Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
Peter89 replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
d/h? just that nearly all the experience i have had with police have ended in defects for some people. they usually go over the cars with a fine tooth comb to find something to fine ya for. what suspension work has been done? when it comes to australia, plan to hit the tracks? -

do you plan to drive that car in australia? as awesome as it would be, that car will never pass compliance the way it is. -

UPDATED: 21/02/10 So i decide to post up my car here as well, the main build thread will still be on NS however I will update this thread from time to time since sometime in the future ill be attending SAU track days. Basics: 1995 Manual A fair few kms. Burgundy paint, some parts faded. Engine: Random ass stainless steel manifold. 3" turbo back, including cat and a huge genie turbo muffler. pod filter(needs a box) new water pump (installed by ADM) new midnightmods braided turbo water line. (installed by ADM) Wheels/Tyres: R33 stockies up front, with 205/55/16 ford stockies(black) with goodyear eagle f1s, 215/45/17. Brakes/Suspension: QFM HPX pads front/rears. castrol super dot 4 (couldn't afford motul ) Bodywork: Luxury front lip ADM spoiler Sunroof Debadged. Interior: old clarion headunit two 6x9" clarion speakers in the rear(hectic bass bro) two unknown speakers in the front. Things I've done: changed the oil and filter.(jan) changed the diff oil, require the exhaust to be dropped..(jan) painted front lip gloss black..(jan) satin black wipers(jan) removed the door beep with keys still in the car. .(jan) installed new pads, changed brake fluid(feb) changed clutch fluid(feb) changed gearbox oil(feb) painted chrome exhaust tips black(feb) rewired indicators(feb) removed fog lights(feb) Things I'm doing: nothing Plans: Heat wrap, (will get stock manifold instead with new OEM gaskets later on). Ducting. Wheel alignment. Muffler. Spray roof. investigate noise. suspension. light weight rims. strip interior. Parts for time-attack( a long way off) I bought the car with the intent to take it to the track yet track days aint cheap, might be a while before i go down but im sure it ll be worth the wait. However it is a daily, it will still need to be somewhat practical. Pics: below:

don't trust any RWC you get, get the car inspected. a lot of places will turn a blind eye for a little extra cash. plus, the car doesn't need an inspection if transferring rego, so the rwc is mostly for your benefit. depending on how modified the car is you want to buy.

last time ACA ran an anti-drift story, they were using JAP street drift videos claiming it was in Australia. they will go to any lengths to get more ratings.
-
ACA had the plates but choose to get ratings instead of take it to the police. which, if they did, would have found out the car had already been sold years ago and was only registered a few months after the video. they make an attack video practically promoting vigilante justice, whatever that would result in to anyone driving a white s14 with a body kit. ACA couldn't give a f**k about peoples safety or fixing the problems, it would rather ratings. the word hoon is like the new terrorist, it is DELIBERATELY not defined so they can get whoever they feel like. politics isn't about solving problems, it's looking like you have. governments will never resolve such issues when all they think about is band aid solutions. then again, why else do they call him, band aid brumby. edit: i'm actually surprised some of you guys took ACAs word on something about cars. considering ACA is a fair and balanced news reporting program. lols

would love to enter but out of cash.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Peter89 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you might have to wait for a cooler day for a more even comparison. then again, better rotors, alignment and bushes. if you want some, i might be able to get you a set of Toyo Proxes R1Rs (for the price of kus) or for that matter, any tyres cheaper -
last night i saw a roo, fox, wombat, deer and possum while driving with a mate up in the mountains. however, he was lucky enjoy to avoided all of them. especially the deer, it was quiet large.

i have followed a few people after they cut me off, made sure they got the message. a loud horn is so handy. have yet to call the police considering i would hate it if someone called them on me. however, if it was clear a driver was drunk or highly confused (wrong side of road etc) i would.
-
alcohol, surprise surprise. everything jumped on the speed factor, clearly without the alcohol the situation would have been entirely different. Yet it's clear that the message hasn't gotten through to enough people. the passengers must have known he had been drinking and should have refused to let him drive and at the minimum not get in the car. i know i wouldn't.
-
cuz it's a waste of money. a vast majority of speeding is less then 100kph and for the people that want to go over, they will just get the limiter removed. how many people with jap imports still have the stock limiter? quiet a few but an ECU upgrade/reflash is a basic upgrade.

reading the article in the age, it seems as the driver was at a party. some gatecrashers arrived, he jumped in his car along with the others. the gatecrashers attempted to remove him from the car but didn't, he sped off and the gatecrashers jumped in a car to pursue him. that was according to his GF that was at the party. i am going to wait until more evidence to jump to conclusions that the driver was just attempting to go as fast as possible. checked the site again, the driver might have been drinking as well. ^increasing the driving age is stupid, how do you expect people to go into the workforce and become independent? and don't give me that public transport bs, a lot of the time it isn't good enough. current ages are fine were they are. just need drinking driving to be an impound offense.

want to sell the rims separately?

below $10k, you ll be looking at a rough s14 series 2, in my experience in searching the past few months or a clean s14 series 1. i'm getting a '95 s14 manual, stock for the most part with 185,000kms for $8500. yeh, seems worn but the engine compression was far stronger then a series 2 i tested for $9.5k with 135,000kms. i wouldn't worry so much about kms, instead focus on engine compression and vehicle inspections.

Playing Around With My S14 With Rb26dett
Peter89 replied to drifter1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
good vid. have you created a build thread? -
top gear australia is rushed, boring and the guys are dicks. add to that a shitty small track and shorter episodes it has nothing on the real top gear.
-
rb20 or 25? personally the 25 is the better option or you could go 1jz. read over these build threads: http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...401228&st=0 http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...374506&st=0 http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...p;#entry5436683 then again you could get an r32 with a rb25. if i could legally drive a r32 with 25 conversion that's what i would have tried to get however, i cant so went with the s14.
