  4. Fitting a pod filter to your car The first thing I did to my R33 GTS-T was to fit a pod filter, It is just one of the many upgrades that you can do, this is easy to do Things you will need before starting :Good pod filter :A good adjustable spanner :A socket wrench will be necessary or a screwdriver with bolt attachment to get down to the screws that hold on the stock air box Their are many arguments about which type of pod is better , e.g paper , wet , dry , what catches more dirt , what lets in more air. When the turbo spools it sucks a lot of air in and regardless of what type of pod you buy it will still make some type of noise (for all you ricers) . The essential thing to remember is that a pod filters purpose is to catch dirt that is entering the engine bay and to free up some restriction so more air can be sucked in . The most popular filters are the pod foam type such as the HKS green one , or the APEXI paper pod , I chose the Apexi Pod on my R33 due to the fact that it was a dry filter that didnt require any direct maintenance other than giving it an occasional clean. 1. Locate your skylines airbox 2. Remove the 4 nuts that hold the Airbox in place 3. Remove the Box and Unbolt the Airflow meter from the bottom of the airbox 4. Attach your pod filter to the air flow meter , make sure that their is something between the podfilter and the airflow meter, some type of insulation, the apexi pod filter kit for an R33 came with the insulating paper that bolted right in, this creates a good seal and prevents dirt from entering from any small holes ( a small piece of foam or filter paper cut around the hole will do.) [AFM] [iNSULATION] [POD] <--- air sucked in 5. Affix the pod filter to the chassis of the car (via a support) so it doesnt move, generally most kits come with a metal support with a pre drilled hole , if your kit doesnt come with one simply get a piece of metal , drill a hole so it can be bolted to the pod and attached to the car so it wont move. If this is done it means that the pod can suck air from all directions and wont cause stress or even damage to the pod filter or the air flow meter / And if its not attached properly it can mean a defect notice, which a friend of mine found out 6. Make sure the pod filter is bolted in and that the air flow meter plug is connected , I forgot to check this when I was installing mine and when I started my car it stalled hahahaha , 7. A lot of people leave the snorkel still attached as a semi cold air intake kit such as this , this way its directing some cold air onto the pod Thats it , take it for a fang **** EXTRAS **** If your looking at making the most out of the pod mod , look at installing a cold air intake seperate to the snorkel , E.G A piece of pipe running from the front of the car or under the car directly onto the pod , the more colder air you get onto it means more power for you. A lot of people have also benefited from a cold air partition which is where the pod is enclosed in a box so the hot air is kept out , like a fridge , it can be made from any type of heat resistant material have a look through super cheap or a bunnings , anything that reflects and dissipates heat really quickly , some type of carbon fibre , fibreglass or some type of plastic may do the trick , their is a post on here about how to make a DIY cold air partition Anyway thats it , any questions give me a PM Mark Note : Pics taken are not all from my engine bay, they are taken from pics i had on my hardrive as my digital camera is shit Images gone AWOL, please repost if possible
  5. bump , very very cool
  6. whose that bird in your avatar mrgtst looks nice
  7. a good tyre place all i can suggest
  8. 17K Rims , Bkit , exhst, ic tt , basic stuff, i originally had it in the paper for 22 but realised after 3 weeks of only 1 call that i dropped the price to 17 and sold it a week later, it is an import afterall, those 2 cars are pretty modded up , i got **** all for my mods
  9. 22500 , 25000 ? asking a bit much arent you for series 1 , good luck with it though im sure youll need it my suggestion rebecca if your going to pay that sort of money for a skyline then save for an r34 , almost as much as half the guys are asking on here for theirs , give it a few months I for one have sold my r33 and am looking to get into a nother one , have you considered a cheapy? i have seen a few 33's n/a's in these forums and in the paper for 13-14 some with mods few nice gtst's hanging around for 16K with a few mods , or cruise perthcars.com dont rush into one im not , save as much as you can before you buy it , no rush youll get into 1 eventually just remember they depreciate in value very quickly and the price of r33's are going down alot more importers coming on board etc..
  10. good thinking , seemed a bit of a waste of money
  11. no panel beater could fix that its a right off maybe aget a half cut and weld them together but that is illegal
  12. the more air it lets out the less is going back towards the turbo , i didnt really notice any difference between tightening it / loosesning it , i would tigten it on a scale of 1 - 100 1% being loose and the top blowing off 100% tight as can make it on the line it was about 70% i found it the best so tight just not super tight seems to do both release air + make a nice noise tight noise not fluttery thatway you know its releasing it in 1 go not little bitts (fluttery)
  13. air travels up on bov's ____ | / | | | < spring | / | | == | | < exits / ______| |________| | _ _ _ _ ^ _ POD | ___________________ / INTAKE as air reverts back out it forces the cap thing up via air pressure and lets it out as the spring counteracts , so if you have in fact inversed it (flipped it) then its letting out air without any resistance e.g if cap is at top spring at bottom
  14. i think you have it the wrong way around , i sent u pm TOP OF BOV _________-- then spring / / (CAP) < = whoosh ________ Plate mounted onto intake
  15. have you got the pieces around the wrong way, i did this to my bov aswell unscrewed it too much and it went everywere and I put it back the wrong way so the gold bit that moves up and down was up the wrong way if thats not the cause have you tightened it enough? , and no your not missing anything mine had BOV spring , BOV copper gold thing(botle cap) , the top and the bottom , failure to that you may have damaged/ bent your spring? does it look ****ed? i eventually put my stock bOv back on becuase the aftermarket was shit not sure if its the same on a 180 but the r33 stock bov is mint give me a PM if its not it and ill try and figure it out by looking at mine for u/ le tme know how u faired
  16. give me $50 bux a drunken afternoon and the best paint super cheap can provide and ill paint it rainbow if thats your fancy
  17. did you need to find a garage in australia to import it through ? i thought the whole process from importing to finding it neded to be done by an import garage, or is it he can find it for you and then you organise somewere to import it for you? sorry for so many questions , its just i hope to get a 34 in the coming months . are you worried at all that the compliancing will fall through and they wont let u do it? or is it guaranteed , have you paid for it in full yet or just a deposit?? thanks
  18. nice one driver, im jealous is the compliancing on the 34's been approved yet? or is it still in the pipe works? if you dont mind me asking , how much is it all costing u?
  19. Put Down a price its in the forum rules
  20. with parts do you mean? Cwest Jumbo Aerofoil on the back of an excel? some wynns , go fast shitty car? Nismo stickers big enough to block your windscreen? a single blue neon tube (with launch switches) wrapped around the single BOSS Audio (from clark rubber) subwoofer in the back of a sigma? hes probably trying to sell it to you because you cant see the blue smoke blowing out the back of it or the 3 out of 12 blades left on the turbo. I think if i had a mate who was about to skip the country , and keen to sell me a turbo car more than 10 years old for a ' real ' mates rate discount obviously thrashed the shit out of , then well I'd be cautious you should be a used car dealer, you seem to be able to spot a real bargain . Or better yet a high school english teacher
