  1. brackets etc. if u dont wanna wreck metal, glue peices of mdf underneath ur floor, and bracket from there.
  2. u could buy an equalizer alternatively. u can start from around $30 and work ur way up to something very decent like clarion for $150. or go even higher.. my friends go tthe same kinda thing in his 32, the bass treble options r hidden somewhere on the deck tho, some button, or sequence of buttons
  3. check if theres a warranty from where u bought it from, it might be cheaper or even free.
  4. cd audio can be played right after each other, but mp3's cannnot due to their file system no matter what program u use, an mp3 will not play directly after each other. i also have the problem, mixes that go onto the next song i burn on audio cd.
  5. i'd leave my stock speakers and spend more money on the sub/amp, and amplifier the splits really nicely. skylines r small cars inside the back seat so theres not much point for rear fill when u've got a sub and nice splits. thats my opinion anyway, it'd sound awesome with 6's aswell im sure (: u can use stock speaker wires, the smell u were smelling was probably the seal from the speakers on the sides etc. i doubt it was from the wires. dont go 6x9's if u've got a sub, theres no point... good 6's would give good enough bass too, whatever bass it doesnt output, comes from ur sub, and u'd rather those hard lower frequencies coming from ur sub, 6x9's would take them away.
  6. fit it in a mould or wood or whatever, and behind it put some 2inch foam to support it and wedge it in kinda would help a bit but nothing else u can really do.. unless u wanna put some springs and make a ps2 suspension kit (:
  7. theyre good subs, good luck in selling it. the buyer will be pleased for that price
  8. true and run power cable on the other side cos that gives out interference aswell doesnt really matter left or right, just make them opposite
  9. u'll be suprised how good it can look if u know a chick (or guy) good with sewing machine, could b worthwile good luck with the box
  10. bunnings sell carpet not sure on price u dont much so i dunno if it really matters spending the extra fuel to go somewhere else. i did mine in vinyl from spotlight, got my mum to sew it up etc. under some plush foam underneath
  11. who installed it? sounds like the power cables too small and so is the ground cable. not giving it enough power ur sharing the power between both the amps, before u were just doing it with the one amp happened with my install, i had 4GA powering to a 400RMS amp, i installed another 400RMS amp, but instead of upgrading cabling, just chucked another 4GA from the battery down. u may want to upgrade power cables or do it like i did. i think that should fix ur problem
  12. if u dont do it urself, go to a proper pro ie. not JB , strathfield or autobarn i had my first amp install done by strathfield, i gave them good wires etc. they used shitty wires cos they couldnt fit it and i only knew what happend 1 year later cos i had no idea about car audio then. (they used 4GA from the battery like i gave them, then as soon as they got under the carpets, used 16GA to the amp, yes 16GA..not 8GA, no dist block or anything) i ended up ripping everything out, doing it properly, which u will too later down the track im 99% sure
  13. the better RCA's r usuually just for show, they are of better quality yes, but its generally thought to be overkill. its like using 8GA speaker wires instead of 16GA or whatever.. And it will cost u about $80 if u get everything ur supposed to 4GA x 5m = $6 x 5 = 30 + 1m for ground = 35 inline fuse holder = $10 Distro block = $10 RCAs = $10 Splitters = $5 Eye terminals for battery amps etc all up will be about $7 speaker wire = $3 dont kid urself, these r all jaycar products and it will cost about $80 for 8GA install. I did 2 x 4GA cabling cos i couldnt get 2GA dist blocks and it costed $90 all up (cos i had a lot of things already) dont put the amp under the seat, its an alright spot but im sure u'd want to adjust the gains / tune it every now and then for ur liking .
  14. r u gonna do it urself? how much power does the amp give out? 8GA cabling + other wires = $40 roughly 4GA = 80 or 90 install urself = free install others = ~70 or 80
  15. u can buy crossovers from like jaycar for example which will filter out unwanted sound from one speaker and send it to another speaker u'll probably want to buy a tweeter aswell for the higher frequencies. The 3way speakers would have a smaller speaker in them to play these frequencies. amp wiring depends on the thickness of ur cables u want, depending on ur amp's current draw. Im guessing u'd want to go with 4Ga or 8 Ga. 8Ga wiring will end up costing u about $40 or so, 4Ga is $80 if u get the stuff cheap. (jaycar etc.) get simple RCA's from computer market or anything, those fancy RCA's dont really make that much diff. Installing an amp is fairly straight forward, its just u have to get a nice ground point on ur car, (sand back a bit of metal on the body and thats ur ground) and going from ur engine thru a firewall inside ur cabin. if u want more help i'll gladly go thru it for u, getting a professional to do it will cost about $70 ontop of the wires. and trust me, JB hifi and strathfield and autobarn do not do good jobs... best to do it urself. My sugestion to u: sell ur JBL's and get a nice pair of splits for the price u get , and amp them leave the 2 ways in the back, run them off the deck. some of the best car audio is from cars with no rear speakers (but have a sub..)
  16. $1000 isn't gonna buy you much in terms of quality really...but i guess what i'd do is alpine type R splits or some focal polykevlar's 2nd hand - $350/300 or some Hertz splits new ~ $300 2nd hand Alpine Type R Sub or some RF punch's- $250 $100 for wiring and sub box building (4Ga) Vnet 4100 2nd hand Amp - $300 or jaycar 4x100rms amp no rear speakers, no point. $1000 exactly put in 100rms into each speaker, and put 200rms into the sub
  17. stop your parcel shelf rattling by adding sound deadener to them if theyre metal parts, or putting a thicker parcel shelf would help (ie. 18mm mdf) and bolting that down to the metal. if its the shelf rattling (metal) just add weight to it, if its the parcel shelf on top, u can check bits of foam in between the small wood and metal too. good luck
