Hey guys.
I'm currently in the process of building my track s14 for time attack/sprint days and I need to decide on a clutch budget under $700 delivered.
I was trying to decied between two clutches. I think the Sports Ceramic Clutch Kit suits my applications better however don't know anyone who has one. How well do they hold under power?
My car will have under 300kw when finished.
The other option is the Exedy Heavy Duty Button Clutch Kit NSK-6531HDB. I hear it can hold up under a lot of abuse.

I am looking for an auto electrician with experience in fixing R31 skylines. Preferably located within the east.

I have a worn gearbox in a s14 silvia. I know it needs replacing but for now I don't have the funds to put towards a rebuild.
The gears are so worn they sound like they are straight cut. It's loud enough to easily hear from a distance if I was to drive past. Synco are fine though.
Currently I am using 75w90w oil I think. Any chance a heavier oil could reduce the volume of the noise?

i would like to see motorsport formulas reduce class restrctions to encourge more engine inovations.

R31's have a fusible link and relay box behind the RH headlight. You may have fried a fusible link, maybe. But i doubt it.
The other fuse box is inside, RH side of the steering column. This is more than just a fuse box though. This is called the HEC or Hybrid Electronic Control unit. Its also considered to be the SMJ or Super Multiple Junction. Only R31's had them and they are not the most awesome of things. But they dont usually fail either.
This unit has a few purposes; its a place for all the fuses and power relays (can't see the relays without removing the unit), it is the major intersection for everything electrical in the car, and it also houses the electronic control module that controls; dash lights, tail lights, wiper control, interior light, trip computer etc. I dare say you have fried this unit.
If you've still got brake lights and head lights but not much else then its a good indication that its cooked.
You can replace just the electronic module or the entire HEC. Should only take half an hour to replace the entire HEC. Grab one from pick a part.
ill check it out however, nothing works including brake/head lights.

but the car runs fine.
there's a small box of relays under the bonnet but i would expect fuses to be protecting them.

to get the r31 started, i took the battery out of my s14. without thinking, i just connected up the leads.
thus putting them on the wrong way. switched them around, all good. the car started.
however, non of the electrical features now work. lights, interior stuff, dash. ect.
i have already checked the in cabin fuses but they are fine.
i know very little about r31s, i can't seem to fine any other fuse boxes.
what do you guys think i broke?

i have never really purchased cheap tyres before. looking for tyres around $150/each for 225 45 17 or 235 45 17.
they don't need to last long but would prefer them to handle reasonably in the wet.
any suggestions?

They finally have a wheel for release that will be allowed on the road, even though they only have one model of wheel at the moment. I was lucky enough to work at the engineering shop to machine up the inner and outer moulds for the wheel rim and machine up the little 7075 aluminium wheel nut inserts.
Hopefully they start making some that fit Skylines very soon.
wouldn't the cost outweigh any benefits?

ok well thought id share this story of mine iknow its long but i cut unwanted details. was fkn soo pissed off when this all happend but it all turned out in my favour in the end
after months of red tape with complaince bs and heads i had to put up with, FINALLY was dropin my gtr at mech for rwc legit.. i needed fuel so went to closest mobile, was 830 am and was so bizy with traffic on the main road.. so i took a small short cut through watergardens shoping centre (skip all traffic as mobil is pritty much in watergardens) just my luck as i was almost at the servo i police car was goin opposite direction saw me and made the best effort he could to speed to the next round about and no joke chase me and pull me over.... i had no plates at this time so i knew i was gona get pulled over... i just chilled and waited. iv been pulled over so much since i got this car but never had dramas as i alwasy had a cover note..
this cop got out the car and does the usual song and dance... but was so cocky! proceeded to check my details and every thing was legit but he hated me or something and got so technical with the terms of the cover note and argued that i WASNT goin DIRECTLY to the mechanics..
i was like soz but yea i need fuel.
he mention u passed 2 caltex servos to get to this mobile why are u comin all this way to mobile??
i said i only used mobile.
he said "dont talk to me like im am idiot!! been doin this job for 25 yearsssssss!! ect ect usual lecture..
he slapped me with a un reg fine of $611!!! OH MY i was raging !!
befor he left i mentioned to him im almost a qualifed mechanical engineer and how i know whats best for my car blah blah (i really am btw) and ill be writing a letter!!
he laughed and said good luck and he just took off..probs mirin my gtr lol but i was pissed man so unfair
this cop forgot to do a breath test on me..fail
so i got my fuel and made my way but 5 mins later was pulled over AGAIN!! nice effort to pull me over also, but diff cop this time...i had no dramas i also had a chat with him and told me i shouldnt of got the fine if had cover note ect and that a breat test is STANDARD PROCEDURE when getting pulled over!! all cops when they pull u over must do a breath test...
so pulled over 2 times in one morning but only 1 fine... load of bullshit.
more bullshit was i recieved the fine the next morning!!! i bet it was pernonally delivered by the tit who pulled me over, it wasnt even a legit infringement. it wasnt an exact duplicate.. some of the the details were added after the time of infringment. so he filled in the blanks so to speak afterwards in pen and not in the grey graphite lookin stuf....so half of my fine was normal grey writing and rest was in pen... so i raged more
SO un-professional!! so i wrote a letter... f**k paying $611
i wrote the best letter i have ever written and even got some off the literature/english people at my uni to go over it!! man no joke was a masterpiece. took copies of alll my evidence lol petrol reciepts and covernote and my TAMPERD with fine too!! and kissed it for good luck and sent it of!
this all was well over a month ago and yesterday i received a response !! they withdrew the imfringement YESSSS!! was FKN WRAPT!! almost went into the kielor police station just to show the officer the letter HAHAH and tell him to suck ma bawls...lol
so yea i got an official warning coz of my good driving record.... pfft they made a mistake and dont want to admit it.
in conlusion i fkn won!! i beat he system!! didnt even have to go to court hahah
anyway thought id share
the end. and if any one else has stories like mine share..Lodge an offical complaint against the officer with the Office of Police Integrity. Get a lawyer to write the complaint and ensure you get an offical response.
If police can't follow the laws, they should loose their jobs.

Picked up my kit today off Burgz, just drilled holes in passenger side screen for the mount studs stops and guide, great to work with. Great fit. Rear screen same deal nice fit. We got 5mm side and 4mm qtr and rear. The rear weighs 4460grams, sides about 2180 and qtr screens 730 grams. Oem side screen was about 4700 on the 33. So they lived up to their ' half the weight or less' can't complain for the money so far
overall, how much weight saved?
