  2. ok so does the ecu act as an earth or a positive signal? and apart from checking for a short between the ignitor and the ecu (grounding the circuit) where else should i be checking and for what? i really appreciate your help, thanks!!!

  4. headgasket suits the block, everywhere i have read suggests that u need to still feed oil to the vct to keep the front cam journal lubed, i however did not supply any oil to the vct. i got some advice from a good drag mate of mine who has done 6 or 7 rb30det builds in many road and drag cars and none of them have had oil supplied there and he has not seen a drama yet. as for the different shaped hole in the head, u do need to weld up the difference, or drill and tap the small hole in the head and insert a grub screw otherwise oil will mix with your coolant (not good)
  5. hey guys, as topic suggests i have done a rb30 build into a r32, rb25det head, stock rb25det injectors, z32 afm, r32 stock ecu with r32 sensors etc. first off i have a nistune to install and will get the ecu tuned asap however i read somewhere in the rb30det write ups that it is ok to use the stock ecu for run in period. anyway so my problem is.... engine is in car, all hooked up, first turn of the key it starts, ran beautiful..... i wanted to run it to get oil and cool levels right, so it was only sitting there, idling with a few small lifts of the throttle. after about 10 minutes of running its started to miss. i diagnosed it as number 6 not running, i swapped coilpacks with number 1, still missing on 6, i swapped sparkplugs with number 1 and still misses on 6. i ran it for a few minutes more while doing a upper cylinder head clean just incase something go stuck under a valve..... anyway after doing all this i fulled the number 6 coilpack out and noticed it was red hot (burnt my finger), plastic spilling out the sides as if the coil had overheaded or shorted or whatever. so what i want to know is what can cause this, if it is only a failed coilpack then im prepared to buy a new set, but i dont want to buy a new set and have the same thing happen to them. the coilpacks had no visible cracks when put in, they were runnning in the rb20 fine, so all in all i just want to know what could cause this problem and is there anything i may have overlooked when doing the conversion. any suggestions would be good. sorry if i havnt explained myself properly.

  7. mate if worse comes to worse u can always drill another hole like in the rb30 build and get a different timing belt..... just a thought if you do accidently root it

  11. not sure with your car, it may be in japanese. if your not sure, another easy way is to disconnect the battery and put a padlock thru the terminal so knowone can put it back on

  13. try a few types and see for urself..... and keep in mind for next time..... the oil that turns BLACK the fastest, is the best oil..... reason being is the two purposes of oil are to lubricate and CLEAN, so the oil that is the blackest if obviously picking up all the carbon n crap and sending it to the filter

  15. lol u dont need to worry about oil or fuel.... if you have OCD, then yeah run it low before u leave it the fill it up wen u get back. just remove the fuses for the fuel pump and ignition (under dash, near drivers knee) and chuck a car cover on there. just be aware u may need a jump start wen u get back to it depend on how good your battery is. also dont leave stuff visible, and it put a steering wheel lock on there.... the type of security your describing is pretty poor in the eyes of a car thief

  17. hey guys ive wired up a z32 AFM into my r32 with standard ecu and wiring harness. i just need to know what coloured wires on a standard z32 AFM correspond to what colours on a r32 AFM there are 4 wires, 3 wires have comon colours, but the 4th wire is different (r32 is white, and the z32afm wire is orange from memory) can any verfiy how to wire this up?
