  1. He's not. He's a fan of condolences.
  2. I'm a washed up celebrity on there I created their level Some seriously interesting stuff on there though. It used to be nothing but speculation and cheering each other on for support during the downturn, with a rare informative post here and there. Now there are some experts on rock mechanics and oil drilling offering up explanations of events. Will be staying tuned.
  3. Shhh...you'll piss off the autobot.
  4. I've always called spec stocks the roulette of investing Also always say never invest what you can't afford to lose You either do your money or make it big, no in betweens
  5. Sorry, I think I misread your original post. I meant that they could all have buggered piston rings and not just one. Though I guess there is a possibility the walls were not honed correctly? Tolerances are all matched up fine, I assume?
  6. This is likely... Solution: marry car enthusiast, wedding present = car stuff you both enjoy
  7. Guys on HC are seeing it as good/last opportunity to get in cheap before the big rise. I'm with them. Sadly house has diminished my capacity for investment but I'd still be comfortable with 20k in this share if I had it on me. Gotta stay with the company fundamentals, which has been nothing but good news thus far.
  8. Bloodbath for 88E on the ASX People either didn't understand or didn't like the latest operations update...good opportunity to get some cheap shares before the potential blast off... Gutted I topped up last week at 5.5
  9. Funny thread Think I lucked out with a car enthusiast girlfriend; can't relate to many of the issues described
  10. Why wouldn't they all suffer the same fate/damage? You're repeating the same process for preparation, installation and running in of each cylinder which happens all at the same time. If it was just one cylinder then you could put it down to a faulty part...
  11. Why would you bother
  12. Kadir was back when SAU was at its peak for activity and general fun Those were my career troll days
  13. No probs mate, good luck with it This problem should be easy for them to suss out...rotating the tailshaft with it on a hoist will show where the culprit is.
  14. Comes down to preference for looks They are much the same besides 33 being older / likely to have done more km and the NEO engine in the 34 33 probably better for modifying, 34 (slightly) better for reliability
  15. Okay no noise in neutral could be a good sign because in neutral the clutch and input shaft are still rotating...so that means you've lost drive somewhere after the gearbox. HOPEFULLY not the output shaft of the gearbox. Likely culprits include tailshaft falling out / snapping (you'd probably notice this), a cv joint has popped out or snapped, or the diff has done a gear
  16. Tone and the internet rarely work together
  17. Yes, no point wasting a perfectly good bottom end on a rebuild / stroker kit until it actually pops. But it all comes down to your budget / what you want to spend. If you've got deep pockets then go nuts, was just trying to save you money by shaving off unnecessary parts from the list, as your power goals aren't extraordinary and can be achieved with less. Less mods also = less law enforcement issues. I'd rather use that money for brakes, LSD, future gearbox upgrade, good tyres etc. but that's me. Aluminum radiator, not intercooler. These are a relatively cheap upgrade / prevention for engine overheat when giving it stick.
  18. Ignore advice that might be correct and save you a lot of money...well you were right about not being an expert
  19. That dry test is pretty low^ Tried dropping the oil to take a look? Could / would be full of petrol smell it the rings aren't forming enough of a seal
  20. My next question was going to be...do you have a split type dump pipe? These are notorious for fouling wastegate flaps. I had the issue of mine being stuck shut with one, so it was boosting to infinity...had to grind away a lot of the dump pipe to clear it properly but it never fully resolved the issue until I had a custom bell mouth made up. Heat is often the cause of dynamic problems (issues that seem sporadic or occur after a while of driving etc.). Good chance that once things heat up, the diaphragm in the actuator could be playing up, or the metal of the wastegate/pipe expands and fouls on the dump pipe. Heat will also cause any pipe/hose leaks to get worse or better. Pull the actuator arm off the wastegate flap (little circlip can be popped off with a screwdriver). Then you can move the flap by hand. See if it catches or feels sticky. If not, you could replace your actuator to rule that out - can usually pick up second hand for $20 or so. One thing to be careful of when a turbo isn't making boost, is revving the engine - if the wastegate is shut and it turns out to be an intercooler hose / intake leak you can overspin the turbo without realising it / it won't show up on boost gauge.
  21. Does this noise also occur if you take your foot off the clutch in neutral? Or only when you've selected a gear? If the first one, sounds like input shaft has shredded its teeth or the clutch has exploded. If the second, then output shaft, tailshaft, diff or CV joint will be the culprit. You said there were no bangs or crunches when you lost power, which is unusual for losing drive. Could be a CV joint has popped out or teeth have stripped off in the diff/gearbox perhaps. Get it towed to a mechanic - once up on a hoist you'll be able to suss it out pretty easy. Hopefully it's in the drivetrain and not the gearbox/clutch that's gone on you - this gets more exxy!
  22. I've had my front and rear guard liners of the front wheel arches out for years. No problems other than build up of leaves and general crud near the bottom of the fender. I just wash it out with the high pressure washer. No damage under there but you will hear a tiny bit of extra road noise / any stones that flick off your tyres and hit the chassis. Only weird thing is from some angles you can see behind the front bar, but no one except me notices this and I'm used to it now. Saved heaps of scrubbing.
  23. Stroker kit and cams are overkill. People have made this power with much less. Parts you've chosen are great and will achieve what you want, but if you want to save 10k, do this: Keep it 2.6 litres, and don't open the engine. Intercooler yes. Oil pump and sump upgrade yes. Coppermix yes. Splitfires yes. Full 3-3.5" exhaust yes. Injectors, fuel pump and AFM yes. Haltechs are awesome but a PFC would also do the job fine - preference up to you if you want a flex tune etc. Oil cooler, no harm having for added protection but generally not needed unless you're hitting the racetrack. Consider an aluminum radiator. -5 turbos with 98 should pretty easily make 450rwhp, 500+ with E85
  24. Is this manual or auto? Vac line or intercooler piping/hose loose IMO...also inspect turbo actuator to see if it's not getting stuck open. If you're careful you can connect an air compressor to the actuator and /lightly/ introduce air to it - should open the flap.
  25. Any workshop can change a steering wheel for you If attempting yourself and you have an airbag, you may need security torx bits to remove one or two of the bolts - these bits have a hole drilled in the centre of them
