  1. i'd be getting a tyre shop to check it out for ya, you might be up for new tyres. ^^^^ like what was said above get them to check the toe & all other alignments you might have a tyre that looks like __/''''' (highspot)
  2. can anyone foresee any troubles with 17x8.5 +32 (F) & 17x9.5 +28 ® going onto a R33 gtst with stock suspension. not really after the stretch look on tyres (not my thing) as it will be for street use only, no track work at all I will be upgrading the suspenion at a later stage (possibly something like the HSD twin tube coilovers)
  3. havent had a problem yet, 15 & 18's not that bad, still get plenty of light through. 5's a bit extreme but meh, what you gunna do
  4. i get a warrenty every time ive got my windows done (3 cars - 2 with 18%, 1 with 15%) in qld who'd you get your tint through? that 5% is crazy haha let me guess, you dont have any walls to dodge as your reversing out your driveway? nice look on a white car but
  5. i had my 1st car with justcar insurance, and it had a viper alarm installed in it, and they said it was fine.
  6. I'm fairly sure those privacy tinted windows are about 20% or a little bit lower. If its factory standard I cant see how they can say it's illegal, as some oz delivered vehicles now days (say the subaru outback's , forresters etc etc) are all coming out with factory privacy glass on all the rear windows. & my brother who has just brought a VR4 legnum, it has privacy tinted glass on the back and it passed. I've always been told by the fella who puts my tint on my cars this...... For the rear window's (ie. passenger rear, drivers rear + rear window) even up here in QLD we can have as dark as we like, (obviously 5% is going to stand out like dogs balls on a white car) however, the minimum like previous said for the drivers and passenger side it must be not darker than 35% - I've never been picked up for my tint (touch wood) and i've had 18% on my other cars and now 15% on my skylines, as long as you dont go drawing attention to it & your car, but I wouldnt be going any darker than 15%.
  7. sweet, cheers for the info.
  8. Hey guys/girls. I'm fairly new to the skyline scene. Just trying to think of "what to do" mods to the engine. On my old 180, i went the stainless low mount path, with the turbo back exhaust & front mount, it went alright & i enjoyed the kick it gave. however having seen some of the low mount manifolds that are out there for RB's, there seems to be alot of no name brands tryign to flogg off the stainless steel option for around 300-400 mark. or theres the extreme option of getting a tuned lenth high mount steam pipe for around the 900-1000 mark. now being that its meant to be a familyish car (haha) i'm not after ball tearing kw's, just something that has a bit more pep when needed. How's the stock manifold hold up with a turbo back exhaust and front mount? - thats pretty much the only bolt on mods i'm planning on doing. (except for if a low mount manifold is good, then i might consider that) I pretty much want the car to look as stock as possible - obvisouly the front mounts a give away, however i'd be looking at justjap's stealth kit for that. wheels (a set of XD9's) will be the only other mod, oh & suspension while still retaining a comfortable ride. Cheers for any input. Ben

Hey all, thought i'd throw a post up in here, been browsing the DIY/maintainence, and all that for a while, havent really posted alot (as you can proberbly tell from my count). Been on NS.com for a while now, so if your from there, i_want_a_180sx is my username from there. Since i sold my 180, i got myself a 95 R33 S1 4 door. its pretty much bog stock, except for a catback and a rediculously heavy clutch (previous owner's idea not mine ). using it as my "family" car to run my little rug rat around. If ya see a 2 tone with reflective tinting on the windows in and around town(during business hours) give us a wave , if i see ya I'll normally wave back. Ben
  10. ^^^ thats good to hear about those stealth kits, will be purchasing one soonish. you say minor mods - as in trim a bit of reo and dick around with the mounting bolts?
  11. yeah its got one of the junciton box's - we sort of have the situation under control (minus the fact that my brand new slave has to be rebuilt cuz the o-rings inside have failed) Cheers all for the help!
  12. one problem fixed another arises managed to do a proper bleed on the clutch system however now the slave cylinder has failed - oil is getting into the rubber bellow of the slave so i think the piston o-rings has failed meaning either a rebuild or brand new one kinda pisses me off cuz it was a brand new slave that i brought originally but atleast i managed to get it working for a short period thanks for all the tips and ideas
  13. we havent tried bleeding the master with all the fluid in it. - prob why we are getting nowhere quick (if its not a master cylinder problem) i'm hearing alot of things about a seal in the master cylinder, is that just the rubber gromet on the lid to form an air tight seal? or is there a rubber diaphram inside the master that creates a suction?? Cheers for the tip
  14. Hey all, I'm new to the whole skyline thing (as you can prob gather from my post count ) but i've hit a bit of a perverbial brick wall when it comes to the install i've done and i thought you skyline guru's might be able to help. bascially when i got my car (S1 R33 GTST) i noticed that the clutch was a bit too heavy for stop start driving that i do to and from work each day (i know man up right. but with my genetics wont be long before i need a knee op hehe) so i decided to purchase a Nismo Big Slave cylinder and fit it myself. i took the old one off (didnt pinch the hose that the slave connects to) but i managed to get the new slave on without too much oil spilling out. tried to bleed the system, but that seemed to take forever and i was getting nowhere fast. basically not doing the bleed process quick enough. so with the old man, we decided to do a reverse bleed by pushing the fluid up through the nipple on the slave cylinder to ensure that no air was in the system (after reading many of the posts saying the air travels up the system etc etc). however when we did a bleed on the system, only a little bit of fluid trickled out of the slave nipple. - have i not bled it for long enough? I had a quick read over Big Zil posts (i think that is what his name was) and he seemed to have a similar situation on his R33 GTR - however he said that he got pressure back in his clutch but it stuck. however after turning his car on and pumping his clutch by hand approx 30 odd times his pedal feel went back to normal. My problem is i just tried this method thinking it seemed logical that when the car was turned on the vacuum pressure would start. however it didnt work (even after around 100 odd pumps of the pedal) so i throw the question out to you lot, have i not bled the system properly, have i stuffed up my clutch master cylinder, do i need to take out the junction box so the master has a more direct path to the slave so basically its taken me and my old man the better part of 6 hrs trying to get my clutch back any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers Ben
  15. - yeah 600 for the seat 900 to have it delivered (from nengun) so he's already doing you a deal
  16. hey all, been browing through this site for a bit now, thought i'd post up an intro. I'm Ben, from sunny QLD! just brought a R33 4 door (series 1 i think) about a month ago as a daily/family car , use to own a 180sx, but 2 doors and baby seat don't go too well together . trying to keep it fairly stock - but the mod bug hit bitten before on the 180, so i'm scratching my head as to sensible mods i can do to this skyline (and keep it somewhat familyish). definately needs new wheels, its got a varex muffler and some sort of heavy clutch (havent had a chance to get in and have a look) may seem a stupid question but can anyone show me where their child seat restraints are on the back of their 4 door skyline (i've spoken to a few different places, ambo's, dept of transport) and its a bit of a grey area as to whether or not i can just drill a new hole so the child seat sits behind passenger seat (for some reason, they thought it'd be bright for it to be in the middle only - however the skyline manual shows 2 different pics) anyways, thats enough of my ranting -
