  1. What part am I supposed to avoid underestimating?
  2. This strikes me as something Leroy would do
  3. You like a mainstream film?
  4. gr8 b8 m8 I r8 8/8 88e
  5. I think e-sports is tolerable because it's not as if physical attributes like dexterity and reflexes aren't used. Athlete is a bit of a stretch though - maybe "competitor".
  6. Quietly confident that E-sports will one day be bigger than the NBA
  7. They aren't and that's a fact
  8. Some healthy recovery for 88E post-panic
  9. 1JZ no shit Can't see a leak from fittings, just assuming there could be a slow one given the smell. Think it's emanating from the fuel tank actually, as there is residue near the fuel flap. What could cause that? Seems like the fuel tank is getting pressurised lol
  10. It runs at operating temp, decent sized trips. Car had been neglected by mother for years (read: rarely serviced and sat parked on side of road for a couple years barely driven), before I borrowed it as a temp car for Leesh to get around in. I've barely driven it myself so haven't been able to track personality changes in it, but it's not a healthy engine - boosts horribly with flat spots etc. blows a lot of smoke - 300,000km on it and that's probably a wound back odo. Fuel economy would never have been great, probably around 13L/100. Smells of fuel so no doubt has a leak somewhere, be it injector or fittings, was just curious if fuel could leak significantly enough to theoretically top up the sump with a hybrid of oil/fuel.
  11. Old Soarer engine is tired as shit, but being a Toyota it'll go for another 100,000km at least. Checked fluids tonight and if the dipstick can be trusted, the oil is overfull - by quite a bit actually - checked it twice with a wiped stick to confirm. I don't remember overfilling it when I last changed the oil. Oil on the stick had a bit of a fuel smell to it, but most tired old engines will do that. Is it possible that fuel is getting past the piston rings and very slowly filling up the sump, hence overfilled?
  12. I assure you this thought crossed my mind before any of the altruism and good will
  13. Should have added that this is for freighting stuff, so in terms of quality of outcome there's little difference except risk of fk ups / delays in delivery which admittedly haven't been experienced before when using supplier 2. Supplier 1 also has a monopoly as a preferred freighter so charge based on their name. But fair point that they quote what they think they can for a reason.
  14. Extreme example of non vs tailored look If you're lucky you can find an off the shelf that can be taken in to achieve 90% of a tailored look, but will never be completely there or as comfortable
  15. Hypothetical work situation: Supplier 1: offers service for $2k that will guarantee successful outcome, cost has been approved by management, but you know the company is getting ripped off and you despise getting ripped off / feel morally obliged to do what's best for the company by finding a cheaper alternative. Supplier 2: offers same service for $1200, potentially saving the company $800, but no one will ever know or care that you achieved this saving and so you won't be extrinsically rewarded for it, however if they don't come through with the goods, it's your ass on the line. What do?
  16. Were you planning on getting back in again though? Thought you sold out to buy stuff
  17. Get one of the fly in fly out tailors to measure you up...so worth it. Once you've had tailored it's difficult to go back. Only problem is if your body shape changes over time... I think last time I did that I got the suit and two Egyptian cotton shirts for $400-450 with a couple of ties thrown in.
  18. Yes they were! 15 years ago we used to have a car club and forum for them with ~50 regular users. Sure got some weird looks cruising in a convoy of 12 cars. You would see 1 a week on the roads back then, these days about 1 a year if that
  19. Or a history of writing off cars lol... To be honest, haven't owned that many. I stay with them for a long time - R33 GTS-T is 8 years and counting. So with that in mind, perhaps we can include cars we regret writing off?! My first car... These were seriously underrated! Too expensive when new and shitty servicing by Holden gave them a bad rep for reliability. 2 litre non turbo putting out 110kw in 1989, before the age of variable valve timing and without individual throttle bodies. A friend and I topped out his at 230km/h on the old airport runway... I still have the engine, rebuilt with cams/gears, light flywheel, quaife LSD, ported/polished head, large throttle body etc. Might put it in a Caterham one day
  20. Can't relate to this thread - never sold a car/vehicle. I get too attached to them, so the only way they part from my life is via written off or stolen. I also see lots of regret when people sell their Skylines, so tend to use others experience to learn lessons without making the mistake myself
  21. 88E bargains...only wish I had more money to throw at it
  22. As said, fouling of plugs but also forced induction cars will run like balls until they heat up properly. 8 sounds excessive. You should run as hot as you can before spark starts to break down. Used to run 5s and they were awesome for quick warm up, but they started wearing out too quickly and losing performance. Now I run 6s on the street and there isn't a great deal of difference in the warmup but the headroom at high rpm is much better.
  23. I've been to obscure car club meets, motorcycle club meets, LANs with people only known through internet, and the Melbourne screening of The Red Pill...I've learned to expect absolutely anything and the term "all shapes and sizes".
  24. Details? I did not know about it Another 30,000 for me
