G'day Nick...long time no see My first post was an example of one way to stimulate the Ozzie economy without handing out cash. Sure business owners try and reduce their tax as much as possible (as every australian should) but reducing that from the get go means more money to spend on their business which benefits everyone from the workers to the shareholders. Look at it from a personal point of view...as an individual I get taxed through the nose....income tax, gst, fuel, property etc etc Reducing my tax means that I have more money in my hands which I can use to spend and believe me I can think of plenty of things that I could spend it on As for the infrastructure.....I couldn't agree more - not only is there a need to build these projects but it will keep australian companies going and keep people employed.

Lol it coming Roy....like I said above, no best times so will just be for sh1ts and giggles

So I take it that due to the importing rules we will be able to grey import the specV due to it being 'significantly' different from the model available to buy in Oz?
-
Well I can pretty much confirm that the R35 GTR is the new pace car for the supertaxis. Apparently it will end up with yellow flashes down the sides and a supercar logo on the bonnet I guess thats needed so the supertaxis can spot it when they can't keep up and its on the horizon :)

Glad to see I wasn't the only one running with those sort of temps but normally even on a hot day I run a max of 120. I guess that is the bonus of running 270-280rwkw in that I don't feel a loss of power when the engine is running that hot The only white BMW I saw was the beautiful E30 original group A car...do you mean that? He was in my group (7) and came up to me before the first session saying that he has only just bought the car and was giving it a bit of a shake down and test. Funnily enough I only had one session when he was in my group and the last I saw of him was disappearing straight on at MG The tool I had in my group was an improved production Civic that wouldn't let me past and when he left a gap on the inside of MG for me to use he decided to fight for the spot

Congrats Ryan..great time!! Very suprised to see my 58.5 time still stands for a GTR though
-
Agreed BB....too windy and too hot despite the breeze. Don't know about you but I was hitting some pretty serious oil temps around the 130-140mark before I backed off. In some sessions there was a lot of traffic and some people seemed to think it was a race, but the extra traction out of corners helped with that Didn't beat my 1:49.68 with a best of 1:50.28 but the fact that 8 laps out of 19 were in the 1:50's I was at least consistant.

Not quite true there adz....the letter I cut and pasted into my last post sums it up...we will all pay for it in the end. Taxes will have to go up to pay for it all which will hit high earners and business. This may well result in cost cutting which means the lower paid workers loose their jobs.
-
I too do not believe this is the best way to stimulate the economy....sure some people will spend it creating/keeping jobs but others will save it or pay off debts which really does nothing to stimulate the economy. As for the junkies who will no doubt blow it on drugs don't even get me started on that! Anyway a thought provoking email I received...

Punctured Re55 - Repairable? Safe?
Ant97GTR replied to tk80's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I had a self tapper bolt in mine although I think it was around the 6mm mark. Tyre places have diff sized plugs to suit but I would go to a place that knows re55 rather than just any tyre shop. As for driving on flat re's...yep the sidewall will get you home depending on distance but you can throw away the tyre for sure. -
Punctured Re55 - Repairable? Safe?
Ant97GTR replied to tk80's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Take the tyre to a type place that deals with motorsport tyres like this and they will tell you if its repairable depending on where the hole is. It isn't recommended that these tyres are repaired however I have had a puncture repaired on an RE55 and so has Aaron34. Mine suffered no ill effects at around 200kmh around turn 1 at PI and Aarons beast tested his at around 300kmh top speed and around 1:45min lap around PI As long as the puncture isn't in the wrong spot you should be fine -
Interesting....I have never compared the cost of building a regular house compared to a fireproof one so you may be right. However I know that in my business that when I buy a fireproof bit of equipment it does cost a fair bit more. I would setup the rules that it is a persons choice as to whether they want to fireproof their whole house, but a fireproof room/cellar is a must. This also means that people with existing properties can apply the rule.
-
Couldn't agree more with the above Bass....however fireproofing a whole house is a huge expense and will impact on the designs that people want in the bush ie large verandas, large windows etc etc. Rather just apply the rule that a fireproof room/cellar MUST be present. Compared to fireproofing a whole house the cellar is cheap life insurance.
-
One solution that would no doubt save lives would be similar to rules that exist in the US when you build a house in 'tornado alley' Every house built on bush type land should have a fireproof basement/room under the building.
-
That is an interesting question....I'd imagine that it would take a fair amount of force to break a camera away from its mounting (assuming it is a 1/2 decent mount) let alone it travelling with enough speed etc to hit a driver wearing a helmet and knock them out. In which case the car would've already been involved in an accident of some sort. I'd say it the ol' OH&S people getting a little out of hand....

Stock Gtr Seats For Track Work
Ant97GTR replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
When I started tracking a car it was a 33 gtst with the std seat and seatbelt and normal road rubber....needless to say I spent most of my time forcing myself to stay behind the wheel. I then upgraded to a gtr and tracked that with the std seat/seatbelt and R comp tyres.....it was 10 times better than the gtst seat however there were corners where my driving suffered due to the work required to stay centred to the steering wheel. So then I fitted a harness and all those problems went away which meant I could concentrate on driving the car rather than staying in the seat. The only issue I had with the std R33 GTR seat and my harness was the fact I fitted a 3" wide harness. This is a little wide for the gap in the seat and meant that the harness was cutting into my neck - no biggy. -
Rb26dett Recommended Oil For Track Use
Ant97GTR replied to Big Laugh's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
G'day Jay... Best oil for track use IMO and most of the guys who track their R's here in Vic use Castrol Edge 10w60. Secondly, for limited track use and the type of events you have indicated the std sump and oil pump will be fine - just keep in mind that oil pumps or the oil pump drive in the 32's are known to be weak points due to age and design. I would consider a new one with upgraded pump drive collar just for piece of mind. What I would highly recommend is a decent oil cooler with ducting etc. -
Tarmac Rallying Perpetual Thread
Ant97GTR replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Sorry to read of peoples mis-fortune but glad that nobody is hurt. -
Good work Paul What happened to the article about the last round at Morwell?
-
Yep not entirely unexpected but sad none the less. Lets hope that the various motorsport controlling bodies in oz can get together a decent tarmac orientated rally series.
-
Dezz...check out the incar vid's I posted in the Morwell thread from last year (archive section) +1 for it being a good place to learn...just start off slow to learn the track.
-
To those people who's world came crashing down when they unveiled the Stig.....do not fear as that article wasn't entirely correct

Great work Chris

Licence Suspended - Busted Driving On Suspended Licence.
Ant97GTR replied to r32gtrv-spec's topic in Victoria
The above is quite possibly the worst thing I have read on SAU....for a while I never realized that us humans could only use their legs once the car was created
