Highway Patrol officers were doing speed checks on the Pacific Highway at Bonville just after 4pm (AEST) yesterday when they detected a Holden Commodore allegedly travelling at 180km/h, twice the legal speed limit for P-platers. They followed the car, which went out of control on a sweeping bend at the top of the Lyons Road overpass off-ramp and crashed into a safety railing, police said. Police arrested the driver, an 18-year-old from Fernmount who was uninjured in the crash. He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police station where his P1 licence was suspended and he was charged with driving at a dangerous speed, negligent driving and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h. He is due to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on July 13. I still havent seen any reports in some the same context about skylines, WRX's etc lol

At the risk of sounding prejudice against certain cars... whats with all of the bad stories about cars...being about commodores and falcons? I read the news everyday at work and this is one of the latest articles: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5-12377,00.html People keep telling me i have a hoon car, but i havent really read of any skylines being crashed except for that red one...which i bet was stolen... BUT working in a country town, everyone here loves commodores or falcons and gangs up on me because im into imports!!! Anyone know any other stories or anything? Or even, can show me stories in the news involving skylines or WRX's?

Well they are kind of more expensive than normal cars lol! My R34 cost $20k, which is a fairly decent price compared to what i was looking at. Had to change the timing belt, oil, get a new battery, change fan belts etc Which came to cost for the products (few hundred?) because my dad and uncle helped. But insurance was $1500 as well! And i havent even begun to mod it! And i put in around $50-$60 every week and a half for fuel, because its my daily (but not really driven too far) but i mean on weekends ill take it for a pretty decent drive eg up to Zig zag then back down to freo etc I love my car, i wouldnt trade it for anything, except maybe a R34GTR or R35GTR I'd recommend buying one, just as long as you can afford it! Because the price of the car drops pretty much with every new owner! As for insurance, I'd never drive a car without insurance, but it's not me that i don't trust! There are some really ignorant/complacent/unobservant idiots out on the road... Plus you MAY want to factor in a radar detector OR money for speeding fines or when the cops decide they want to bust you... Only had my car for a month so far, so im not saying that i know everything these is to know, because i definitely dont! i just thought id add that in! But a summary is, the cars are great, especially if you take care of them, just make sure you think of EVERY possibility which may require large sums of money in short amounts of time!!!

yeah i doubt im going to go! I'm usually in bed by 9pm to be up for work at 5am! I'll prob just try to make it to the next sat night or fri night one then!

Shit if they got commission they'd be handing out fines left right and centre! I think there are quotas that need to be filled! But i hope no bonuses...

I'm guessing most cops who take their jobs seriously, who think that someone they're pulling over is an honest threat, will do something about it. But like ossie_21 said, i think they'll turn a blind eye to stuff like people doing 10-20kph over the limit or loud exhausts. who knows. but yeah wreckless drivers will prob still get done. i'm guessing there will always be those who will do their job even without monetary incentive... I haven't seen any speed cameras in ages, so i can't say whether or not they're all blocked. They'll prob just be more lenient, like sat night.

yeah ive heard a lot about this on the radio, the cops want a 15%(?) increase in wages over 3 yrs and are being offered 9%. So yeah, no infringements (said the cop guy on the radio) but still court action. be polite and show some skin and who knows what you can get away with...
