Having done this myself... Endless. Do as the others are advising and sell it. Unless you have already upgraded the brakes/suspension/drivetrain etc, and you will be making more of a loss by selling the car and buying a factory turbo model then you really shouldn't be thinking about doing this.

Stops compressor surge at idle/low rpm. I've got GTR bovs on my car; boost definitely doesn't come on any quicker when they are blocked off.

Champ, thanks a lot mate

Yeh that's it. Fire sleeve is also hugely expensive, I couldn't afford enough of it to cover everything that needs to be covered. Thanks a lot for that Trev, I appreciate it Do you know what temperature that stuff is rated to??

Are the laws different over there? Over here, the motor has to be the same age or newer than the chassis. You can't put an older model engine into a newer model car.

This post sums up exactly how little you know about cars and how far you should stay away from them.

Jizz on a moustache.

My post was not supposed to be critical of the Hypergear turbos. They are a good turbo mate, any messing around with fitment is no more than I would expect from any turbo upgrade. You have to keep in mind that I'm fitting an externally gated turbo with a .82 rear housing and a .70 compressor. That's a HUGE physical change from factory, expecting everything to magically fit back together is simply wrong.

Few more problems fitting my turbo after getting the spacer plate, so unfortunately it still isn't done yet but atleast it's bolted to the car. First the oil return line is no where near fitting. It's about 40mm too short, with no flexibility to make it fit. Shouldn't be hard to correct, will pick up a longer hose tomorrow. Then my intake pipe no longer fits. Will need to get about 20mm cut off, but for now have relocated my radiator overflow bottle. Hopefully I don't get pulled over before I can fix that cos its dodgy as fk. Also the screamer pipe definitely isn't going to fit. So I'll need to get another one custom made. Finally, because the intake pipe is different, the Bov hard piping no longer fits. Should be fixable by chopping it off before the PCV return and using an L shaped hose to plumb it up. Hopefully. That SHOULD be all the problems that I can foresee, so it SHOULD be up and running tomorrow. Will update with photos. Oh and tune is booked for next Friday, the day before my dyno day

What 33Gtr Parts Are A Straight Fit To The Gts-T?

+1, that stuff sounds the goods!

Possibly, but again it sort of seems a bit more effort than it's worth. I'm talking about 4-6mm hoses, so to wrap all of these with something like exhaust wrap (I assume that's what you mean by heat wrap?) or heat reflective tape would be quite a job. I did find these two products on the website that Paul posted: http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/productdetail/heat-shield-sleeves/thermaflect-sleeve-hook-and-loop/61/44 http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/productdetail/heat-shield-sleeves/hp-hose-sleeve/59/44 Those look like what I was hoping for, don't suppose anyone has any experience with these or similar products??

Read this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/22458-the-goods-on-oils/ Then pick your poison.

That'd be great mate, thanks

There is probably a viable off-the-shelf item, but I want mine to sit in a specific spot so custom is the way to go for me. That said, I'm yet to actually find a decent looking off the shelf one... Anyone had much luck with that? I know RIPZ makes them, but I believe only on request?
-
Nope. I have one currently. Utter rubbish. Will be getting a proper oil/air separator custom made in the near future.

Yeh works for wires, but not the vacuum hoses or heater lines. The heat from my turbo is destroying all the rubber hoses on that side, and in the instance of the wastegate/boost controller lines, that could cause some serious problems if I don't catch them in time...

New Toy (R34) Need Help With Build Up!
Hanaldo replied to Adrian G's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Rubbish! The harder the better. In fact... Weld the stock shocks. Then invest in a triple plate clutch, cos that's also super badass. Oh and... IBTL. -
I've got some of that stuff lying around, I used it as an outside layer on heatshields, but it seems an arduous task wrapping little vacuum hoses with it... Was hoping someone may have found something maybe like conduit that could quite easily go around the hoses. A lot of these hoses are quite close to the turbo as well, I'd like to reroute as many as I can to keep them as far away as possible, but some of them it's just unavoidable, eg. wastegate lines, boost controller lines, etc. etc.

I believe you have misread somewhere. The ATR43's all use the Hypergear housings, they are Hypergear's production turbos. Highflows are a different service, they are not part of the same range. Or so I understood it, correct me if I am wrong Stao.

Hey all, I did a bit of a search but not exactly sure which terms to use so didn't find anything of much use. I'm looking for something to protect all my vacuum/air-con/similar hoses from heat; I found over the weekend that a lot of my hoses on the exhaust side of the engine bay have gone hard and many are cracked. The ones on my boost controller solenoid in particular were completely shot and that is only about a year old. Short of using fire sleeve, what do people generally use to protect their hoses? Does the silver wrap from factory on the heater hoses actually do much, it doesn't look like it would be very effective? Any suggestions would be well appreciated, Cheers, Martin.

All the turbos have the plate welded onto the rear housing mate, Stao explained they need that space for the wastegate flapper etc. Even my new turbo which is externally gated has that plate: If I can get this turbo to bolt on with minimal effort, I'm sure your turbo won't be a very different story. How is your rear housing completely custom, what has been built differently to the standard SS1-PU??
-
I'm not sure which thread you have been reading, but the majority of feedback certainly isn't about hiflow turbos using the stock housing. LOADS of people here are using ATR43 turbos, and as Stao said ALL of them are fitted with a spacer plate. I have installed two of these turbos on my car now, and yes the exhaust needs to be moved a little bit. So rotate the hanger mount to suit. It took me less than a minute to get my exhaust fitting perfectly again after each install, no additional stress on the manifold or studs or any of that.

There's nothing illegal about having a 5" cat though. If a car is too loud, I wouldn't go about fixing the problem by using a smaller cat. One or two good mufflers and it will all be legal without causing too much of a restriction. And let's face it... If a cop wants to sticker you, there's plenty of other things they can get you for.
