  2. Probably one reason
  3. I started doing that long before my tag disappeared
  4. Just reminded me of another daily driver compromise - heat range 6 plugs. Great for my 15 minute commutes but they die in the ass on high boost after 5000km - will need 7s at least for the track.
  5. I said a better driver Ooooooh
  6. Related: there is a belief I read about not long ago that most men at 6ft and above (and not overweight) already possess the muscular strength for a vertical leap to dunk a basketball, but the muscles simply do not work together in perfect synergy and timing until you've trained them with a lot of jumping exercises. Basically, you can squat all you like and this will of course help your vertical leap through explosive strength, but if you don't actually jump and train the muscles to work together it severely limits your potential in the vertical. I don't know about the dunking a ball part, but certainly your vertical leap increases dramatically with jump exercises before you've even gained extra strength in the legs.
  7. I've found similar things when squatting in racks with mirrors vs squatting without. My gym has their racks in front of their full length wall mirror and it was only when I trained at a gym with no mirrors that I realised how much I relied on sight for my squatting form. It felt weird at first and I thought my form would be worse, but I ended up lifting more weight with better feeling form, instantly. Felt better in tune with my body; could actually feel the whole motion. Upon returning to my gym I achieved a similar thing by squatting and forcing my eyes out of focus so that I couldn't see my reflection easily. I've since trained my form up to a point where I can look at the mirror and not throw my form off.
  8. It's a manageable daily. There are much more friendly cars going about on the street, but people are surprised when they drive it how palatable it is for the power output and how quick it can be putted around mountain roads. I modified it with the intention to make it capable and retain some creature comfort - expensive process and ultimately a compromise for the street is usually a compromise at the track, yes, but even things like 0 camber for a street setup, tyre and brake pad choice...things I can easily change before a track day...make it a better daily driver. Adjustable everywhere and poly bushes throughout, the KAAZ 1.5 way is wonderfully predictable and helps her to be tail happy when you want it to be, really helps with turn in at moderate to higher speeds and the opposite at lower. Granted I'm not doing 160km/h corners on the street, but it'll be interesting to see how the car goes nonetheless. I think the suspension would be the thing to hold it back given the struts sound a bit shot after years of Toorak Rd. If nothing else I still have a decent whack of power to make use of our long straights. Could always give a better driver a chance in it and see what they think.

  10. GTS-T will hit the track before the GTR does And if it's slow it'll be the driver, thing is reasonably well set up for a daily

  23. Second hand gearboxes are a giant pain in the ass. They should have done that simple test but even if that checks out fine you can end up with all manner of whines and rumbles and rattles after putting it in. Lots and lots of people selling dodgy gearboxes because even pulling them apart and inspecting won't reveal everything. Always safer to recondition it, but even then you can get noises that just won't go away. Used to buy a lot of second hand gearboxes from wreckers and they just had to suck it up when we would come across a shit one and say replace it with a good one. After selling oil to workshops for years and supplying them with gearboxes, I too have seen how stupid/lazy/costcutting so many of them can be. Put it this way, I wouldn't take my car to 80-90% of the workshops I supplied to. Not that it's always their fault, the market is so flooded and competitive that if you don't cost cut or and don't have a niche or loyal customer base built up over years, you're a gonner. But yeah there are some dumb mechanics out there and rightly so...plenty of stupids with an interest in cars who wanna make a living out of it and what's stopping them.
