  1. Yeah Roy sounds like Andrews taking this club championship seriously
  2. Adz.....thanks mate.....I did a search thru google etc but nothing came up. Man that site looks awesome......me wonders how expensive this is going to be R33TypeMS2Wooshka..........you must be talking about horus fitting his into the S15 air con vents cause the R34 mount goes on top of that part of the dash in the R33. Sammy soooo cool he doesn't need air con .....me on the other hand is a different story
  3. Roy.......as long as she holds together to put a couple of decent lap times in I might join you for a lap or two in a passenger session
  4. thanks Adz....any contact details or do they have a web site or something?
  5. Hey Guys, After much discussion it looks like I'm going the R34 look and getting a 3x 60mm gauge mount/panel that fits to the top of the dash above the centre air con vents. Anyone know where I can get one in Oz either in black plastic or c.f.? A jap company called 'Border' make one to suit an R33 gtst but the Defi one is to suit fitment to a wrx and I believe you can't modify it to suit. Ta
  6. Ta mate...but the gauge set I bought is actually a Defi one so I spotted those in the cata. Problem is you can't choose the gauges you want or change the size for us blind ol' bastards hehehe.......HINT HINT to Defi there
  7. Hey Snowie.....I understand what you are getting at but as said before we can't physically remove someone from a cruise so if they are uninvited and we have asked them to leave AND THEY STILL FOLLOW us around and have a stack surely we can't be held responsible in any way??? To cover our a$$e$ we could always hand the person a pre printed form signed by the committee asking them to leave and we retain a copy??
  8. Adz I haven't seen a lot around but the fact is if I'm going down that route the closer to the front of the dash the better as the further away the gauges are from where the dash meets the windscreen, the less obstruction they'll cause looking out of the front windscreen
  9. thanks for your help mate......I have the exact same thinking as you my friend......don't want added attention (in all honesty atm we couldn't get more attention if we tried to!) and I hate cutting holes in the dash. The cluster does look pretty OEM but still need a hole in the dash to run the cables thru. I guess if I'm going to do that I might as well cut them into the din cluster as I'm not intending on removing them. As said I'll let you know what I find out when I talk to a few speed shops around....
  10. Yeah it sure has......I've been well and very busy with work and upcoming family, which explains my lack of attendance to the cruises up until now....however I've been making time for the track days .....when am I going to see stealth on the track buddy?? It's a pity that Nissan didn't come up with the air con vent solution back in the 90s for all us 33 owners huh???!!! Believe it or not I have heard of people getting defected for that very gauge cluster on a R33 as it wasn't a fact fitted item (can't confirm as it wasn't a good mate or anything) and the cops said it obstructed the drivers vision. That is why I'm trying to get the official ADR rulings.
  11. Adz....just a question out of interest... An un-invited driver 'tags' along with one of our cruises and stacks it into mr general public. Are you saying that even though he/she was UNINVITED on this cruise, if mr general public finds out that an SAU Vic cruise was running down the same road they could sue the committee?? Surely our duty of care extends only to invited members (hence the list of members regos)?
  12. Look to be honest I'm not exactly sure how this CAMS insurance thing works you'd have to check with Snowie or another committee member but I'd rather claim an accident thru CAMS than thru my insurance comp.
  13. Well not very much .......bar the wrath of everyone attending..... However if you read between the lines of Snowies explaination, if a non invited person follows us around and they have a stack it won't be covered by CAMS or the club. Ie the responsibility will lie with the driver.....
  14. Hey Sam......long time no see mate (last time was MAS almost a year ago!) I assume by the dash mounting cluster thingy u r talking about the same thing that Adz and GTTR34 are......almost the same as the factory fit R34 one (the one that replaces the screen from the GTR in the GTT). Thats what I'm considering fitting but no quite sure where u r talking about. Are you talking about fitting it here ->
  15. Yeah guys that is exactly why I started this thread......I saw those 3 gauge mounts you can get for the R33 (look pretty much identical to R34 factory ones). Heres the thing....your R34 CAME with those from the factory and therefore clears any ADR issues.....but...my R33 came with nothing and after fitting to an R33 it is right in that *area* where the dash meets the windscreen and technically (from what I understand of the rules) is defectable.
  16. hahahaha yeah Ni any ideas on where to find 21" gauges that I can read from the drivers side???? Unfortunately the aircon vent is similar to the centre dash ones.....squareish with one side sloping down.....Anyway I'm going to have a chat with a shop this week to try and get this sorted as not knowing the temp my oils getting to on track days is playing on my mind..... If I get any ADR info while doing this I'll post for others...
  17. Yeah Ni I didn't mind the look of those dash mounted gauges in the ol' girl......well except for the 'extra' air con vent I considered that posi but with my eyes the way they are the closer to my driving position the better
  18. yeah I'm kinda after a 'fill' plate. Basically I have an equalizer in one of my din slots that isn't being used.....I was thinking of ripping that out, replacing it with a fill plate as close to the face of the dash as possible, then cutting the gauges into that (and a bit of the dash surround around the din slots). To make it look as OEM as possible I was hoping to get either a CF or black plastic fill plate for a std din slot (i assume it would screw into the same screw holes that the radios use)
  19. Yeah trouble is you can't fit 3 gauges where the a pillar meets the dash the whole reason for this thread is 'cause I'm weighing up whether to fit them on the a-pillar /top of dash combo (and therefore for easy removal) or to cut them into the dash. At this point, and with the lack of official info I'm leaning towards the dash option....the only thing I'm worried about is that I want to try and make it look as OEM as possible which means tracking down some higher quality single DIN fillers....any ideas on where I can find 'em??
  20. Rowdyr32.....just had a look for you and the list was updated last on the 23rd Couldn't see your name anywhere mate.....
  21. Wow thanks for that Adz....thats exactly the kinda info I'm after. I knew about the pillar thing as a mate has been done for it but hadn't heard about the passenger side dash rules etc etc. Makes sense though as in the majority of crashes the driver and passenger will hit the dash at some point so anything added in this area will present a higher risk. I have done a search in the forums using gauges and other keywords but it seems no-one has 'official' info on where to locate gauges. I have also searched various vicroads websites to try an get this info and it seems the only way to get it is to actually buy the ADRs. I find it very frustrating that cops and vicroads are more than happy to defect us for modifications not complying with ADRs, yet when you try to find the info BEFORE you do the mod to try and ensure that it is legal, its impossible to find...... .....I guess the vic govt doesn't want to miss out on all that revenue huh
  22. Thanks for all the info guys...... Discussion bout Taxis not relevant just hi-lights the difference between a 'targeted' group of drivers and everybody else
  23. Adz - If you can track down that info it would be great. I have looked at the Vicroads website and the only gauges they provide info on are external ones (spot on Nark ) RTFGTR - I think that is the understanding of the rule that I tried to explain in my second post. From the drivers point of view (eyeline) nothing can obstruct the windscreen above the point that the dash *appears* to meet the windscreen.
  24. browny.....thanks for the info but I had a print out of these before hand and as you pointed out they only refer to EXTERNAL gauges. That is exactly my problem...Vicroads doesnt seem to provide info on this yet I know people have been picked up on this during vehicle checks. FATGTS-R..........mate tell me about it. One rule for us and a different one for every import driver out there. Good points about the taxi setup.....also consider all those people with those little note paper dash attachments, toys stuck to the dashboard etc etc
  25. Nark, Sorry to hear mate.......Guess I was one of the lucky ones (with Krzysiu) who actually had a ride in this beast Oh well....stash the funds somewhere it'll grow and spend the spoils on the next import!
