looks awesome! do you find or do you think it would reduce my economy? ie more air means need more fuel etc?

Hi all. I have a S2 R33 GTS-T Manual. Only basic mods, full exhaust, std airbox with BMC filter and an R34 SMIC. I made a scoop the other day out of a flat sheet of aluminium. Basically it sits under the two screws that hold the airbox snorkle to the rad support. The aluminium folds down in front of the rad support with a curve and sits behind the opening that makes up the 'top' grill on a s2 33 front (the gap between the bonnet and bumper). The idea is that the air hits the scoop and is forced up into the snorkle. Now I know these make power. A ford tune shop that my dad uses did some testing on their design and were picking up 3rwkw. Obviously at the higher road speeds, would be useless down low. I know it works because Im cleaning more bugs out of my air filter than ever before lol. My question is, will this affect my mixtures (and most importantly fuel economy) by 'forcing air into the airbox and through the AFM rather than having it sucked through? will this imporove or damage my mixtures causing good/bad economy? Note I think I can feel a slight performance increase at the higher speeds but maybe its the plecebo effect, always hard to say! any thoughts here would be great thanks!

I have an RB25det S2 with standard boost and a full exhaust and panel filter. I run the BCPR6ES-11 with the gap set to 0.9mm The car runs great, cruising, on boost etc. I jsut got a job where I will do alot of highway driving. In fact 99% will be sitting at 100kph in 5th gear. Will I get better economy out of a 1.1 mm gap? or will it be bugger all difference to the 0.9s. Note I have original coils but they are in perfect condition. No cracks etc. Thanks

Doing Lots Of Highway Driving In An R33 Gts-t?
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
thanks for the reply. I figured provided i service it the way I do it would be completely fine. I usually change the engine oil (synthetic oil + drift magnetic filter) every 5000kms. Do you think that given the light loads that are applied on highway cruiseing I could make it 7500kms without any harm? at 5000kms ill be changing oil every 2months!! Now I just wish nissan put cruise control in them! -
I have an R33 GTS-T Manual skyline. I have just got a job that means I will drive about 120k return each day to work. It will be 95% highway driving at 100kph. Now this is my first import. I have only owned falcons before which are built for the highway slog. FYI, the car has been properly serviced. syn oil every 5000ks. new gearbox and diff oil, new plugs, timing belt done etc... Now as you would all know the car sits at about 2600-2700 at 100kph. Is that too much to be doing 600ks every week? Am I going to wear it out really quickly if I do this sort of rpm all the time? or will it be fine if I keep the oil changes up? What sort of lts per 100kph can a turbo skyline get if its in good mechanical condition when used on the freeway? any thought on this would be great Thanks!

Hi, Due to changing work commitments I may have to sell my Skyline. I am heartbroken to have to do this but I think it is going to have to be. You must know this is a 1 Australian mature owner and has been meticulously cared for. I enjoy owning and driving the car, not thrashing it. Has been beautifully maintained and is without a doubt the cleanest one that I have seen. Not a mark on the body or interior and has a Genuine 95,000kms. It is completely mechanically sound and has been services meticulously. Details and features are: R33 GTS-T Series 2 Coupe Manual 95,000kms 18" 350Z track edition wheels Turbo back 3 inch exhaust (jasma approved but has a nice deep note) - the car arrived with this from Japan Aftermarket radiator - cost $495 New fuel pump - Walbro item $300 Turbo Timer Twin airbags Alarm and Immobiliser - Professionally installed and all to Australian standards so you can enjoy cheaper insurance Stereo - Double din DVD player, Apline speakers all round. Professionally installed at $2400 the lot Air conditioner is VERY cold (rare for these) and the climate control system as well as all other electrics works like a charm The timing belt was professionally changed. Included a new water pump, new gates timing belt, new camshaft seals and new tensioners. Work cost $1000 The car has also been services every 5,000 kms with full synthetic oil and quality filters. The diff and gearbox have also been services with synthetic fluids. Body is clean and mark free. Paint is regularly waxed and washed with Meguiars products Interior is mark free. Car always has mats in it and the interior is cleaned regularly. Mechanically the car is perfect, NO leaks, NO rattles, NO squeaks, NO problems whatsoever. Drives like it was built yesterday. The driveline is very tight and the car passed a compression test when I bought it with flying colours. The car will come with 12monts rego and a RWC. The car is finance free and has never been in an accident. I am willing to let the car be tested in any way you require as I have nothing to hide. Now I know how good an example this is. I won't sell it for less than it is worth however I am open to reasonable offers. Looking for $13,999 ONO with RWC and 12 months rego I am negotiable on the price and will consider a lower price with no stereo, standard radiator, your own wheels or without RWC/Rego etc. NOT interested in trades at this stage. Thanks Don't waste your time buying a slightly cheaper skyline that has been knocked around when you can buy such a good example and know you don't need to spend a cent on it! Please feel free to contact me with any questions but no joy riders thanks, test drives only for those who have a deposit. Jason 0431 286 689 [email protected]

Hi all, Need a set of stockies for my R33 GTST. I know the S14 ones are the same. I would also consider R34 stockies for the right price. Must have a decent amount of tread on them. 50% or greater. I currently have a set of 350Z track wheels (18 inch) in very good condition that will need tyres in the next 3-4 thousand ks. Willing to trade for my wheels plus a little cash my way if desired. Located in melbourne. Let me know what you have. would like pics. Jason [email protected] 0431 286 689

Hi guys. I have a Series 2 R33 Turbo (manual as well if that matters? dont think it does) I am going to get mine repaired but need a replacement so I can keep driving. The klms on it dont matter as it wont be in there for that long. In fact higher is better because it will be cheaper Let me know what you have. I am happy to pay for postage. Jason 0431 286 689

I just fixed a stalling issue (same as yours) by replacing my worn out Air Flow Meter. Howver lack of BOV will do it too. just worth considering if you have no luck with your idea

Help Me Diagnose My Weird Idle/near Stall Issue
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah i replaced my 02 sensor a while back. got it from bursons for about $100. When the car was carrying on, which didnt happen all the time the economy was bad. but once it settled it seem to go back to normal. afm can dictate mixtures to a degree but when it was playing up you could smell fuel. probably the computer trying to compensate. you can buy them new from nissan. would be big $$$ though. Look around in the for sale thread. usually some floating around otherwise put an add up in the wanted dection. i did and got heaps of replies -

Help Me Diagnose My Weird Idle/near Stall Issue
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
already done, replaced plugs note even 5,000 ago with bcpres with a 0.9 gap (car runs std boost) and coils checked out fine. remember its an idle hunting problem and the car stutters and pulses as you accelerate then picks up all lost power at about 2500 to 3000. if it was coils it would show up in the higher rpm band from what I have read. im going to try a replacement afm tonight and see what happens keep the ides coming. there seems to be alot of people that have had this issue but no one has posted up their results -
Help Me Diagnose My Weird Idle/near Stall Issue
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok new development. really need some help with this one guys. The car seems to be worst when its cold. once its at FULL operating temp (say 15mins after starting) it seems to be ok, although the vac is still a touch low. I also reset the computer last night (discharged for 12hrs) and no change so thats ruled out. Also when the car starts the fluctuating idle, if i take off and give it a little bit of go (just typical acceleration) the car seems to hesitate and stutter back and forward while accelerating then over a certain rpm will come to life. maybe this can help diagnose it? Any help is VERY appreciated thanks -

standard blow off valve. seemed to often do it when its cold and actually improves when it warms but it can truly be all over the place. temp sits very stable and is not cold at all. maybe I will buy another AFM, could this cause it?
