  1. As the marketing manager you would be well aware of the gearbox and tyres differences between the V8 and your GTR right? I have it on good authority that the gearbox is worth a couple of seconds a lap as are the tyres. Take that into account and your 1:20 laptime compared to 1:14 isn't that far off.....
  2. Like I said there could be a range of things causing this but what I have listed are a common occurence in skylines. The AFM contacts fail and this is an intermittent problem...eg some people have experienced going over a bump and the car splutters before coming back to life. As for coilpacks I had this exact problem in my line a while ago and would only happen on full load at around the 5k rpm mark. Like I said it is fairly simple to grabs someones working coilpacks, put them in your car and then drive around the block to see if it fixes the problem.
  3. Dillon....nice looking car mate. Ok I have done this a couple of times before on mine. Best thing is to give it a quick sand with fine sandpaper (if you have deep scratches might be better to start with course and then go over it with fine). Then give it a spray with K&H bumper and trim satin black. It is very easy to use and you don't have to worry about a lot of things like you do with proper paint plus it is flexible so shouldn't crack when the lip flexes.
  4. Are you running an aftermarket ECU? If so it might be possible to adjust the idle via a tune. As for the lumpy idle and hesitation....there are numerous things this would be.....first step would be trying to fix your AFM contacts via the tutorial on these forums as it is fairly easy to do and doesn't cost much. My second step would be to replace your coilpacks with either OEM or splitfire items as just cleaning your existing ones will not bring a dead one back to life - before you shell out on these items it might pay to get a mates coilpacks from a car you know runs well and replacing yours temp to see if it fixes the problem.
  5. Yep had it since I got my first car....only things I use it for is a flat battery in the line or for problems assoc with my wifes car. Personally I wouldn't use them for a tow for my car unless desperate and certainly wouldn't let them diagnose a problem with it.
  6. What he said The only other way is to take the whole hub assembly apart and I wouldn't recommend that.
  7. [email protected] you aren't being rude as it is a fair margin but consider the differences between the cars....stock gtr vs 1/2mill+ race car. It would be better to compare say kennedy's 33 or markovs 32 which are between 2-4 secs slower and have not had anywhere near that amount spent on them. Give those cars the v8 'supercars' gearbox and tyres and they will be faster.
  8. Well the last forecast I saw said both days of the weekend were fine/partly cloudy.....I'd wait till midweek for a more accurate weather forecast
  9. Top effort I know I've missed a few this year because I didn't know they were on!
  10. Happy Birthday Bec
  11. There is no doubt in my mind that the GTR can still hold its own against these so called V8 supercars. Just have a look at some of the times some of the SAU cars are doing around Sandown....2-4-6secs off a current V8 supercar laptime. All that in cars with most of their interior and nowhere near the coin spent in development....also there would be huge gains in lap time to be made with the gearbox and tyres the V8's use as opposed to the SAU cars. Hell my stocky GTR is only 14secs off the V8 lap record of Sandown!
  12. Mate really sorry to hear that.....is just down the road from my place so will keep a look out. Unfort if it had an alarm that was on etc I'd say it was taken by a pro and therefore won't be spotted in its current form. Best of luck with getting her back....
  13. I think you would be doing pretty well to get a good series 3 box for 1100. The trouble with 2nd hand boxes is that unless you can open it up and look before you buy you are never sure what you are getting. For the power you have listed and you have $3ish k to spend without doubt go an aftermarket gearset like an OS....I've seen way too many std boxes in GTR's break with that power (granted it was track use). If you don't have the money then try an find a good condition 2nd hand R33 box and as long as you don't have a solid center clutch and are fairly gentle with it it should last a while. All I know is that the series 3 boxes have stronger syncros and a few other strengthened bits....maybe someone else here could provide part no's or something to identify them.
  14. IMHO with you running that sort of power I'd go an OS replacement gear set...with the initial parts cost plus fitting it won't be too much more than trying to find a GOOD s/h series 3 box. If moneys is short just replace with a good 2nd hand series 1/2 box....
  15. I don't want to whore up this thread so I'll keep it brief but what the cops know and what the EPA know are two different things. The good thing about that butterfly thing (or quiet exhaust) is that it will probably stop you getting EPA'd in the first place as it won't draw attention to you and you might pass the simple noise test with it as the exhaust shops don't look too closely at your exhaust system. However if you go for a full EPA at mcleod they do look closely at your system and most likely you will be pulled up on it.

    New Gtr

It has been written that a senior engineer in charge of development and design stated that there will be no GTR without round rear tailights....
  17. GTAAAH....please note that those variable butterfly valves are illegal according to the EPA and the chances are that you will be picked up on it here in melbourne as they are well aware of them. Basically the only way they are legal is if the car is fitted with it from the factory....ie ferrari, lambo's etc etc
  18. As per mod082 the weight difference is very apparent....I went from owning a 33 gtst to 33 gtr and nearly 'threw it over the roof' as well!! I have never actually fitted a gtr bonnet to gtst but have *heard* that it requires mods due to the wider guards and different latch position.....best to get the word from someone who has actually done this though....
  19. Theres also a track day at calder park on the 14th.....
  20. Mate they are actually series 3 xenon lights. Rare as hens teeth to buy a set and upwards of $2k for a set. Don't know anyone in Vic but do know they are available from Nissan and sometimes yahoo auction pages in Japan.
  21. Good to hear you'll make it Al....I've been carting around a couple of items to return to you the last couple of rounds and havn't seen you
  22. Oh man....I didn't know it was on.....anyone got any footage of it? Too be honest I didn't expect much more from ch9...as snowie says it is a commercial 30min show. However I figured that winning the thing would've meant some airtime!
  23. Oh ok...I figured Chris may not make it but figured you had a working car you might like punt around In that case sure you can come for a passenger session but if its wet I'll be taking it super easy due to very worn semis!
  24. Lol sure can if you want to see what a stock R goes like....otherwise hook a lift with snowman or scotsman
  25. Hahaha not sure if that was my drift or my spin but I'll go the benefit of the doubt and say it was my drift
