Sorry to go off topic first response.. But serious question... Why put the RB20 into the 180? If it already has an SR20DET that is. The SR is a better engine than the RB (imho, watch me get beaten up). More torque straight off the bat, and responds real nice to mods. Not to mention less cylinders to buy stuff for And all those items you mentioned for the RB20 would give the SR20 that sort of power. Apologies if the 180 doesnt have an SR20DET in it atm, in which case I can understand the decision. As for the conversion, I know 'Eisbear' on boostcruising has an RB20 powered S13, he may be able to help you out with the details of what parts have been used to make it fit.

Daves Ceffie goes good considering how little is done. Dunno how, considering the damn car is heavier and the engine is smaller than mine! Curse you dave, I'll get you one day Max respect to the little red taxi that could.

Amen to that More likely some Skyline driver was next to him going VROOM *ptscht* and the Commo driver looked over and missed the 100kph to 0kph lockups that happen so frequently and took the option of bailing out to the side instead of arsing some other poor pricks car.

People have such little respect for others property The amusing part is watching the same halfwit who just opened their door against someones car notice a shopping trolley dent in their boot and go off about how selfish people are these days.... True story.

I was going to suggest Mercury as they seem an open minded bunch of fellas. Might even lend you their bed to root some skank. Or maybe even their g/f for a few hours.... Good blokes either way Who was it who let you rent the dyno only? Others might be interested in doing the same...

the correct way to drive around wakefield park

:bs!: For the right money, I will demonstrate the art of destroying an RB30. (NB - "The right money" shall be equal to the amount required to recondition an RB30 with forged pistons and metal gasket and porting and polishing as well as a cam grind with machined lifter blocks. Dig it.) -
Open Center Diff Query

That quote was more to point out why the thought I'd voiced out loud was wrong, in terms of the outside wheel taking the drive and the inside wheel simply slowing down. That wasnt what my thinking was, just thinking some other theories out loud Definately agree with it being weight transfer that makes it spin, as in an open center diff "the amount of torque is limited to the greatest amount that will not cause a wheel to slip". The weight taken off that side reduces traction and causes the wheel to spin. Once it starts spinning, any additional power will simply spin it faster as opposed to putting power down to the other wheel (as in an LSD). -

I saw the thread where this video was originally posted, cant remember where though. The link was cross posted to a few forums at the time. Its a V8 BMW (M5?) of some kind, the blue car is a turbo audi of some sort (RS6?) I actually believe this is in Russia? I remember thinking they were way too nice a car to exist in the country they said it was from The guy in the V8 BMW had a commentary, saying how fast they went etc. Crazy drivers *shakes head* I'm gonna go find that link now. -

Open Center Diff Query
krawler replied to krawler's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just to clarify, the original post wasnt mine and I totally disagree with the theory the diff "absorbs" half the power Also, you say the tailshaft is an average of the two outputs... Putting some figures down, say the tailshaft is rotating at 1000rpm. This means the wheels could be turning at 500rpm + 1500rpm (divide by 2 = 1000rpm)... Or to the further extreme, 0rpm + 2000rpm (divide by 2 = 1000rpm). Which is what my thinking is, no matter how badly I worded it along the way. I still cant find a definitive answer from a "reliable" (as such) resource I can quote from to help prove my thinking Unless of course, you work for a diff lapper or engineer or similiar? -

I disagree, based on this flash animation: http://static.howstuffworks.com/flash/differential.swf While turning, the inside wheel slows down but the outside wheel also speeds up. Assuming the tailshaft spins at a constant speed (which we know it does), this means the inside wheel is now turning slower than the tailshaft, and the outside wheel is turning faster than the tailshaft, right? Keep tightening the turning circle.. The inside wheel will get slower and slower, while the outside wheel will get faster and faster. Take this to the extreme, and you have the "inside" wheel stopped and the outside wheel spinning at a rate faster than the tailshaft. My only thought is that if you turn a corner, does the outside wheel speed up to a point faster than the tailshaft, or does it remain at the speed of the tailshaft while the inside wheel slows down to a point below? This would mean the outside wheel is taking the drive - obvious because you cant drive the inside wheel slower than the tailshaft is turning. But when you put the foot down on a corner in an open center car, its the inside wheel that starts spinning.. Does this mean when you accelerate the drive changes from outside wheel to inside? Does the outside wheel therefore slow down? -
I believe Josh had a problem with Gavin Wood as well. Trouble is, there is always two sides to every story. Some people just have to realise that the company they are whinging about online may well have eyes watching Some may choose to reply (84RBI), or not (various other staff members of workshops I *know* are reading this). I'm sure this will be deleted (well trimmed) when the various moderators return from chilli

I assume the Wolf3D you used was not the version 4, specifically because the version 4 plugins havent existed for 4 years PFC and Wolf3Dv4 Plugin are basically identical for fitting - literally plug and play, and driveable on the base maps. But the PFC controls idle up when headlights and/or AC is turned on, and Wolf doesnt. There are several other fairly minor points that Wolf doesnt do that PFC does, but its those minor things that make the difference between a perfectly streetable car and a bitch. The Wolf plugin also supports MAP sensor though, as well as a few outputs for various things, the person to talk to about these would be 'summoner'... His RB26 Cefiro runs Wolf v4 and he loves them. But then again he's strange in so many other ways too. Having now owned a car with a replacement ECU (Haltech E6K in the VL), I'll never be doing that again Those "minor things" I was talking about in the last paragraph really make such a huge difference overall.
