  1. Holy crap how horn is that???
  2. Cant have been a slurpee machine if you were able to mix alkeehole in it. Mighta been a slush machine or slush puppie, but not a genuine slurpee (I'm feeling such a slurpee nerd right now)
  3. Its only the exhaust housing itself (well, +manifold and dump pipe), not the center or any portion of the compressor side. I was just concerned with how quickly the oil turns to dark black. I had a turbo laser before this, running magnatec, and it would take most of the 5000k to goto black. The VL does it within 2000k. Currently running magnatec, which is too thin for the old RB30 anyway. By "cheap oil" I'm not talking No Frills or Home Brand, just not magnatec/Mobil1/redline oils.
  4. G'day I bought an RB30 powered car (*whimper* vl *whimper*) with a T60-1 turbo on it, which is pretty big. Its oil cooled only, so after even a relatively minor hoon the whole thing is glowing a beautiful cherry red. The problem with this is that its gonna be roasting the oil fairly quickly. My normal oil change procedure is oil and filter at 5,000k but since this turbo is roasting the oil so much worse than a RB25DET + stock turbo @ 1bar I'm thinking maybe I need to do it more reguarly on the RB30. Basically I was thinking of using a cheap oil with a decent filter. Change the oil ever 1,000-1,500k but leave the filter in for the full 5,000. Anyone know of any bad effects of doing this? I'm figuring that because the oil isnt roasting to a thicker viscosity and there are no other solids being introduced into the oil, it shouldnt require the new filter? Any thoughts? Or is the whole exhaust housing + manifold glowing red "normal" with a larger turbo? I'll take a photo of it glowing next weekend. And the glowing isnt from running lean, its actually running very rich.
  5. Dunno the technical side of it, but with Brutis2, when the alternator died and started giving low voltage he would run REAL fuely. Then as the voltage dropped lower, he would misfire. Finally, car died totally. Either way, the alternator is shagged. 12.2v at big rpm in neutral with no lights etc on isnt right. And 11.7v with the lights on also isnt right
  6. Yeah, but I've got to try and fit work in around all my driving! Thats just driving to GET to the job, not including the job itself! For a while there I was using a tank of fuel a day Thank christ some of the further out ones (ie: stanthorpe) havent broken down in a while, I'm sick of driving
  7. I do sunshine coast to tweed heads, plus a lot of stuff out west... Noosa, Tweed, Burleigh, Mooloolaba, Dalby, Warwick, Toowoomba, Stanthorpe, Surfers, Brisbane (north and south, dur), Caboolture, Morayfield, Redcliffe, Caloundra, Dinmore, urgh far too many places to list. Some weeks I hit the 1000k mark I've done 62,000k in my van and its just hit the 2 year mark. I'm not even a bloody delivery driver!
  8. :rave: :bananaman :rave: :whip:  :rave: :looney: :grouphug: :rave: Woo I used more emoticons than anyone Happy birthday cam
  9. Yeah, a 12.7 .... at 80mph GTIRs get great quarter mile times, but the trap speeds are usually fairy low. They may get up and boogey, but have no staying power. Our skyline got the same trap speed down the quarter as a GTIR which was 2 seconds faster over 400m :whip:
  10. Thats what our mechanic blames everything on Blocked exhaust. The latest exhaust mods have ensured that there is no possible way there can be a restriction in the exhaust. Unless it is a very, very large rat that is imune to fireballs.
  11. 3000rpm stall + fully manualised + shift kit = win auto Downside? Having only 3 gears Stupid trimatic. Second downside? Not in a skyline. Upside? RB powered (NB - isnt the fastest skyline in australia an R33 GTST with a trimatic + 4000rpm stall auto? ... hmmsers)
  12. Cost me like 25 bucks in fuel last night. Fag that. Brutis woulda costed like 5 bucks in fuel. Hmm and 20 bucks in repairs. Heh. Maybe its equal
  13. Be wary of that "R31" guy. He's organised (for want of a better word) a few cruises (for want of a better word) in the past which not only has he not turned up to, but neither has anyone else.
  14. Maybe he does, maybe he does *taps nose* I'LL NEVER TALK!
  15. RB26ETT for Willis Who needs to D(ouble overhead cams)? Hmm... RB26 head on RB30 block.... Oh well, I'm sorta glad there is something fairly big wrong in a way... It makes a good excuse for the lousy performance and huge amounts of fuel smoke "Oh yeah mate, normally I got 800hp but damn alternator was shagged so I only had 100hp"
  16. Bit late for that, I've already paid MELV some cash and taken all the stuff I wanted
  17. I know why my car is so fuely ... Well, even more fuely and gutless than normal Alternator is shagged. 12v maximum during running, and 11.buggerall volts once you turn lights on. If you just turn the lights on, the voltage drops from 12.buggerall to 10.something fairly quickly... Is that a battery problem? Or is the battery only partially charged cause the alternator isnt doing anything? Even with revs (2500-3000rpm) it wont charge the battery at all, just holds a constant 12.3'ish volts. Piece of crap. I'm with will Gimme the little buzzbox back
  18. I rang RACQ and they made roflcopters at me "some modifications" my arse, I has to answer yes to all their damn options.
  19. Some of the worst round abouts in the world are the one near the yatala pie shop and the one under the gateway for airport drive. Two lane round abouts should be standardized. Having these stupid round abouts where the left hand land can go all the way around is promoting confusion. Anyway. I hate those round abouts. And I hate people who cant use roundabouts. Urgh.
  20. For what its worth... http://www.fc-datalogit.co.nz/ Full of useful information which may negate the need for paying a tuner to head up? Autotech uses nothing but datalogit, and having snooped through the log results from it I can see why! Its so accurate and gives such a clear picture of what is happening at all tuning points. Anyway, just thought you may be interested in that link
  21. I vote burnout comp between jason and cyrus at the next meet. old-skool .vs. new-skool v8 .vs. turbo aussie (253ci) .vs. jap (rb25det) Come on dammit, its better than bathurst and its holden .vs. ford rivalry
  22. I've got some 2ft long zip ties we use to support python tube through roof spaces Around 2ft long and 3/4 of an inch thick. My zip ties pwn all of you.
  23. Howdy nismogirl, strutto, melv, etc I'm going to bed. You'se is gay. Word. *gone*
