay, over near the brake booster. Now I am totally unsure why, but when I first made this discovery a few months ago I dismissed it as being normal. Upon hearing it again, I had the thought that perhaps this isn't normal and is an issue that I should rectify. So, here is a video of pressurizing the intake with the charcoal canister disconnected. Note no noise: Here is another video, now with the charcoal canister connected again. Note the noise that comes in at approx. 11 seconds. I should also point out that I have never heard the sound while driving, I guess because the noise of the car covers it up or possibly the noise doesn't occur with the engine running.
  16. Well, doesn't look like the plugs are any indication. The old plug fouled in roughly 40km's of driving. The new plugs have now done about 120km's and I just checked them and they are all perfect. So my guess is either it was a faulty plug or it was the fuel pressure being at 60psi for a couple of cold starts that caused it to foul. I'll keep an eye on it, but I don't think it is going to happen again. Now to check the turbo bearings and cat.
  17. I've got the crossover pipe come to think of it. And a bov somewhere. Might have the oil and water lines but I think I threw them out. *EDIT* Right, found the BOV but no turbo lines. Do have a Walbro GSS-342 fuel pump if somebody wants it though?
  18. Bah, if that's not a reason to upgrade the turbo then I don't know what is Some good cars on these last few pages! I've just got a whole bunch of accessories for my GoPro, so I'm planning on playing around with them a bit. Might upload a few here if they are any good, but be warned... Car hasn't been washed in almost a year
  19. No, those plugs pictured never went back in. New plugs went back in, and the new ones are all clean. Also, with the old plugs the car never misfired. So I'm in two minds about whether it was maybe a faulty plug. I don't know, need to do more investigating.
  20. Nice. I'd recommend degreeing them while you are there, not a lot of extra effort. My poncams were a bit out.
  21. My car is all back together now, took it for a quick drive yesterday and all seems fine. Only possible issue I noticed was it has a slight 'hesitation' on gentle acceleration at roughly 3500rpm. I was taking it very easy, so I'm not totally sure what that hesitation is, possibly a misfire from having played with the timing or removing the CAS, maybe even just an air leak. I will pressure test the intake today to check for leaks to be sure, and my tuner wants me to drop my cat to make sure it's ok as well as check the turbo bearings. I'm sure both are fine but I will do that today as well. The only other thing is my tuner found that cylinder 1 is running extremely rich: This is interesting as I hard the spark plugs out about a month or so ago when I did the comp test, and they were all squeaky clean. So I suspect this may have been from the fuel pressure being bumped up to 60psi, though I'm not sure why only cyl 1 got fouled. Will need to look into that... Should also mention that I checked my valve clearances while I was doing the cam timing, and they are all very close to spec. Tomei say 0.45mm, most were around there with one or two being a little loose and a couple a little tight, loosest was 0.50 and tightest was 0.40. Nothing drastically out there, so that rules that theory out. Back to guessing games now. Otherwise it's unfortunate that it's Saturday now, otherwise the car would be going back to the tuner today. Plan is to take it back on Monday. Possibly just have to run it up on the dyno again and see how it goes, but tuner would really like to find what is wrong before we do the tune. In the case of the flex fuel tune, we have come up with a compromise for that. My plan was always to run the car on E85 and just be able to have unleaded as a backup without needing to purge the tank. So the car will have a lot of time set up between 60-100% E85 to allow for any variance in the ethanol content of the pump fuel, and will also be set up for 0% ethanol. The lower ethanol percentages will be roughly set up, but I won't be able to drive the car in anger at those levels. Perhaps not the perfect set up, but it saves a lot of dyno time that would otherwise make the whole project unaffordable.
  22. Good stuff mate I spent all of last Saturday chasing down some ethanol compatible submersible fuel hose in Perth, only place that had any in stock was Repco in Morley. They had two of the Gates Submersible 30cm hoses, I bought one of them, so they might still have the other one? Hopefully you can find some anyway, it was a bit harder to find than I thought it would be.
  23. Tell that to the guys in the 300kw club
  24. Well that's just boring, this thread isn't about thrashing at all!!?? Take it to 8, that's where the fun starts
  25. How'd you go with your fuel pump by the way James?
