  1. Yeah my Phillip Island footage was even worse! My metering was set to 'centre' and I have upgraded the firmware as well. What I might need to do is set the metering to 'average' or go for a drive on a sunny day to sort the settings.
  2. Ok finally got around to uploading some in car vids... First one is my fastest lap. As stated earlier in the thread some of the vid is washed out due to the exposure issues. Look out for the understeer of fail moment coming onto the straight Sandown Fastest Lap Next is the battle I had with an Evo and ended up out braking myself at the end of the straight...check the wing mirror to see how close he was! Evo Battle And lastly a bit of a fishy coming out of the Dandy Rd section... Fishy Enjoy
  3. Ouch....sorry to read that Dane. Hopefully nothing too serious is wrong with the car and you are back out in no time. Just make sure you get the missus to do all the work and that wrist will heal in no time
  4. Thanks Dan...had heard a lot about your car so was good to put a face to the name. Happy to take you for a spin as long as no one else has booked a ride There are three main components to getting times that low...first - seat time, second - suspension geometry / semi's and third (and this is extra important at Sandown)- balls The tyres I run at the moment are the Yokie A050's mediums - definitely the choice of semi at the moment.

  6. Well after a tough day I am wrapped with the result! My goal was to do a teen at Sandown and three laps proved the first wasn't a fluke! Basically a loose elec plug ruined my morning. Everytime I went out the warm up lap was fine but when I started to push the car would turn itself off around higher G corners. It was as if you had turned the key and pulled it out. I would turn into a corner, get back on the gas only to look down and find the dash and hand controller dead . This would last a second or two before coming back to life but it killed my exit speed. BIG THANKS to the Racepace boys who spent some time trying to track the problem down before finding the loose plug. After being cable tied I tested it out in the passenger laps after lunch to find the problem had been fixed. Congrats to all who got PB's, and mine ended up at a 1:19.43 which would've been fastest on the day if it were not for some bloke in a fibreglass bathtub powered by something the size of a 1.25ltr softdrink bottle . Russ given your day I have no doubt that it is only a matter of time before you put in a teen and I will look forward to our next battle. Good news in that it seems my new in car cam actually recorded properly this time, bad news is that it is still a little washed out exposure wise. I really need to take a drive on a sunny day and find some good settings for it. I will post up my lap as you can make out what is going on together with an example of how not to overtake a stubbon blue emo (but hey the overtake stuck ) and a good example of a fishy....
  7. In both my R33 skylines that I've owned I could put a new battery in it and after about 3 months if I don't drive it on a weekly basis the battery goes flat. During the first 3 months no matter if I didn't drive it for weeks on end it would still start. Considering I don't drive it much I got sick of this and bought a trickle charger and no issues since. Skylines are renound for this. If you can't do the trickle charger then do what is suggested above and isolate (disconn) the battery
  8. NOOOOOO say it ain't so Can vouch for this car...amazing looks and condition as well as performance thats proven on the track. This car should be selling for double the asking price and is an absolute steal! Good luck with the sale mate
  9. yeah Baron but an automated launch control is no longer allowed afaik. The pre set clutch point simply sets the clutch at the point where the driveline is engaged but the car isn't moving forward. The driver then needs to balance the revs against releasing the clutch lever much the same as us mere mortals need to balance the accel with the clutch pedal.
  10. To the best of my knowledge, while the lights count down (or is that up ) the driver releases the clutch paddle to a pre-set point which engages the driveline. The driver then dials up the correct revs and when the lights go out eases out (as opposed to a dump) the rest of the clutch paddle. The pre-set clutch point is dialled in both by the computer nerds and by the practice starts. Despite all this I fail to see what is going wrong with Webbers starts. He is one of the most experienced drivers out there and plenty of drivers with less experience seem to get away ok. The driver also gets to practice their starts so if there was something wrong with Webbers technique surely he would be able to dial it in during practices. The same goes with the car - if there was something wrong with the clutch pre sets the team has had plenty of chance to rectify it.
