  1. Gasket looks ok, from the top anyways, can't get under to check the bottom But looks good frmo what I can see...
  2. Thanks for all the input fellas, appreciate it. Am about to go out and check the plugs, coil packs, harness is OK checked that before when I removed the valley cover, will have to check CA sensor aswel. Was idling fine before this.
  3. I posted this in someone elses thread but doesn't look like it's been used for a while, that and I couldn't find anything else to help me with... so... Having issues at the moment in my 32 GTR. Every now and then when it's cold it'll idle rough and accelerate rough aswel. It'll hunt at idle aswel and have to poke rev's at it to stop it from stalling. I am taking out the spark plugs to have a look once the car cools down a little. I also had it running and pulled each coilpack off sparkplug as it was idling just to make sure I havn't for some stupid reason dropped a cylinder, and the result was the same for all. Other than what I am going to do in a little, anyone else have any other suggestions? -Chris
  4. Hey, having similar issue at the moment in my 32 GTR. Every now and then when it's cold it'll idle rough and accelerate rough aswel until it gets a bit warmer (bout 40-50C water temp) but then it'll still hunt at idle and have to poke rev's at it to stop it from stalling. I have Z32 AFM's aswel.
  5. As far as I am aware it has not been passed yet. Eye level brake light if you have an aftermarket wing? Bloody hell that's really stupid, since when did people ever look to your parcel shelf/wing for a brake light? They're on the ass end of your car on the sides already ffs! I can understand the "must be lower than the roof level" rule though, anything that high is just bloody stupid
  6. BAM! you win.
  7. haha nice one Dan. Odo doesn't work Fuel guage doesn't go up much past half on a full tank Some pingpingpingping keyed my car That's all
  8. Sounds like you have a few more issues than the car Screemer However good to hear you had a win over the DPI heh.
  9. First up, yes as people have said HID's are illegal unless they were factory fitted and released by the manufacturer with the car (hence complying with the ADR) Pod filters are NOT illegal unless they are not bolted/bracketed down, then you have issues Reinforcement bar, yes, if it is cut, you're in trouble. It's considered one of the main structural parts of the car, if it's altered, have fun Exhaust, don't have to worry about IM240 testing at all in WA yet, hasn't been considered and hasn't been implimented at all however if it's too noisey I think they can get you on excess noise for it, bit grey on that area but apart from that, the copper sounds like a twat. Unless a police officer is holding you for a legal reason (in this case he was, sort of) or charging you with something, you don't have to hang around at all, you can leave whenever you want. Know the in's and out's of the legal system you can get away with blue murder As the guys have said, take it over the pits, be nice, the guys will likely have a laugh at the list and pass you (except for the xenons, not sure about the eyelids)
  10. Like a mate of mine. Owns a GTI-R pulsar with a spare motor sitting on an engine hoist in his garage, he cbf working on it anymore so when he'd finished paying it all off etc, he bought a 310rwkw S15..... damn. Think we'd all love to have something else sitting around just in case. As for me, it's the wifes Echo ... lolz.
  11. Ah, I was referring to 30 bottom ends failing. Don't usually hear too many of em doing so easily.
  12. If only it were the bottom ends people usually blew up But yeah, 400 easily on a 30.
  13. If you wanted a more broad and progressive turbo setup definitely go for a twin setup as you can spread the torque a bit better. GTRS's are good for this. A 30 bottom end is almost bullet proof as it is, I remember a VL with the stock 30 bottom end and a 25 head few years ago over east was running about 600hp unopened bottom end but worked top end and a dirty big turbo on it, they are tough as nuts. You're 25 bottom end would be fine for a 400hp goal though so I wouldn't worry too much about it. (unless you actually want more power AND for it to be bloody reliable). I'm running just shy of 400awhp on my GTR mate and even I can't use all the power, the midrange is bloody awesome though, and that's where it's mostly needed anyways (as I tend to want to power out of sweeping bends all the time heh.) Only thing i want is a respray coz of the prick who keyed me
  14. Agreed Brendan, I've been driving for 11 years and fair enough I have about 3 speeding fines in total, have only ever lost 2 points (1 of the fines) and I have NEVER been pulled over by the cops. It is all about attitude, you drive your car like a dick and the cops see you, they will have it in for you instantly and will go to any lengths to piss you off, because there's not a lot you can do about it. However keep your head down and behave, cops will barely ever look at you twice. As said before, just make sure the pods are bolted down and you'll be fine.
