  1. Sucks to hear about this mate. YOu have such a bloody nice R34, one of the best I have seen around by far. I'd say give his Snr Sgt a call at the Metro traffic division and have a little chat, explain what happened, what was said etc. Let him know that everything IS compliant and that you have made sure of this all through your build. I happened to do such a thing and the sticker was removed without cost and an apology offered and a reprimand offered for the copper who stickered me in the first place. Stand your ground and you should be fine mate Might also be worth getting some permits for things aswel and make sure they are laminated so they cannot be questioned. -Chris
  2. Are you doing this because you want a GTR or are you doing this because you want a wolf in sheeps clothing ?
  3. As much as Distrbd and myself don't see eye to eye on pretty much anything, I agree wholeheartedly with this. I've had mine for 12 years and havn't lost it once. It all comes down to how you drive as to whether or not you are going to get caught. Sure the coppers will give you troubles in the meantime when you aren't speeding, comes with the territory of owning an import, but you're responsible for your OWN points, not someone sitting in an office making it harder for the people who do speed willingly and the like. Man up, shut up, and don't speed if you want to keep your license, pretty simple really.
  4. Nice one mate Love that thing, really do, you've put so much work into it, has to be the cleanest R34 I have seen in a LONG time. Now get your mate to buy my GTR..........
  5. You're trying to make your car look like a GTR? BUY A BLOODY GTR! Probably cost less than messing around with conversions, bloody hell.
  6. Correction, authbahn are $165. Also, if your aircon is an older system using the older gas (R12), they won't charge it for you. You will either have to get a replacement system or there's the possibility of a conversion to the R134A system. For mine, I was quoted $320 for conversion, whereby they change the valves and a few other bits and pieces, flush the system, oil it and gas it, then check for leaks. Though with an R33 you SHOULD be on the new gas Good luck dude
  7. This or JustAce cruise........ hmmmmmm
  8. Got her back from Xspeed today (just got back from Melbourne today) and all good
  9. .....................hehe Took her in to Xspeed this morning and had a chat to Hanson, no worries. Should be resolving the issue tomorrow so hopefully get it back tomorrow night/wednesday. All good
  10. Nah the guys at Xspeed are a good bunch. Hansons a great guy to talk to, knows his stuff. Fairly sure it would be the gasket/seal between the water pump and the block itself. I'd rather just have the fellas do it however so as not to void any warranty or anything by doing it myself hehe. I was going to throw some fiberglass sealant stuff through the system today and hope it sealed the leak but decided against it as not sure how it'd affect warranty or anything.
  11. Cheers Nic. I live in Palmyra, literally 5 mins up the road from Xspeed, so I don't think that overheating on the way there is going to be an issue hehe. Last night, I managed to drive from the meet point we were at, car park off selby st Osborne Park, back to my cousines place in Belmont. Then from there to my house in Palmyra, all without the water temp going over 85c. However this morning the water had drained to about half capacity in the radiator itself. I'll be able to get it there ok.
  12. Nice, thank's James Yeah decided I am going to take it in tomorrow morning. Borrowing my brother in law's S13 for the week just in case hehe (he works in the city so doesn't drive it during the week).
  13. Hey guys, Was out for a drive last night on a cruise, taking it easy. At one of the meet points, Ken34 and my cousine noticed that I had fluids leaking from the front of my car. At further inspection this proved itself to be coolant. I drove it home cautiously, monitoring the water temp on the power FC controller, and didn't go above 85c at all. This morning I come out to have a look and see whats what, notice that the radiator is about half empty and so I start looking around. I filled the radiator up with water (just to test, going to flush again later) and turned the motor over. Didn't take more than about 10 seconds and already the leak was apparent. Looks like it's coming from the water pump on the block. Now I'm not sure if it's one of the bolts (can't see) or if it's coming from the seal and leaking through the hole (which means it's stuffed, obviously). Not sure what to do here as I had her at Xspeed a few weeks ago and they did a full timing belt service on it for me, replacing the water pump at the same time. Is there any way I can stop the leaking for the time being or will I have to take it back to them sometime to get this resolved? Also, what are my rights in this situation being that the water pump is brand new? -Chris
  14. Just make sure you always connect the negative to an earth point on the car instead of the negative terminal on the battery.
  15. Nope, they have internal memory and don't lose their tune, no need to worry
  16. Depending how big the crack is you could just get it filled by someone like Windscreen O'Briens. Cost is about $150-$200 (had it done a few months ago myself) however you have to take it in within about 14~ hours of the crack appearing? They were offering me a brand spanker windscreen for my 32 GTR for $500 though, so not too bad at all.
