  1. Congrats to all those that set times.....Was sorry to hear about the incidents but glad everyone is ok.
  2. Lol turn 1 and the last turn at PI definitely is a highlight ...but I'd have to rate the corner going over Lukie heights as a bit of a fav.....left hander over a crest. As you go over the crest you feel the whole car unweight and it just drifts over to the right....you have to steer back onto the left hand side of the road and break hard for the 2nd gear tight right hander.
  3. Sorry to drag up an oldish thread... It seems the police have once again turned to subaru for some undercover cars over in WA...
  4. James...while the car has its faults I think you should based on character alone...it has bucketloads! ...oh and I think the PJ edition or the red one is the go
  5. To my knowledge the LM editions only came in a special light blue colour and have special LM edition stickers on the rear roof pillars.... there are probably more differences but I am not aware of them. There was a guy selling one not long ago on these forums so do a search and track down the owner as he might be able to provide better info.
  6. Hmm thats strange as I had a std sized century battery in both my gtst and GTR (both 33's). The only thing that didn't fit with them was that plastic tray. If you want a sealed smallish battery that is a similar size to the original check out the Odyssey range....just be prepared for the $$$.
  7. Awww the memories Congrats on the sale mate.....it is always sad to see your ride go but onto bigger and better things
  8. How the f#%k did I miss that....CONGRATS buddy!!
  9. As others have said I got my steering wheel, handbrake and gear stick leather replaced in my old gtst by Gary Blackman. He did an awesome job and would take any of my retrimming there. Mine was done in alacantra leather for grip but he has every option available.
  10. I have transported a gtst and gtr with TNT using covered transport between nsw and vic and vic and wa. Quotes were good and the car arrived in the condition it left in.
  11. and here I was telling a mate that holden and ford fans wear blinkers...seems I needed to add Nissan to that as well! Facts are that all these cars are made for different purposes which is why I tell anyone thats asks for advise on buying a car to buy one for what they are going to use it for. Going back to the original point of this thread....as long as this 'modified' ute meets ADR's and various state laws then there is no reason why it shouldn't be sold off of the showroom floor. Whether or not you agree with these laws is beside the point....if your car is modded outside of these then you have every right to be defected for it. Of course what you have to ask the law makers is why cars such as the Type R integra were sold when they didn't meet these rules and yet they crack down on people who mod their cars SAFELY in exactly the same way...
  12. Also should be noted that the Nissan VQ motor won the worlds best engine award many years in a row.... Look if you want a change in scenery go for it, I'm simply pointing out from FACTS that the recent crop of german cars such as bmw's and merc's have had questionable quality over the last few years due to their build location. And James on re-sale value would say a euro loose more than an entry level bmw or merc in actual dollar terms.....Im not so sure.... (ie and this is completely made up...say if BMW 320 cost $50k new and resold for $30k as opp to euro cost $40 new and resold for $20k)
  13. Secret.....only joking the magic world of email ...and Jar.....that is not always the case.....to my knowledge in very few cases a car company will donate the car for the police to use but more often than not the police lease them and hence we are paying for it.
  14. dj is correct front rotors for 33 GTR are 324 x 30mm
  15. Not exactly 'undercover' but good to see our tax dollars at work...
  16. Yeah I read a little while ago that there is a guy doing mobile stud removal....try searching as it wasn't too long ago...
  17. Lol esp if the rumours are true and this warrenty is supposed to cover a full engine rebuild
  18. Great topic Roy ...and you listed one of my fav cars the Noble...mmm M12 goodness Fundamentally for me the car has to have balance....the car has to have the power matched to the handling and on top of that it has to look good. All and all it has to be involving to drive and put a smile of my face everytime I drive it. As for all the electronic gadgets....there is no question that they are there raise the limits of the car but also to make that limit more accessible to the average driver....after all it doesn't make good advertizing that the new supercar is killing its owners. However how much these gadgets interfere with the drive is the key, which is why I'll alway rate my gtr over any evo. Put simply I still need to think about how much to brake/what my corner speed should be etc etc...if I don't the car IS going to bite me. The evo however does all this thinking for you up until a stupidly high level. As a result I will always choose an F40 or MacF1 over the majority of current supercars....I might be going slower but I'll have a bigger smile on my face
  19. Yep and add to VW is BMW and merc..... ...and Troy, you sum it up beautifully as always mate
  20. Agreed...maybe next time we do this we have the photo shoot first and club meet after.
  21. HAHAHAHA you think those cars are still german BUILT....if so you are seriously mistaken! Fact is that merc's, bmw's etc are built in low cost centres and as a result their quality has suffered...in fact merc has been rated right at the top of the cars with least customer satisfaction and quality in the uk for the last couple of years. To their credit they have started to address these issues and things are improving with new models but unless you are buying a brand new car be very careful about which model you buy 2nd hand. It should also be noted that whilst jap cars have also been made cheaper to manufacture as a whole their quality is still rated as equal or better to their more expensive counterparts...
  22. Despite the dual catch system std on modern cars the track days we do with the WRX club here in Vic state you need one. There are lots of ways you can do this.....bonnent pins are fine with a std bonnent, others use a belt strap fitted to a suitable spot and I use a wire cable attached to the frame of my bonnent which hooks to the radiator support.
  23. Nice shots Sarah
  24. Yep great shots Joel ...once again black cars seem to be the hardest cars to shoot
  25. West, I had my gtst turbo hiflowed at ATP so give them a buzz. Depending on what results you want it wouldn't surprise me if it would cost around the 1K mark.
