  1. u probably have ur antenna to the accessories wire or something so its always getting power. there should be a constant 12V that goes to ur headunit always, this is ur memory thats whats stuffing up the power wire is actually the accessories wire, it only has 12V when the cars on. Use a multimeter to check these if ur unsure of which is which with the metal sorrunds as ground.
  2. get some lower rated speakers, ie. nothing flash or powerful because those better speakers....require more power to move. hence u need an amp. something like 30watts RMS off the headunit i'd recommend. i sold some $300 rear speakers for a set of $50 speakers cos i wasnt gonna amp them, only wanted to amp my fronts. unfortunately, u wont get much bass from fronts sorry =/ 6x9's off the headunit will give u a bit of bass though.
  3. no worries good luck (:
  4. no, theyre scams remember, u dont get something for nothing, thats now how the world works. remember u may have to pay around 10% customs duty before u get the product. Unless ur buying really high end stuff, it may work out better buying locally from here and bargaining...cos u dont get warranty either. i used to have quite a few sites bookmarked...but this is all i can remember off top of my head www.ikesound.com
  5. LOL! hehe nah ur sites really useful now that u have the price list (: ofcourse thats rrp and im sure u'll do a better deal...but its nice to know what options we can consider.
  6. www.fhrxstudios.com
  7. some specs please. is it series1 or series2 ? pls email pics to nadesan@netspace.net.au genuine interest.
  8. whoops, i mean bump (:
  9. hehe thnx! sound nice? i was thinkin bout a single 11...but got this for quite cheap so im pleased with the buy (:
  10. finally picked it up and paid it off today. (took ages..im at uni full time) cant wait to install it....not that i have a car at the moment basically its all i can afford and im stopping car audio and getting into performance. I just wanted to fully complete that stage. (2 years of upgrading and wasting money..) Im not going to try and keep up with car audio anymore or engage in discussions (: ...but ill hang around to help ppl who r just starting out with installs/opinions etc. i hope i can be useful. kept upgrading car audio cos there was no point doing anything else to my old car (honda accord). sold that now, looking for a month so far (damn public transport sux) for a 200 but keeping my eye out on 32's as potentials.. Anyway, here r some pics, it'll run off 650rms.
  11. looks nice dude well done (: nice lookin clean car too.
  12. pics to me too pls nadesan@netspace.net.au
  13. damn! looks nice out of my price range though ...good luck
  14. the jvc shouldnt skip at all. especially for something like suspension no matter how stiff it is. my old jvc kdsx895 i was shaking it around everywhere while playing to see if it skipped ant it didnt. r u sure its not just some connections loose or somethin like that? 90% of new decks on the market today wont skip for those sorts of shocks so u have a few options infront of u . good luck
  15. an mp3 player with a 10disk mp3 stacker may suffice for a lot of people... cheap option.
  16. nup, ur right, a cap doesnt really do much. Only reason i got it was that i got it cheap brand new off US for $100 AU delivered when theyre about $300 brand new here. + it has a ricey voltage display. When i had my old battery, it stopped headlight dimming quite a bit. I have not noticed any SQ difference though, i never have from loss of current. About the impedence question, if u remmber back to high school physics where v=ir, when the resistance is lowered, ie. from 4ohms to 2ohms, u need more current to make sure the law holds. and power is composed of current and voltage (which is constant). so an amp at 4ohms will produce less power than an amp running at 2ohms. thnx, hope to get the s14 soon and install all this stuff! taking a long time though :~(( slim pickins
  17. 1 set. its a monoblock it can only accept 1 set of input cos its ment to have 1 set of outputs. wiring 2 sets of outputs makes it parallel not series. also if u have an amp rated at 1000watts rms at 4ohms, its gonna be like 2000wrms at 2ohms, not the same value. cos the resistance is decreased. (ohms law v=ir) each sub will get half this 2ohm power.
  18. nice (: be sure to show us some pics when ur done should look good.
  19. looks nice dude well done. be careful putting stuff in the boot tho...very very fragile...if anything knocks onto the cone pretty much game over. thought about using some grilles? maybe a glass panel extending from the box (few cm) and chuck a neon down low. just some suggestions for proetection. but looks good!
  20. then go for it. some bass in the boot is better than no bass in the boot (:
  21. something like that would do, as ur subs can only handle 120rms each. if u can get a cheap price on it and audio's not really ur number 1 priority, yeh go for it. suit ur purposes nicely. Sony's not really well regarded for its car audio stuff though..but depends on ur price (: doesnt leave much room for upgrade later on thats all...that being said, something is better than nothing. will sound quite nice with 200rms into those subs .
  22. either max or rms, not both. who told u to look at max ? pretty wierd considering a 1000watt amp might output 1000W for a single frequency for a single moment in time for a certain voltage and load resistance. and hover around to 25watt mark the rest of the time. look at rms figures, and compare amps to what ur going to run, in this case, 2OHMS not 4OHMS, 12V when the cars off, 14volts when the cars running. audison rate their amps at 14.4 volts.
  23. dont get sucked in by the 'wow' factor of 1000watts etc. or any max power settings. if ur subs are SVC 4ohms, get a 2ohm stable monoblock to run them in parallel, ur info doesnt say they are but im assuming they are...if each sub has only 1 set of terminals then they are. the srx2s is a nice amp, very powerful for ur application and i'd recommend it over any of the other listed amps. if its in ur budget, get it off fhrx. leaves a lot of headroom for any upgrades u might want. i know i was considering that for my amp a while ago, in the end i got a 2nd hand audison lrx1.400
