how much u lookin to spend, i got a r32 one in sydney

in the interested of saving your money, id be chasing just the head.... why pay for everything else when u dont need it? if its going into a r31, just by a complete head (with sensors), matching ecu and wiring loom search in for sale sections for a head

ull need piston ring compressor valve spring compressor breaker bar (1meter long) torque wrench air compressor (or compressed air in a can may do the job) lots of clean white rags nice flat, clean, big work bench engine stand with a minimum weight around 500kg (iv got a 550kg one and i built my rb30det on it with all manifolds and turbo etc) also when it comes time to mounting ur engine, make sure u have good quality bolts that bolt the engine to the stand, afterall its alot of weight hanging on 4 bolts soft faced hammer oil can (for squirting oil in hard to reach places) micrometer straight edge feeler guages oil clearance strips (mind blank, disposible small strip u measure oil clearances with) im sure theres more, but its a good start for ur list

nissan will have a new one, but ur better off getting one from someone on here in the forsale section if its backfiring or poping thru the air filter then ur timing is out.... either the timing belt is out a tooth (or so) or the CAS is out (or faulty) check that the 3 timing marks line up

ur ecu needs to be switched on to start with (so it should be getting 12v from the ign switch) then it looks for a ign signal from the Cam angle sensor.... if there is no signal from that (which is another thing to check) then the ecu will not fire the coilpacks..... as u said, check if its getting spark, if it isnt, check the CAS circuit and the power for the ecu from ignition... also wot ecu u using?

altho by the sounds of it uv got some sort of electrical problem, the most common thing iv seen done by people doing conversions at home is put the fuel lines on the fuel rail the wrong way.... make sure the one with the fuel filter DOES NOT connect to the fuel rail end with the pressure reg.... as for ur problem, i would be tracking down the a wiring diagram and check all your powers to a the ecu, especiialy ignition wiring, make sure he doesnt have an alarm or kill switch he forgot to tell u about.

oh yeah, forgot to mention that, and iv got a good rb20det head sitting here if ur interested.

best thing will be do do wot both people said above (change oil, crank with cas disconnected until the oil light goes off) all that is most important... as for the recommended running the car low on fuel, i would actually advise the opposite, and go and fill up the car with the best fuel u can get (to dilute any water or contaminents) that may be present, if there is any..... remember ur fuel pump picks up fuel from the very bottom of the tank regardless of fuel level so its better to dilute any crap thats in there. all in all, 4 months is nothing

look into a intercooler that has inlet and outlet both on the same side so u can use 90% of ur stock piping

u need the open the bleed bolt on the intake manifold.... how long do u run it for when ur testing? becoz itl take a good 10mins to heat up to operating temp if its sitting there, maybe 5 mins under road conditions.