  17. Rest assured your assumption is incorrect. Have you ever tried to turn your steering wheel without the key in the ignition? Doesn't turn very far does it... good ole steering lock I've often wondered about the underlying issue though as from what I remember there are certain turbo diesel 4x4's etc which actually have turbo timers from factory. My turbo timer is an integral part of my immobilizer, and one of my buttons on my remote turns the motor off by remote. A lot of grey area here indeed.
  18. Ah, also, how close is it to 100,000 now? Some very sound advice is to invest in a timing belt service. Take her to Xspeed if need be, they'll do one for $900, belts water pump etc whereas C-red will try and sting you for $1500 for the same job.
  19. Congrats mate, very tidy specimin of a GTR. I know EXACTLY what you mean by getting a giddy feeling every morning when you wake up and get to drive to work, then drive home from work etc. Hell, it's not the best on fuel economy and just cost me $3200 in some repairs (don't mean to scare you off or anything hehe) but I prefer driving my GTR and my missus around rather than her drive me around in the Echo hehe. Hell, I am usually the first out the door and down to the shops during work if we run out of milk/coffee/something I just love it to bits! (Travis you'd better be reading this too hahah) All this, and I've owned mine since May this year. I've had some issues with it, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a 20yr old car, and nothing that has made me want to say "stuff this, I'm selling it...". It's a force to be reckoned with, they are bloody fast, very enjoyable and absolutely awesome value for money. As for mods, I'd recommend what people have said thus far, that is go with supporting mods first. First major one being the exhaust, because the RB26 motors LOVE to breathe, and getting a larger exhaust will remove some restriction, hi-flow cat is a good idea aswel. Then start looking at things like ECU (you really want to get a full ECU solution like a PowerFC or the like, having multiple modules for different things is a tuning/troubleshooting nightmare), after that start looking into things like FMIC, injectors, adjustable cam gears and the like, but take your time and do it right. -Chris
  20. I'd beg to differ. I had coppers sticker me in my own driveway (granted they had switched on their disco lights as I rounded the corner onto my street and proceded to continue to my driveway 50m up the road). I wrote up a post about it a few months ago, should still be in this section too collecting dust/views. I just made the error of unlocking my car door when I was asked to in my own driveway so as the copper could sticker my car. Long story short though I didn't take the matter lying down, and contacted the Snr Sgt at the South Freo Metro division and had it quashed after a visit to the pits to prove it was road worthy, and didn't cost me a cent, did get an apology from the Snr Sgt himself for his staff wasting my time though. Guess it all comes down to knowing what you can and cannot do, because you don't want to NOT let a copper into/search your car and actually get arrested for it as opposed to copping the sticker/fine/whatever and dealing with it afterwards.
  21. Correct! **prods hanaldo...**
  22. Can't you just stall up desired revs and dump a clutch instead?
  23. hahah, gaz, now thats funny. You could pull almost as much power as some of theirs yes, but power to weight ratio says you will still get toasted. I pulled 193rwhp with my stock VZ SV6 last year for laughs at a toyota performance day, about 30 or so hp less than yours, but you can go ahead and keep kidding yourself if you want. I'll enjoy watching. As for the power aswel, I was pulling on average about 20hp more than a lot of the cars on that toyota dyno day aswel (there were turbo 180's and so forth there also) but I wasn't so delusional that I actually believed for a second I'd stand a chance against them in a drag. See you sound pissed because you spent ALL THAT MONEY on something that is in essence, a "drive to the shop and look good" car. But that's just my opinion. Not meant as an attack, but just to draw attention to what it is you are on about. 997 Carrera S technical data Performance Max speed 181.66 miles/h (293 km/h) 0-100 km/h 4.6 seconds 0-160 km/h 9.6 seconds 0-200 km/h 16.0 seconds 0-300 km/h - Quarter mile 12.3 seconds 350Z technical data Performance Max speed 155 miles/h (250 km/h) 0-100 km/h 6.0 seconds 0-160 km/h 13.8 seconds 0-200 km/h 22.8 seconds 0-300 km/h - Quarter mile 13.8 seconds 0-100-0 mph 18.80 seconds
  24. Mark's R33 (the wine red one that took the place of my GTR on the dyno today) has a previous readout from a few months ago showing 392rwhp. It's amazing how a change in temperature can make such a difference on the dyno. The intake temp on the previous sheet shows 8C lower temp than todays one (28C vs 36C) however the graphs are almost identical. Not an exact science is it hehe