  15. If you cannot provide the details of the guy who reverses into you, then yes you have to pay the excess for the claim. As for my car, no mate, it's an R32 Not a 34. Tell-tale signs of cars being thrashed, always check the rear inside guards for rubber (no one ever cleanes it off), clutch feel if manual, diff feel when driving (acceleration mainly) check to see if the brake discs are warped heaps (will feel a shudder when slowing down), if the car has a PowerFC, does it ping much? and if so is it pinging while warm? Hope that helps a little, other fellas will be able to fill you in a bit more
  16. Ah, I should also mention that the reason my insurance is that high, is because I own a GTR. No one apart from JustCar and Shannons will touch em'. The price you pay for owning what you want
  17. Yeah, Autoworx is good, IF they ever get back to you. I went there looking at a blue R33 GTS which had just arrived and was awaiting compliance. Left the guy my business car and mobile number contact details etc, he said it was being complianced the following week and he'd get in contact with me as soon as he had it back so I could take it for a test drive. Never happened, never heard from him, couldn't reach him after that. The car would have needed a respray as it was as the paint in the inside of the guards was botch job at best and could see the original (white) colour inside the lip of the guards. The paint for the skirts was only ever-so-slightly missmatched with the body but only if you were looking for it. Car was a bargain and guy reckons it was putting out about 280rwhp. But, never heard from him. I'm not the only person who this has happened to from these guys either, but I shall not name names. Glad I went elsewhere because my R32 GTR is an absolute bloody dream. As for insurance, it's an import, it's going to cost an arm and a leg unfortunately. Me, I'm 28 and have been driving for 12 years, have only lost 2 points in all that time and have had only 1 accident where it was my fault(legally my fault, the chick I rear ended did not have any working brake lights, gg) and 2 where it was not. However full comprehensive is still $1500 a year for me and excess is a bit shy of that also, even with a fairly good record. As people have said, take your time. With the market the way it is at the moment there are literally boatloads of bargains out there at the moment. Have a friend who just picked up a showroom condition, inside and out, R32 GTS-T. Unopened and unmodded, had only just arrived in Australia and bought for $12k. Good luck with it all dude If you spot a bargain and it looks too good to be true, don't hesitate at all to get it looked over by RAC etc. If the seller is honerable they will let you do it aswel, beware the dodgy guy's who hesitate with everything or don't seem too cluey themselves. DO YOUR RESEARCH and know what you are talking about -Chris
  18. They just have to be bolted down dude, that's all. Just they are seen as a hazzard if they are lose and can float around in the engine bay.
  19. hahah. Well if there's no reverse facing holes, I say porn!! But yeah personally I'd be looking at doing something about the colour of the CF surround, but definately a +1 for awesome on the Deffi guages too They aren't cheap, but they are bloody good. Word has it that Deffi do a replacement instrument cluster for the standard in-dash R32 GTR clusters, want to have a look into that But also, not cheap, something around the $800 mark I hear? Still want to look into it
  20. haha that's pretty much a given, there something posted up on antilag almost EVERY weekend good value...
  21. Mechanic there is a friend of 2 of my mates. They both have their S15's worked on by him and they both swear by him, aparrently great guy and REALLY knows his shit.
  22. Hate to break it to ya bud but the bonet will definately be illegal. Not only for the obvious fact that it's carbon fiber, but also because of the rear facing vents. The pod guage looks ok though, though I would paint it to match the dash as it doesn't really blend in or look like it belongs, but that's just my opinion
  23. Mainly it's to do with who is driving the car as the primary driver. Like if someone was living away from home yet the car was under their folks name and the kid has a crash, they are likely to have their claim rejected because the car is not in a position to be classified as under the ownership of the folks (car has to be in their name too for it to work properly). But yeah, just because I don't have a rollerdoor/lockup garage they didn't want to know about it.
  24. Was a bitch getting insurance for my GTR. After my VZ SV6 was written off by a transperth bus they asked me if I wanted to insure my next car with them. Said yep sure (WQBE this is) and told them it was a skyline. They said yep no worries, we insure those, what type is it? Me: "It's a GTR" Them: "a what?" Me: "a GTR Skyline" Them: "Is that a 2.5l GTS?" Me: "No, it's a 2.6l twin turbo" Them: "Oh... we don't insure those..." Awesome! Thank's for asking then! Went to Shannons and they were more than happy to take me on board, so went through the whole spiel about car clubs, whats your interest in cars, owned any performance cars before yadda yadda, all good. Where will you be keeping this? Ummm at my house perhaps? Oh, ok, do you have a garage? Yes, an undercover carport. No rollerdoor? Nope. Goodbye! Wtf? The only people who will insure a GTR without a lockup garage is JustCar. Bloody hell, was ridiculous. Just car costs me $1400 a year w/ $1500 excess. Pretty steep even considering I am 28 heh. but worth it (Full comprehensive too). JustCar are also the ONLY insurer I know of that do not care what mods you have had done to your car and I tested this theory a few times by adding every mod I could think of and then re-submitting my request and always came back the same. PS: One other thing for the younger guys to remember aswel, is that the more speeding fines you accumulate over the years and so forth, the more the insurers are going to look unfavourably upon you. If you are still living at home, always a good option is to get the car insured under your folks name, with you listed as the primary driver. You don't want to do this if you are living out of home though.
  25. Not too impressed with AutoWorx at all really. I spoke to the owner up there in regards to this about 2 months ago: http://www.autoworx.com.au/site/index.php?...9&Itemid=64 And told him I was definately keen. He was getting it complianced so I couldn't hear the motor running or anything and it was up on a hoist. However the guy at AW reckoned it was putting out about 280rwhp with it's current running gear. The only thing that me and a few mates (who likely know more about cars than manufacturers do) could point out was that the side sils on the kit were slightly mismatched in colour and that the car had been resprayed hastily. The paint job itself was good, but you could see under the guards and so on where they hadn't sprayed the car was previously white. Asked him to give me a call as soon as it came back from compliance and I'd take it for a drive and buy if I liked it, gave him my card. Never heard from him. Glad I didn't really, because I fkn live my GTR
