  1. Hmm, could be faulty. Bring it back and exchange it for another one to see if it still does the same thing. I'm not even gonna bother using a conventional boost gauge this time around in my new car. Once my AVC-R goes in then I'll just rely on that from now on to show me how much boost I'm running. .
  2. Hmm, you could be right. Possibly a faulty gauge. I used to have an Omori boost gauge on my old 32. The gauge looked ancient! Was a mechanical type and I remember it was always 1-2psi out. When I had the car dynoed a few years ago, their dyno chart always displayed 1-2psi higher than what the boost gauge in the cabin displayed. It was probably due to wear and tear though. Is the gauge you're using brand new or second hand?
  3. Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to post this. I accidently gutter rashed a bit of the outer lip on my rims this afternoon. Shattered as I've owned these for nearly 2 years and have not had a single scratch mark on them and have always taken exceptionally good care of these. Rims in question are 18" Work XD9's in the MBG colour (Madbray/Magnesium-Gunmetal with polished/machined lip). I was trying to get into a really tight reverse parallel parking spot and went in a little too deep then felt the rims scrape the gutter softly. I was hoping that there wasn't much damage done as I hit it very gently. After I assessed the rims there was only a slight scruff mark on the front left rim (not deep, around 4-5cms in length) and the rear left rim has 2x 1-3cm scruff marks. Both along the edge of the outer lip and barely noticeable when viewed from more than 1-2 metres away. However, I am extremely fussy about things that I own and love so I went and tracked down a wheel repair specialist. After a quick search I found 2 that was based in Melbourne but was only able to get through to one. He comes out to you and all he needs is access to your car and a power outlet to perform a spot repair of gutter damaged rims. The price he quoted me though was $165 per rim. I thought it was a bit on the expensive side. I was hoping for more like $150 for both rims. He seemed genuine and also asked me what brand and type of rim it was so I replied they were Work Japan rims with a machined alloy lip. Apparently he has worked with Work rims before and according to him the spot repair comes out quite good and blends in well with the original lip so it won't be that obvious (was told that some machined lipped rims don't tend to blend in very well once repaired and the spot where the repair was undertaken is often quite noticeable). What do you all think? Should I even bother to have it repaired? Like I said, I'm very careful and always cautious whenever I drive and park but obviously it might happen again and then I'll have to spend money fixing again it a second time. My cousin told me that he wouldn't bother as the damage is not very bad and would only spend the money to fix it if he was going to sell them or something. I don't plan on selling them anytime soon as Work does not manufacture this particular colour/finish anymore so I want to hold on to them for as long as I can. I'll post up some photos so people can see what I'm talking about. Alternatively, I googled some other ways to repair the small marks and a lot of people have put up DIY's and they all seem fairly straightforward. I came across one guy who repaired the damaged machined lip on his Work VS-XX's and posted before/after photos. The end result looked amazing. He used a combination of low and high grit wet/dry sandpaper plus metal polish to finish it off. Apparently took around 90 minutes per rim. I'm not completely comfortable with going down this route though because I'm worried that I might do more harm than good as I'm inexperienced with sanding and grinding etc.
  4. Nah won't matter if the stock gauge is disconnected or not.

Sorry guys but I think if you want to argue then move it over to the Wasteland or something. This is a thread for car spotting, not a fighting arena.
  6. Hmm, not sure. I've always tapped boost gauges directly off the plenum itself. Never really tried to tee it off an existing line. It definitely should be reading somewhere in the negatives on idle though.
  7. Mine currently sits on -15/16 during idle. All my previous turbo cars sat around that mark on the boost gauge during idle so I'm assuming it's pretty normal and you have got nothing to worry about. I had a vacuum leak once and it sat on like -5, but once I fixed the leak it went back to -15 again.

It's funny that you say that because we were actually hoping to organise a small GOR cruise around August/September. Been planning this for the past few months but still waiting for a few of our mates to finish their cars off and then we'll start setting things into motion. So far I've confirmed about 20 cars that are committing to the cruise. Our last (biggish) cruise we did was last year to Lake Mountain. Was awesome and can't wait to do something like that again.

Thanks bro. I'm not around the north nowadays as much as I used to. I live in Geelong, ex gf lives in Epping but I still come up to see her every 1-2 weeks so I'll give you a beep the next time I see you around.

Still looked tough however. Loved the fitment on those TE37's(?). My car wasn't even washed for nearly 4 weeks after I purchased it (even during the time I spotted you) because it was always in and out of workshops and RWC joint. It already had so many issues that I had to iron out and I hadn't even started to enjoy driving it and adding all the aftermarket bits yet. That's what happens when you try to look for a bargain... Needless to say, it's all running well and fine now.

Yeah it's like $4 for 2 hours I think. Some of the restaurants along Brunswick St are good so we often go there alot on the weekends.

Cheers. Yeah that was me. Was parked along there for a while whilst we were waiting for our freakin' food to be served at Joe's Garage (1.5-hours?!?! Sheesh!) then realised that my parking ticket was running out (max 2 hours) so I had to walk all the way back from the restaurant to add another hour to the meter. Why did they change the parking meter times to 6:30pm-midnight? I don't remember having to buy a ticket the last time I was there...
  15. 6b00bs, Quick Spool, CES, HPI, Kelway, Powertune. Just to name a few... I've used 6boost previously. Extremely high quality and perfect fitment.

I also spotted you a few weeks back @ Cooper Street lights, you were turning right on to High Street. I was the white S15 alongside you but I was going straight towards Dalton. I only had just purchased the car back then and had the 17" CR Kai's on it from the original seller but repainted (badly) in black. I've got my other Work rims back on it now (ended up keeping them after I sold my 32 as they were too good to get rid of)

Spotted a white R35 GTR driving along Dalton Road heading towards Epping tonight. Love that colour on the R35's. Later on, spotted a nice pearl white S15 opposite me at the lights on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy (if you're on here buddy I was in the other pearl white S15 with the Work XD9 MBG's, nice car btw). Then about 11:30pm I spotted myself being pulled over along Dalton Road again for a RBT, lol. Was shitting myself because I haven't been pulled over in years so I didn't know what to expect.

  19. Get a genuine Nissan one from Just Jap or somewhere. They should be pretty easy to find. Clutch forks don't usually get damaged (not in my experience anyway), just replace the standard clutch pivot ball with a Nismo strengthened solid pivot and be done with it.

Spotted a Vibrant Red R35 GTR cruise past me along the Princes Fwy while I was on my way to Port Melbourne. Older male driver, gave him a thumbs up and got a nod in return. Then spotted a White R33 GTS-t on Raglan St in Port Melbourne. Stopped alongside him at the lights in my white S15. Also noticed a clean Silver R34 GT-t parked on Liardet St also in Port Melbourne. Always see lots of Skylines in and around that area. Kinda reminds me of when I'm driving in the northern suburbs and just about every car I see is a Skyline, lol.
  21. I got my Work wheels from JDM Concept. Great customer service and very fast delivery.
  22. I used E-Go to ship some coil-overs to NSW recently. Took nearly 2 weeks (depot to depot) and customer service was absolutely atrocious. However, I used Fastway to ship brand new rims from NSW to Melb last year. It was sent 2pm the previous day and I received them at exactly 10am the following morning.
  23. I'm not sure if he posts anything but just call him and ask, you never know. I've never needed to get him to post anything as I've always gone in there because my gf lives around the corner from him.
  24. If you want to track down a new dip stick as well, go to Jerry again. He got back from Japan last week. I remember him having a crapload of RB dipsticks laying around his workshop.
