well we have done that to a point where we like the t04e, and we wanted to trial it. if the trials go the same way as the maths then we have done something right and we will get a genuine garrett but at this stage the china copy has been quite good, just this issue about spinning has been the only thing and its been really good to learn about the differances between different brands as were only reasonably new to the sport. the forum has allready helped us to narrow down the selection, were just in the testing phase now

well experimenting with different turbos and sizes before making the final selection, and simply do not have the budget to get the top of the range for all of them. as much as i would like to lol.

ok thats good. but as long as it dosent make any strange noises or hit the walls and boost when its booted then it should be allright?

its a china turbo, reason being that i want to see how they work as i am using the car as a track car only wastegate is fine, working as it should. as soon as i give it some herbs it spins, the boost guage indicates boost is being made and it appears to be fine. when i stop, it just chills and slows down

its external gate. with no exhaust its impossible to hear for any other strange noises. its wet float bearing, not BB could not enough oil make it stop spinning?

ok i have also heard that a little bit of shaft play is OK but the whole turbine stopping spinning? surely that cant be ok

there is still air coming thru the manifold, it still has to spin the turbine. it has never stopped before...

ok, this is exceptionally weird the past 2 weeks or so whenever i have turned the car on, the turbo has spun fine. although today i modified the oil intake as it was leaking the old way. and when the car starts, the turbo spins and then just gradually slows down and comes to a COMPLETE STOP and on idle, it just sits there, no spinning. give it some juice, and it spins fine, but let it fall back to idle and it slows to a stop. this kinda freaked me out, because i am just about ready to get the exhaust made and thats all that left to do. and now this. so please boost help me. ok, no there is no evidence of scratches on the walls, so the blades are not hitting the side. and i cant move the shaft so there is no shaft play, although i can easly spin the turbing, and both the intake wheel and exhaust wheel have no obvious problems, everything looks 100% perfect. but it just doesnt spin at low revs. its weird its a new T04e turbo HELP

well i dont know yet, but ill be sure to post the dyno sheets when i get it done. im getting the exhaust this week so anytime after that hopefully i can get a good tune

sorry, by stock everything i ment stock as i bought the car, which had the basic mods that everyone has, FMIC, exhaust, and t peice boost controller and turbo is t04e

so, i bought this car a couple of months ago, with the idea that it would be the next project car. its going to be a track only car and i have de registered it. first things first, up on the dyno to have a look. 190rwkw on stock everything, not to bad. then after saving up for a while ad working out what i needed and what i wanted i took the car to the shed, and took it apart. i bought a new turbo, manifold, computer, injectors, coils, and a rolling dyno tuning program, and im in the process of putting all of that on to see how it goes. (yes my girlfriends sister had a party in the shed) and to the inside, i ripped out all of the interior stuff, sound deadening, roof lining, air con, heater, carpet, rear seats, seatbelts, gutted the dash, removed lots of wiring, most of the dash and i am making a custom alloy one. here are some progress pics. and tomorrow hopefully get the new dash finished so thats my liner so far, ill keep this updated as i do things. feel free to comment

hmm i was thinking about keeping elecy windows but that might be a bit to luxurious for a track car lol ill go to the shed this arvo and have a look and see if i reckon i can get it out in 1 peice or not lol. are you just after the motor itself, or the levers and stuff that push it up? how about the switch, do you need that also?

daz, i do have the gear stick surround if you want it, including 12v socket psi psrts i removed the dash surround, and its fine, $50 including postage to wherever you are.

i have the gear stick surround but the ashtray is rooted, but the face plate is still there so if you dont smoke its good for you and it looks normal, and it has the 12v socket also. is that what your after? $50 including postage

of the 4 months i have had my 33, 3 and a half of those months its been in the shed getting built, so i am absolutly obsessed with it. if im having a shitty day i just go and sit with it. and if i really need cheering up, i start it and im all smiles. i love my car, its been a challange, and as i de registered it, i will only be able to drive it on the track, so i think that will keen the novelty for some time to come
