Hi all, I have an R33 GTS-T with 87,000ks The gearbox was a little notchy when I bought it so I did a service as recommended on this site with the castrol VMX 80. I also used the Nulon anti wear additive. It has improved all shift and noise but the box still has a nice notch into second until very warm, dosnt usually crunch (has happend once I think?) Is this normal for one of these? or is the box screwed? Would using the redline shcokproof stop the notch for a while? Where do you buy this redline stuff and what weight is recommended? look forward to peoples thoughts

Getting The Most Out Of My R33 Airbox
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
already have one in the post with shroud -
Hi folks, I have an R33 GTS-T which came with a hot air induction pod filter. I bought a std airbox and snorkle and reistalled it. Put in a high flow panel filter and made a scoop which sits behind the grill and directs air up to the snorkel Overall Im very happy. I was looking at a pic of an R34 GT-T engine bay and noticed the intake snorkle looks wider? Is this true or am I seeing things? if it is will it fit under the R33 bonnet without hitting anything? Might be a good way to extract a little more out of the stock airbox? Also are the intercooler pipes the same on both the R33 and R34? Thanks!

Odd Hesitation From Idle - Request The Help Of The Gurus :)
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah I had a bug in my XR8 once, I chased it for months and eventually ran out of ideas, in despiration I put an extra earth lead in and guess what problem solved. So i figured it couldnt hurt on the skyline -
maybe clean the AAc valve, I had a similar problem and this fixed it. there is a diy thread on there about it

well interestingly the porblem appears to be fixed. I cleaned the acc valve the otehr day and put it all back together and no change which I was really dissapointed with after being sure from what I have read that this was the problem. I took the car back home, reset the ecu and redid the battery earth in the boot as a was not happy with it and it has been fine since, 2 days now so I think I might have got it. Fingers crossed! thumbs up again to all the guys who helped and A++ to another great DIY thread which helped out heaps! -
thanks mate! where is the screew that they are talking about? is it on the ecu or under the dash?
-
Hi all, I have searched on this and Im sure its here I must just be blind?? wondering if someone has a link they can send me to a thread that im sure exists or tll me what the thread is called. Basically I want to know if you can DIY check ECU fault codes on an R33 GTS-T series 2? I made up a lflashing led for my old XR8 which you plugged into the diagnostic port and referenced the flashes against the manual to give the fault codes. I would like to know if there is a similar process in the 33 and how it can be done or at least if there is a thread about this. thanks!

I have considered the o2 sensor, im sourcing a new one at the moment but public holiday today which is not helping (i am getting all the casual staff on the phone who have no clue!) vac leak is my next step along with fuel (although its fine up top so i doubt it, however I will test it to be sure) I was only asking about the fuel pump in case it came to that, was just curious. -

thats is my next stop. Interestingly after I cleaned the AAC valve the car still had the fault, I reset the computer and redid the earth point as I wasnt happy with it and this morning it was fine. But I dont feel too confident yet, it might redevelop. Where can I get ahold of a new fuel pump and what brand is recommended? The car will remain relatively stockish so no need for an upgrade I would have thought -
Hi everyone, I am after a TPS and AAC valvce to suit an R33 Series 2 GTS-t. Will pay postage from anywhere After these asap Thanks Jason

Odd Hesitation From Idle - Request The Help Of The Gurus :)
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok time for an update. Swapped AFM for a spare and same problem. Tested TPS voltages and they are 0.42 at idle (engine set to on) and 4.1V when I open the butterfly by hand. This is normal I believe. I cleaned the ACC valve as per the tutorial in the maint. section and it has improved the hesitation slightly but not fixed it. It does it slightly still. It wants to stall when you slow down quickly but is now less inclined to stall when you take off although its not perfect. The other problem is that it is now idle hunting (more so than before) idles at about 650ish and then speeds up to about 800 and then slows back down to 650. up and down, up and down. Whats going on? what am i missing? any experiences woul dbe appreciated thanks Jason -
R34 Smic, X-force Cat
TUF250 replied to realor's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
hi mate, do you still ahve the r34 smic? does it have the black plastic air duct as well? put up some pics if you could please or send them to my mobile via mms 0431 286 689 If it all looks good ill grab it off you thanks -
hi mate, im interested in the cooler. do you have the air dect for it as well?
-
looks good, i can see you used the std ford top pipe to run accross the top of the cooler. What did you and up using to join the cooler to the std r33 pipes? whatever it is it looks good. I am trying to weigh up my options given this is a daily that just gets a squirt every now and then. most times its just driven as a daily commuter, i will never use it on a dyno or track unless one day I decide to go a little more serious and upgrade the turbo at which point I would definately match it with a large front mount. The turbo will remain stock and boost levels near stock for the moment. I am wondering if I should be sticking with the r34 gt-t cooler with the air duct to maximise responsiveness given the stock nature and driving style that I use.
-
Would also be after the standard black plastic intercooler air duct from the R34. Pics would be great Thanks
-
Hi all, Considering my intercooler options at the moment. I am on the hunt for a second hand return flow intercooler kit for my R33 GTS-T but I am also interested in the option of putting an R34 SMIC in. If anyone in melbourne has one in really good condition I would be keen to know what sort of money you were chasing for it. I would be happy to pay postage if it was in really good condition and in another state Thanks Jason
