  1. Geez this thread has attracted some pretty heated debates.... At the end of the day you should buy a car you are happy with as you have to drive it. Personally spending $50k on a boxster doesn't give me enough bang for my buck.....sure it handles great and has great build quality but doesn't have what *I* would expect from my cash. And just to correct nickcorr above but the monaros were not fitted with bonnet ducts to differentiate it from commo's but were fitted to accomodate the US tastes when it was sold there....it was just cheaper to fit them across the board rather than just the ones headed to the US.
  2. Can I ask why the pics are from the thread about the series 3 gtr for sale? Or is he parting out bits of the car?
  3. Happy Birthday champ
  4. Hmmm where are they listed as the HKS home website only lists GT_SS and GT_RS kits?
  5. Happy B'day Snowie....have a good day and all the best for the coming year
  6. Jason....lol it helps having long arms ...also photoshop
  7. Thanks for the comments guys. Tell me about it boosty....my compact digi has a 5x optical zoom and the above pics were taken with the max zoom....even then they come out pretty small Time to invest in a SLR me thinks
  8. Anybody else got pics?
  9. Some action shots.....
  10. Hey all, Thought you would like to see some pics of the red bull air race from last weekend . It was great to be there and what was even better was getting home after the event to see the delayed telecast on TV to give you a pilots view of the manoeuvres! As you can see it is a bit difficult capturing the action with a compact camera (really could’ve used a zoom lens!) but some of them turned out ok. Check out the to_drift one…..that plane was taking off with a cross wind and got so sideways that it was pointing its nose at me standing beside the runway while trying to fly straight !! Enjoy, Ant.
  11. You going to take that pic I asked you to and post it Trent.....the one under the rear bar looking forward?
  12. Spot on rev210, on top of the fact that I wouldn't trust what an rac inspection says about an import in the first place
  13. My bet is that this is the cause....get it fixed asap cause brake fluid can be nasty stuff and I'd hate to see what it does to interior carpet etc.
  14. Happy birthday Chris Have a great day and I'm sure you don't need to be told twice to celebrate hard over the weekend
  15. You have PM
  16. I looked into this a fair bit before taking a contract in WA. The story is that Melb is my home and my place of primary residence....I am simply in WA for work on a temporary basis. As I am returning to Melb when my work is finished here there is no point changing everything to WA stuff, as two weeks later I could be sent home (ah the joys of contracting ). As a result the '3 month' rule has no application here. Yes it is true what you say about interstate plates sticking out but while I have been here I haven't been pulled over once, so as long as you are not driving like a tool it shouldn't be an issue. If push comes to shove I guess it would depend on the type of contract/job that Jason is taking in Vic... Oh and the 100mm rule is the same in Vic and applies from the ground to the lowest point of the vehicle, whether it be exhaust ,chassis or otherwise.
  17. Only if you don't have a residential address in WA Ash..... and Jason I will be on the cruise mate.
  18. Jason....I've done the exact opposite and moved (albeit temp) from Vic to WA...you should've asked me about it at the drags Forget getting your car rego'd in Vic with obvious big mods like on your car. Basically the rules are that if you still have an address in WA you can keep your WA licence and rego. If not, you can keep them for a max of 3 months before you need to change them. It will only be after this 3 months that you won't have a leg to stand on in regard to police. Any other questions feel free to PM.
  19. Ok trent....why don't you post a picture taken at the rear of your car looking forward under the rear bumper and that will help identify if the rack has been replaced with a lock bar....
  20. Can I ask how you know this? As [michael] asked does the hicas light come on in the dash?
  21. Thanks for clearing that up Liz....I have never met him so didn't know!
  22. Errr no...there is plenty of info on this forum to explain the GTR's awd system and I'd suggest you read up on it (do a search). Basically your car is rwd and only sends drive to the front wheels when the rears slip. The only difference between the std GTR and the vspec one is that the vspec awd computer does its calculations faster. On a side note I'd check that your car is in fact a vspec as there is a lot of badge engineering out there in regard to this. The unsettling feeling you are getting around the corner (aside from you mashing the loud pedal at the wrong time) is the hicas (4 wheel steer) system trying to correct your over-enthusiastic driving by turning the rear wheels. Once you have a little more experience in the car I recommend you disconnect this hicas system to make the car more predictable at the limit. And lastly that comment about 'drifting' couldn't be more wrong....the GTR was designed for GRIP not drift so if you are after a drifter you have bought the wrong car. Cheers.
  23. Well the final round of the 2006 State Autotest Championship was held last sunday at the AHG centre near the airport. From all reports there were some fierce battles for the final class placing's and outright championship points on offer. I would just like to congratulate three SAUWA members, Gavin Page, Andre Vaisey and Liz Sheehan who came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in their class. WELL DONE It just goes to show that you don't need mega horsepower monsters to do well against a field that consisted of Jaguars, supras, bmws and even one ferrari!
