I also wondered about heatsoak from the radiator but I guess if you did mount the radiator back further and use a thermo fan you would have a bit of room to play around with to mount the cooler. Sounds like more people have attempted it than I thought.

Our laws in NZ aren't as harsh as yours, I wouldn't be worried about doing some cutting here and there, had to cut holes to install the kit in the 1st place and I still pass a warrent of fitness no problem, this is also with a catless exhaust, uncertified adjustables etc etc. And I wouldn't just go hacking holes here and there i'd make it look respectable. Yeah I didn't think it would cut out too much pipework but people are always saying bends are bad and that would get rid of quite afew of them. I remember seeing a picture of an r34 drift car in a magazine ages ago with no headlights and you could see the silicon elbows where each headlight would've been, and it was obviously for cooler piping. Thanks for you input though, anyone else's thoughts...?

Hi, was just looking at my front mount intercooler the other day and wondered if there was any other possibilities of how I could mount it to make piping alot shorter & less bends etc as I just have the common cooler kit piping. My idea was (with front mount cooler) was to flip it upside down, so the inlet and outlet are closer to the top of the cooler, and route your piping from the turbo straight forward to the area by the back of the headlight/beside the radiator, then one 90 degree bend into the cooler, then another 90 degree out of the cooler back into the engine bay (same as other side) then into the plenum. This cuts out around 4 x 90 degree bends + whatever length of pipework. Just an idea I was looking at, haven't givin it much thought though, just wanted to know if anyones ever tried a similar setup, obviously there would need to be a bit of butchery and fabricating involved but i'm fine with that. Just throw your thoughts at me

that could of been the problem, will keep that in mind for future reference, everything is working 100% now.
-
Solved the problem mate, was just a blown fuse under the dash. thanks for your help
-
funkymonkey - yeah starter motor was working, engine was definately cranking over. lachlan33 - yeah there was a wire that has a joiner in it that came apart but like i mentioned earlier in the thread i'd already checked all the connections. Problem was th blown fuse, not sure how or why it blew but guess it was just doing it's job, starting fine now. Thanks guys

checked the engine control fuses in the under dash fusebox and one is blown so hopefully this solves my problem! Will let you know the outcome when my battery is charged

Already checked the plug plenty of times to make sure it's connected properly but no luck... As soon as I turn the ignition on it just starts flashing code 55 and won't start
-
Ok so I had the ecu out just to see whether it was a completely stock ecu or remapped etc, and when i plugged it in again, they car started and ran for about 1 minute then died and hasn't started since, when I turn the ignition on the check engine light stays on and won't go out like it should do. When i put the ecu into diagnostic mode it flashes code 55 meaning everything should be fine? but still the car won't start. I can not smell any fuel in the exhaust after cranking, but can hear the fuel pump prime when i turn ignition on... so maybe something to do with the injectors? or could it be the airflow meter? the ecu has a bit of dodgy wiring behind it where something has been tapped into it in the past but everything looks like it's connected to where it should be so I don't know whats causing the problem? Any ideas guys...?
-
I don't use the screw i just short out the 2 connectors on the plug under the dash on the drivers side
-
yea doesn't seem to want to get out of diagnostic mode? starts flashing code 55 as soon as I turn on the ignition
-
Ok so i put the ecu back in and now the car doesn't want to start... It threw a code 12 (air flow meter) because one of the wires that was previously joined on the ecu came apart when i took it out but i connected it back together (it was the air flow meter sensor wire). I reset the ecu and now it's throwing a code 55 meaning eveything should be good, but the car wont start. As soon as i turn the ignition on it starts flashing the code 55? So i'm lost as to whats wrong...

On the wiring just back from the ECU plug was a heap of black plastic and insulation tape so i pulled it off and uncovered this plug... Look familier to anyone?
-
Anybody know where I can find a diagram of the ECU wires to tell me what wire is what so I can tell whats been tampered with?
-
2LV8ETR - Yeah it appeared pretty stock looking to me, thanks for the help anyways. mad082 - Maybe there is a speedcut... I just know it can go a fair bit past the 180k where the speedo dial stops, what speed is the standard speed cut usually at? I just remembered that ages ago when I was still using the stock turbo, I had a burst wastegate vaccum line and the engine overboosted to over 20 psi, without a boost cut coming into play and it was under load when this happened so it seems pretty certain that no boost cut exists... On the plug on my ECU there is evidence of wires that have been cut and joined or tapped into in it's previous life in japan (car had some gps navigation gear left in it) but I can't see what would eliminate the factory boost cut
-
What model skyline is that ecu from? looks different to mine (r33 s2). Heres a pic of my ecu, nothing I can see that looks tampered with
-
Ok thanks, once I get the ecu cover off, what am I looking for to tell if it's all original or not...? or will it be obvious?
-
I've got a s2 r33 with the following mods... full exhaust, cooler, intake, turbo upgrade & external wastegate, splitfires. Asked for an 8psi spring for the wastegate but when i installed everything, found out it was an 11psi spring so now running 11psi. It runs fine, a bit rich as expected, but what I was wondering about is I haven't come across a boost/fuel cut and there is no speed cut either. I wound the boost up to slightly over 15 psi temporarily with a boost controller just to check if there was any boost or fuel cut but nothing? I've examined the ECU and it appears to be the stanard one but why is it not limiting the boost or anything? And I thought the standard ecu's could not be remapped?

Hey just wondering if anyone knows if supra 550cc injectors with be a straight swap for my rb25 injectors as I have a mate whos got some up for sale? I know they are side feed but unsure if they need modifying at all to make them fit so wondered if anyone has come across this before, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
-
Yea I was going to use S15 Injectors. about the Z32... At what point is the standard AFM at it's max?
-
I know that if I was to upgrade my injectors to aftermarket items I would need some kind of aftermarket ECU to make the engine run... Would this still be the case if I upgraded using something like sr20det injectors? Would the standard ECU work with these or is a new ecu or piggy back ecu needed for these aswell? Engine is RB25DET sII Thanks
-
Oh ok, do they just fade from old age? Is there any other possibilities because they don't look like they've faded (same colour under the plug socket and everywhere else on the plug) or is this common for them to fade?
-
Yea I've checked the ECU and theres nothing on it so i'm guessing it's just a sticker a previous owner has put on... Thanks
-
Hey guys, I own a 1996 R33 GTS-T sII and it has a "MINES" sticker on the bootlid where "gts25t" would normally be, the sticker looks very old like it has been there the cars whole life but I am unsure if this means something about the car or if it was just a previous owner in japan putting stickers on their car for the hell of it. I haven't come across anything on the car that would suggest that it's some kind of special r33 sII but just wondered if anyone has any info on this. I'll attach a photo of the sticker too.

Hey guys just a question on injectors, I've got a RB25det sII and was looking at buying another stock plenum to modify to a front facing plenum. The 2nd hand plenum i'm looking at is complete with a set of injectors with purple plugs, but the seller isn't sure if they're aftermarket or not. Any idea on what they are? I thought my engine had stock injectors but I looked and it has grey plugs, unlike the other ones. So does that mean my engine has stock injectors (grey plugs) and this other plenum has aftermarket injectors? (purple plugs)
