I play domestic comp on Tuesday nights. It's good fun and most don't take themselves too seriously. Our team is called the "Bill Murrays"; made up of a few regulars, plus fill ins from more serious conferences/associations. Our uniform is based on those from the movie Dodgeball: Tonight we were fortunate to nab two players from the Knox Raiders (SEABL), who allowed us a 62-30 win. Best shot I've ever pulled off: clutch shot from just outside the key, passed to me in the last 6 seconds of the game. We were down 29-30 against the leading team in the comp, while we were sitting penultimate on the ladder. Crazy underdog shit; many beers were had afterwards and, as I'm probably the least experienced player in my team, it was all the better! Only been playing for a year and I love the sport.

Squats cure fk all. Great exercise, but deadlifts are the tried and tested replacement for a chiro.

True enthusiast right here! It's about the cars, not pencils and pencil sharpeners Not that I hate on the girls who clearly play up their gender and draw attention to it to get ahead / gain status in male dominated environments (I'd probably be one of them if I were female), but they do enthusiasts within your gender a massive disservice. I certainly have more respect for those who are happy to be another guy amongst the guys. It's no doubt tough to pull this off at times, but the more girls like you getting around and doing it, the more seriously the rest of the community are likely to take your gender as genuine, regular enthusiasts. Pioneers for mediocrity! lol I understand that OP might be experiencing singling out / not being taken seriously within her own social circles...and has presented what she feels to be an appropriate response/solution to it...but it just plays up the segregation that caused her problems in the first place, doing more harm than good. Car clubs are still traditionally male dominated environments; you have to expect hurdles as a female. But assimilation is much better for the cause than segregation!

It doesn't really matter what you do to avoid it, if they really want to get you for something, they can. They have the discretionary power for it. Let's not forget their greatest one - writing down a number plate, sending a report to the EPA and having a test notice rock up in your mail. It's for this reason that I'd never argue with a cop about a defect or the shit he issues you, you'll only make it worse; fight it in court instead, when he can't see your car, or he'll get you on something "legitimate" like an EPA notice.

Have a look at my posts in this thread from start to finish (it's not that long)...you'll see a gradual pattern of stepping up weight, both in volume and single rep training. You don't have to do as many reps as I do, as the exercise does favour low reps and I love my volume, but you'll see that what makes a difference over time is stepping up the weight as often as you can. Singles are good for this, because you're adding a minuscule amount of weight to them every session, so you barely notice the difference, but over time it adds up. Obviously look after your technique first and foremost, but don't be afraid to put that weight up. As Markos says, people major in the minor shit too much. Rep ranges have their place, but your focus should be on trying to get the weight up. If you can't do that, then do more sets and reps.

Markos, I remember you saying not long ago that nothing you see amazes you anymore. I'm curious: what's the most impressive or amazing thing you've ever seen with regard to lifting?

You get along with all your neighbors? Just wondering if one of them might have dobbed your brother in for his car being loud / noise complaint.

I won't be sorry if that cunt ever gets cancer. Throw a big farkin party.

I'm guessing he saw Brent's car out somewhere and looked up the address it was registered to so he could drop by for a look. I see no reason for a cop car to be casually traveling down your street, Leigh. Too lazy to pull over these days...just note registration and inspect later. Fucked up shit. Fking cops. How much worse can this shit get? Hand over money to buy an import from a dealer and it comes with a free RW inspection from Knox TMU?

Still waiting for that accountant apprenticeship from B&W... Or you can handball me SAU's tax returns
-
I would convert your increased salary into tax deductible super contributions, thereby minimizing the tax paid on both the super contributions and your taxable income as a whole. I have no idea what I'm talking about.

And they kept their word too...VicPol's "stay right here" policy is much better for issuing defects. Really, the meet organisers couldn't have done more work for Knox TMU. Might as well have been a Jewish ghetto circa 1940. Also, fines are usually calculated based off penalty points and each penalty point is worth a weird, arbitrary amount of dollars (probably required revenue divided by projected issue of fines), like $144 or something. So it's not so much the cop who makes the number random, he just chooses how many penalty points you get on his personal dickhead scale. When I last got defected I had no fine, though the defect itself was harsh.
-
All comes down to luck, honestly...being a dick only works the odds against you. Being nice will help your odds, but you can still come across a cock head cop who will throw everything at you. A stay at Le Pettett in the presidential suite is a guaranteed defect, guaranteed NOU and a guaranteed fine. It doesn't matter how nice you are to him, or how well sorted your car is, he will find something because the man has a vendetta. Remember, he is the one who tried to defect a standard and near new Toyota 86... As for the Caribbean market meet...hard to have sympathy for people stupid enough to tell Knox police station where their meet is. Do they think they're the only ones who have tried to do these meets by the book before? Obviously a new generation of enthusiasts with strong unaware of how Knox TMU (and VicPol on the whole) handle their business: f**k any attempt at bridging the gap between enthusiasts and law enforcement. And police wonder why that speeding red Skyline on the Monash started driving on the wrong side of the road to get away from them... Vote for the motoring enthusiast party this election!