  11. Oh and it was remiss of me to say a big thanks to Jack for babysitting duties while I took the missus out for a passenger lap So when are you starting the track day creche and how much do you charge an hour?
  12. Thanks mate....if thats the grip I can expect from slicks then I'm going to stick to semi's I only wish the in car cam worked so you could see exactly how hard it was to drive....in comparison your thing just seemed to grip and go under power while I was sawing at the wheel trying to keep up
  13. Yeah I'll have to check the metering but I don't think I changed it which means its centre...based on what I can see the centre of shot was the front windscreen but will have to check the settings and go from there. The metering issue isn't what pi$$es me off the most, that is the recording issue....I did exactly that - turn it on wait until I saw a green light at the front and then flicked the slider which turned the light red. As I said the funny thing is that it worked for two sessions and didn't work for the rest. The card def wasn't full and there was plenty of battery. Loved the footage 'ants new blowtorch' and would love a copy of the original.

  15. LOL thanks martin....there was one along the main straight on your link as well
  16. As others have said it turned out to be an awesome weekend at the island weather wise. Thanks to all the peeps involved in the running of the day. It was a shame that some drivers were seen to be doing the wrong thing....not good considering there was a CAMS official checking all the T's were crossed and the i's dotted. I managed to convince the missus to come for a passenger lap - I figure that she has put up with a lot so it was time for her to see what it was all about. I was warned by a mate that there were two possible outcomes 1) She loves it and wants to take over the driving role -or- 2) Cracks the sh#ts and makes me swear I'll never do it again. After screaming her way around most of the corners for two laps either she lost her voice or got used to it. Turns out neither of the above two outcomes eventuated but she enjoyed it, got to see what it was all about and found out why I'm exhausted by the time I get home Congrats to all those who set PB's and I'm wrapped with my PB of 1:46.78 and considering the state of my tyres I'm not sure there was too much more in it. When I came back after that session my front left was literally bald as all who saw it can attest to! I'll put some new rubber on and we will repeat that battle Chris Now for the disappointment....my new in car camera After watching John's footage from Sandown I invested in a Contour GPS cam. When it arrived it certainly looked the goods and after a little bit of testing at home all looked good. When I got home and hooked it up to the computer I was dismayed to find that it only captured two of my 5 or so sessions...none of which were good ones. Not sure what happened but I operated the camera in exactly the same way as I did for the sessions it worked in...turn camera on, see green light and flip the slider to record, see red light, strap in and go. The difference was that when I flipped the record slider back after the session the red light was no longer on and it didn't beep when it finished recording. Not only did I loose some classic footage but the ones that did record you can't see anything out of the windscreen The inside of the car is nicely white balanced but the view out of the windscreen is a white out I'm sure the last part is my fault (I probably had it on the wrong exposure) but even so....any ideas with this John? Also would love to see some flamage shots of my car if anyone has any
  17. Martin/John....I am also happy to do DT as long as there is enough time between group 5 and 1. I hate being rushed to join my session.
  18. Mitch, thanks for the detail the car looks awesome On a side note would you recommend a microfibre cloth for removing any dust or is the best way a quick water spray?
  19. Hows that for a prediction....got any clues about the tatts no's for an upcoming draw? As echo'd in the motorsports section a 1:42 around EC is blindingly fast and I can't wait to see what you will put down at PI now that you are confident with the car. Well done, the time is a credit to the build and the driver
  20. Russ....awesome time mate beating some impressive cars out there - well done! Lol looks like I've got no hope of keeping in front of you at the Vic tracks now
  21. So just for the noobs out there, where do you find live timing....link?? All I've seen are the natsoft results.
  22. Just checked the times.... HOLY SH1T.....Russman - awesome time so far ......and the big name workshop cars are putting in some great times esp considering some of the aussie built ones haven't had much development. So sad I'm stuck at work and not in Syd for this
