Thats what I meant in my post.....unless you are driving at 11/10ths you aren't going to notice a difference in the balance of the car with just a rear wing. I am aware that only the 34 vspecs had the front diffusers, however the std plastic covers (which ss8 does not have) under the engine do a similar job albeit not as efficiently.

Nice car BTW At this stage I'd say just go for the rear spoiler (haven't clicked ont eh link) but nothing too serious. The slight (and I mean slight) imbalance that this is going to cause will be neg until you are right on the edge. You are better off having the downforce on the rear than none at all....

I'm very keen to enter this to try an score a better PB....unfort due to various reasons I haven't had a chance to change my clutch yet and am in two minds whether to go with a slipping clutch or not.

big +1 for that! I never realized this was the case and it would make perfect sense to do as Snowie suggests. FFS a commo V6 with a few options comes close to the $57k mark and I wouldn't call that a lux car. Anyway this is off topic and needs a new thread somewhere....

I'd agree with Roy in that if the rest of your aero on the car is std go with the factory wings. No question that downforce can greatly effect the handling of a car particularly in high speed sweepers and braking zones. Merli what you say is correct but it is a balancing act. Nissan do their R&D on a car and design the aero so there is a balance between the front and rear of a car. Yes the downforce from a rear wing will act on the whole car but will be biased to the rear of the car. As a result Nissan have designed the rear wing to provide a certain amount of downforce to balance the downforce provided at the front of the car. Obviously this is a highly simplified view as there are other forces at work. SS8 I would go the R34GTR or GTT wing for your car and retain the std plastic covers under your engine at the front as a starting point.

It is also worth checking the fuel lines running in and out of your fuel filter under the bonnet to see if they have aged...although the fact it only happens when low on fuel seems to discount this theory. I used to get a slight fuel smell in my car...found the lines had cracked due to aging and after I replaced them problem was solved.

I'd imagine that this hoon hotline will be run like the litter one or EPA one. Ie the authorities need 3 independent reports of an offense before they can take action. Not exactly sure what the police will do after that though because in order to be charged the offense has to be witnessed by an officer. Maybe just speak to the owner of the car in question?
