-
if its down to preferance fair enough, but do you have extensive seat time in the likes of say a VZ clubsport, or BF GT or typhoon?

work for a electrical contractor that specialises in air conditioning control systems some jobs are small, some are big.. recently completed the new direct factory outlet in essendon, that was a pretty big job with a nice $3.30 an hour site allowance was there for a good 3 months straight, with 350m cable runs. it was hard work tho, i lost a lotta weight pretty quickly and grew some biceps from pulling such big heavy cables all day long i have a good job as far as apprentice sparkys go and im greatful for that, as i the company i started with paid shithouse money... $300 clear first year, $370 clear 2nd year... no thanks. some domestic sparkys wouldnt even get that... and the jobs can be hard to find i look forward to minimum $32 an hour when im qualified in mid 2008 tho

some autos just dont allow for it either. which isnt a bad thing either, as its extreamly bad for it

i think anything about VP-VR onwards has been 'reverse engineered' if you like so that they wont spin so easily, as its generally NOT what you want from joe publics family cruiser... an early VN (series 1) is a different story, with a very short first gear and very punchy low down torque delivery (and god awful vibrations and axe sharpening sounds) they would generally absolutely fry the tyres if you put it in D (yes automatic) and took your foot off the brake and stamped on the accellerator... it will just sit on the spot making smoke

displacement is FAR from overrated, especially if you like drivability thats why i dislike RB20's displacement along with technology is a fantastic combination, and beleive it or not the position of the cam has little to do with 'technology' to all you LS1 haters hahah im just getting my 900cc kawasaki ZX9R registered now (from the auctions) and boy can you feel the difference when you twist the throttle compared to a 250-600cc bike... both have the same ammount of technology in the engine (all around 160HP per litre N/A out of the box) but there is a world of difference... forced induction + capacity + technology... now yer talking B)

i beleive the phrase is "breakin yo neck, wif da ecotech" its from calaisturbo.com.au, dunno the guys name but i think its a pisstake any way

sparky wages would be a bit better than chippy... tho the schooling is a little trickier, but the work is generally more mental than physical in comparison im 2nd year adult and take home about 600 a week without any overtime... but im getting heaps of overtime so its quite a bit more than that... 2nd year adult is same as 3rd year junior
-
i can relate to that
-
just remember its never as fun to work on somebody elses car as it is your own

my boganistic urges were strong tonight, felt like abusing some overly riced nissans with big shopping lists down the side, but i held back as i would clearly have looked the bogan in my 1984 meteor

Nice. very nice

i never really copped anything like that when i had my S14A only thing i ever really copped was "did your parents buy you that?" being a 20 year old with P plates... and no they didnt tho my friends gave me plenty about the car

everythings great so far tho if you cant stretch the budget to 3 phase and a hoist, think about a simple pit. just a hole in the ground that you can comfortably fit into with a suitable lid. gf's old man did that and it works reasonably well felt a bit hairy fixing a leak in my fuel tank from it tho.. as you have to get somebody to drive the car over you... pretty much sealing you in... with leaking fuel :\ ive seen others with steps leading down tho

i know exactly how you feel, i recently got out of office/computer work for the same reasons and took up a trade at the age of 23, and i could not possibly be more happy with my direction in life. tho i couldnt help that think mechanic would be a bad apprenticeship to go with, even at any age the money is extreamly average for something that takes 4 years to become qualified (average qualified mechanic might take home about 500 a week?) and as already stated the working conditions arent always ideal. and its not quite like the workforce is screaming for more mechanics any way. your only hope to be well of would be to do an apprenticeship, get a few years under your belt and then open up your own workshop, employ a few mechanics to do the dirty work while you sit on your ass... but that has plenty of risks attached i hear of diesel mechanics working in the mines earning 120-200k per year, but i think that wage is pretty common for anybody working down in the mines.. for a good reason also just because you might be a car enthusiast, dont assume that being a mechanic would be a good career... you should always keep your work and your hobbies seperate I went with the electrical industry, one of the harder apprenticeships due to the schooling (hope you know your maths... i dont ) but its all very interesting stuff... there are serious skills shortages in the electrical industry at the moment aswell, and the pay is a hell of a lot better than a mechanic aswell.. im in my 2nd year getting adult wages in a pretty good job with a union EBA so the money is pretty good... if i work on construction sites the money can be a lot better (some sites have $3+ an hour site allowance) and throw in a saturday and im taking home $1000 a week and the qualified guys are getting about $10 an hour more than me... but even on a bad week with no site allowance (or even travel & fares if i take the whole week off sick) and no overtime theres never less than about $600 a week dropped into my bank account... and im only 18 months in! stress is almost non existant, plenty of overtime available usually (gets addictive) and once your qualified you usually hold the power over your bosses - not the other way around! just hope IR reforms dont spoil the party in years to come another good trade with basically identical pay and conditions is refrigeration mechanic... sometimes slightly better money too! plenty of working with your hands and also using your brain a bit too (helps to understand the concept of refrigeration) likewise plumbers, carpenters, plasterers can all get paid fairly well too... tho it all depends who your working for... dodgy dave's domestic style work usually is pretty average pay and conditions, but unionised constructions sites etc has fantastic rates with good EBA's and site allowances tho you might have a little trouble finding a job being and adult... but i managed it so its not impossible try looking around, even ringing up contractors, factorys etc asking if they are hiring, most jobs are not even advertised i have found... you gotta find them yourself! if you could handle being unemployed for 6 months then a pre-apprenticeship would help too, 6 month full time course at most TAFE's which doesnt necessarily teach you a lot but can look good on your resume. i didnt do one tho and the employer didnt care... usually its more important if your younger good luck

gotta say 211rwkw is slightly high for a XR6T, but it would be way low for a 'phoon. but maybe its just a natural beast, you do get some running 13's stock

notice the falcon is pretty rich in the top end there... plenty of potential with the edit plus a few extra psi
