  1. Gain depends on how crap the stock wastegate integration is. I have personally seen 3-4% at the wheels with an external wastegate being changed over to a screamer. Doing it on internal wastegated turbos is considered quite gay. Cheers, Matt
  2. The little green things under ports 2 and 5 are the knock sensors.
  3. Its much easier to do if you can get someone to drive while you look at the hand controller.
  4. is james his username? im gunna go search for some threads
  5. TO4Z is the ducks guts and will do 600+ easily.
  6. Ive heard that they reach full boost by 4000rpm on an SR20, would definitely be a top-end only engine
  7. Roy, have you got any audio of your car with the gate open? I need some more porn
  8. I'd love to try a GT3071R on an RB20 - I reckon it'd be a killer combo.
  9. What happened to the car roy?
  10. Hence my post above that everyone ignored Another benefit to JUN is that the lack of squish make it easier to tune the engine too as the tuning window is larger and not so critical to making power. When its an in-house race engine they have total control over everything (race fuel, tuning, etc, etc) they keep the squish head. Very interesting stuff thats for sure. Another topic that was raised with Koyama was the GT Cooling mod that is performed by JUN on the RB26. Apprently he had some interesting things to say about that mod too, though I didnt get the low down on that one. Cheers
  11. Ahh yeah you are right - I though he had an RB25 for some reason.. viking, do you have any other mods to your motor? forged pistons or anything else? I dont really think its anything to worry about as the engine isnt undr load at idle/startup so theres not going to be any damage due to detonation. Still interesting to figure it out tho
  12. Compressor wheel trim is bigger on the 25g
  13. id prefer an external to that thing any day
  14. The engine is cold and all the oil has drained back to the sump. my guess is that the sound of hydraulic lifters with no oil (perfectly normal at start) is falsely triggering the PFC knock sensor. Cheers, Matt
  15. I know this is a big ask, but hang on for 3 or 4 weeks and ill have the $$ to buy it. If it isnt sold by then that is
  16. isnt there a cheaper verison called FCTune thats going to be available? does anyone know anything about this?
  17. I had a ball just spectating, also got a chance to come up and have a peek under the bonnets of BU5TER, twoogle and the black 9 sec R32. I was very impressed with the cars, and all you guys were great blokes. Anyone know when "team SAU" be back at the drags? Cheers, Matt
  18. A tuner friend of mine spoke with Koyama himself a number of years ago on this topic - he said that removing the quench pads is only done on customer engines and that it makes the engine less prone to detonation, but it also reduces the combustion efficiency.
  19. How do I download attachments? when I click on the file it gives me a file called post-2054-1134686154.ipb which containts gibberish.
  20. Hi SK, Can you please elaborate on this process for me. "Ignition timing is even easier, stick the ears on and advance it up until you hear it ping then back it off. Do that at around 5 or 6 load points, then (off line) extrapolate that over the map. It's always a bit tricky at boost building time, so we have to spend a few minutes in that area getting the timing just right." Im guessing that you rev the engine to say, 5000rpm and load point xx, then advance the timing as you described, then go back and at the same rpm go for a bit more load until you have all the 5000rpm points done? I guess you then go back and do all the 6000rpm points and then intrapolate all the inbetween bits? Have I got this right? Thanks, Matt
  21. Sweet, thanks for the responses guys, its a great help. Im planning to buy in the next 2-3 months assuming all goes well. Just have to sell my civic LOL When I get one ill be sure to post pics up and write posts on any mods that get done. thanks again, Matt
  22. Hi Guys, I'm looking around for an R32 GTSt at the moment and im wondering how much these are worth? ive seen a few available at dealers, however they have all been asking $18,000 which I feel is too much. I am after a stockish car so that I can add more stuff later. Any help appreciated, Matt
  23. Hi Cubes, Totally agree there - I guess I was being a little over enthusiastic with my reply. It did have lag (as most engines with any decent turbo do) What I was trying to say was that the power delivery was really very linear, it slowly built boost from low RPM and was quite pleasant in its delivery. Cheers, Matt
  24. http://www.hondatech.com.au/forum/showthre...p?p=322#post322 oops, forgot link
  25. Check here for more info and some reccomendations on turbo Hondas. Adrian from TODA racing wrote that atricle, hes a very knowledgable guy when it comes to these little beasts.
