  1. Actually it does bolt straight in. R31 bush and sway bar fits into R30 bracket without any problems. Here's a pic of the R30 and R31 sway bars. thanks again, JohnH
  2. 'Current market value' of an AU is around $3500 to $4000. There are some decent AU's on the market but you'd be looking at over $4000 for a good one. iseekool's list above also applies to an AU. JH (AU owner ... as well as a Skyline!)
  3. Hi Bob, There's an old discussion thread here that might help, http://motamota.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=93740 JH
  4. Hmm.... sounds like it almost bolts straight in. Thanks for the info. JohnH
  5. An old thread I know... The R31 brackets are different - the mounting holes are offset. R30 bracket holes are aligned. R31 brackets R30 bracket JohnH
  6. Hi, Interested to see any feedback from those who attended this defensive driving course. Any comments anyone? Also wondering about the age range of attendees. Any 'older' drivers? JH
  7. Hi Nigel, Thanks for posting the pics. Panels look good (and it's hard to find good panels once a car gets to the wreckers). I guess you already have experience with freight costs. I checked out some pricing. Pack-send was really expensive since they direct everything through Hobart! TasFreight quoted $135 per cubic metre (depot-to-depot Launceston to Melbourne, exc gst and no insurance) and then there's all the hassle of packing and transport. (Still looking for tie rod ends). cheers, JohnH
  8. Hi Dennis, Can you post some details or links about this please? John
  9. Hi Nigel, You say panels are in good condition. Could you post some pics of the car please? How many k's on the clock? Auto/manual? I'm interested in tie rods if the bushes are in reasonable condition. Maybe some other bits too. JH
  10. Well that's good, at least you're closer to the mainland than Hobart. Post up a list so we can see what's on offer. JH
  11. Hi Nigel, Try posting a list of (both big and small) parts here, there could be some interest. Also, where are you in Tassy? JohnH
  12. Hi, Service manual shows both manual and power steering for MR30. Steering column is the same for both, bolts up to either manual or power steering box. How do you plan to improve the brakes? Hubs and disks are a single unit. Does anyone know where to get replacements for these? cheers, JH
  13. Hi, Just wondering how this sale has progressed. Is the car still for sale? Has there been any adjustment in the asking price? JH
  14. Congrats on the car. Interested to know what plans you have for it. The forum is a good place to find parts. My first post here was to find a replacement distributor - had two offers within a couple of days. I'm in Melbourne and the local wreckers still have R30's in the yard. cheers, JohnH
  15. Hi,Can you provide a bit more info about "Goldie". Manual/auto? How many kms? General condition? What are you planning to keep? thanks, JH (will also PM)
  16. hmmm... maybe advertising over there wasn't such a good idea after all. JH
  17. Noticed your new ad - much neater to have all the pics in one place.A suggestion is to also post on the R31 forum. There's a 'for sale' template here: http://motamota.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=8831.0. Have seen a few R30's advertised there and an L24ET was sold recently. The ad's here L24 ET for sale. For some reason, the seller has removed the pics and most of the details - asking price still shown - $2850 or $1650 for the 'base car', whatever that means. cheers, JH
  18. Thanks Dennis and ydr... The good news is that the local Nissan dealer has them in stock. Part# 48520 0\L25 if anyone's interested. The bad news is the price $166.90 for one! Will look for good secondhand tie rod ends (while the genuine items gather more dust in the warehouse). No rush, current ones are still good enough. JohnH
  19. Thanks Andrew, Standard MR30 size is 185/70HR14 or 195/70HR14 (alloy) offset 25mm. So these are only 10mm wider with the same offset. (Ah... just noticed you spotted them on the other forum!) JH
  20. Hi, Tyres: 205/60/R15 Wheels: 15x6.5JJ 25 Currently on an R31. Does anyone know if these would fit OK on an R30? JohnH
  21. Hi, This one's very interesting (not L24E though). http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sa...nv-t293969.html However it's in SA. Just out of curiosity I got a few transport quotes. Best quote Adelaide to Melb (for the car only) was $180 with TNT. JohnH
  22. hmmm... two questions and one answer. Can I assume that the answer is 'yes' to the second question (and 'no' to the first question)?
  23. Hi, Can the bushes be removed/replaced on the tie rod ends? Or does the whole tie rod end assembly have to be replaced? JohnH
  24. Hi, This one's in Qld. No sale on eBay ($500). 450000km! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=320447023271 In Victoria (and listed in this forum recently). 344000km. http://ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=19879 Another one that didn't sell on eBay ($1200). 160000km and in NSW. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=280409408908 All are manual, L24E. JH
  25. (see if this helps...) P-plate friendly. Fits one (probably both) of these exemption categories listed on Vicroads website: Probationary drivers may apply to drive vehicles with 6 cylinders or less that are: turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne; turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio between 100kW and 125kW per tonne and that are considered to be a family type vehicle (4 seats or more) rather than a sports type vehicle.
