Here's some incar / out from Race 3 NSW Sports Sedan Championship Wakefield Park R2
-
Will get some footage through hopefully mid week. Race 2, Sunday morning ended up 8th. Race 3 - Put a couple of new Kuhmo's on, didn't help time much, lots nicer to drive - still in the 1.02's. Busy crappy, action packed track - but Henry and I got the trophy - Yeah!!
-
Hi Duncan Good to catch up, shame about your little noise, car looked great in practice and you were kicking butt. Don't forget that little vent system we spoke about, you will be surprised. We qualified not so good 1.04s - cold and didnt have the grip required. Race 1 still dissapointed with times, 1.02s but got 5th from grid 10. Had to weld out a diff flange tonight, crack around bottom of flange upright - big thanks to Andrew (Mosler) for use of stick welder that I havent used for 15 years upside down. Hoping holds till we get home and attack with the Mig. A note to all, this is an older car but since purchase we have had lots of TIG welded parts fail - hopefully tommorrow brings better times. Cheers

We are running sports sedans Wakefield, I hope it is dry too as I think my wets were manufactured the same year as the car and new ones aren't on the option list at the moment. 3 dry runs EC packed up, dry for AU3 dont mind the wet for R33 heres a link for SBS coverage from QLD Round 1 Irace / AU Our best coverage from around the 12 minutes http://vimeo.com/channels/irace2011 Cheers

Hi All Just got home from EC Supersprint. Karen in R33 improved 7 seconds from last outing ended up with a 1.50, back on Apexi tune. As per normal idling just off idol is a bit rough, great useable power again on track 400 + at all four, works well from 3600rpm on. I had a good start in Henry, finally beat R35 first session, second session was all keen and broke left front stubb axle off - turn 3. Handling and brakes are now behaving, 1.37.7 had traffic and settling in. Cheers PS sorry no vids, somebody left the POV were we downloaded the last vids. Hopefully, if we can find a stubb axle - will be running Sports Sedans this week coming at Wakefield and the following week, Karen running R33 Regularity at Bathurst.

Heres Some bits and pieces from Shannons Nationals Round 1 at WP We were going to do this next year BUT experience tells us win lotto first lol Didnt get practice - brake lights didnt want to play - did re-wire for qualifying and then popped new front brake hose on lap one. New front rotors had pedal pulsation 10 - 15mm D tent spring 3rd to 5th gate went somewhere first race? Did 3 laps in qualifying - just scraped rear of grid. FInsihed 12th Race 1, 10th race 2 and 10th race 3 (with modified bonet and splitter) Cheers

Hi All Had a play a bit earlier than planned in Shannons Nationals over the weekend. New brake rotors had major issues, pedal pulsation over 20mm. Setups getting closer, all in all - happy with weekend, continuos 1.01's under race conditions Looks to me, to run in top ten you need another cheque book for panels. Some of the top cars are something else compared to our old girl. Some small panel work to do front splitter etc, little bump in race 3. Results attached. Cheers
-
Hi Mark Not sure if its LS2 or 3 will check with Joel Knott, Joel's Father has been building top race cars and engines for years from go -karts to supercars!! And as far as leaving supercar for dead - was less than a second in overall lap time - and I am working on it. Don't like to say BUT our car has actually done 1.14.5's - so the driver has gotta bit of work to do. We have had a bumpy ride on the home front - since purchase but I guarantee watch this space!!

With or without beer neil ?
-
Yep Dunc - Shock Pressures actually, struggling but getting there Anyways, here's some brain fade and other bits and pieces from QLD.
-
Thanks Duncan Sorting is - not happy, slow!! Got car square - Having issues with reset, starting to peave me a bit - a minimal change in shock pressures, huge overall setup change - still got same springs and bars as Wakefield, just not happening with square car New Dunlops at QR, didn't get what I was looking for especially lap 3 race 1, left front deparated big time at turn 3. Vid soon. Race 3, turn 1 - jumped on the brakes - front right brake hose decided to have departure. So overall - although off the pace was disappointed and happy to finish 2nd and 3rd and 2 DNFs Soooo, I bought an AU Supercar, to get away from tune issues LOL thats motor racing and Irace no dents - were'nt they lucky. Too offs but not my fault Ball to drive but - too much shit to change for setup - havent touched 95% yet and so many issues: Rear bar up, rear bar down, brake bias up / down. Springs up / down. Rebound up down high and low. Bump down high and low aaaaaahhhhh untouched yet For 30 years I thought I could set a car up for a race track, I cant use a computer at all - thats Karens job and little brother builds em I think I am gunna start a new apprenticeship. Nup, give me a couple of months I am sure I can sort it If not - we are gunna have a used car sale including Motorbikes, speedway bikes, 2 x skylines and a supercar. Special thanks to Steve Ingwerson for a loaner gearbox for us to run QLD - much appreciated and the biggest thanks to Image Racing - after sales support is second to none, special thanks to Terry and family

Here's last lap QLD Race 4f (Irace)

Watched a bit of the drifting Friday night at EC, me rears were definitely up to i.t There is no steering lock, we were in garage 23 took 3 goes to get in. Never say goodbye, if you keep your foot in a bit eventually you'll end up going the right way (Hopefully / maybe / sometimes) Its a myth slicks just let go, cause they don't ! Its just when they do, circumstances are normally under more extreme conditions and shit yeah it happens faster. Cheers
-
Thanks Brian for the great snaps, definitely a better camera than ours. Cheers see you soon
-
Heres a lap in the AU, on 2 plus year old tyres - and probably / hopefully one of my worst car set ups for rear and gear box life. Cheers
-
Hi all AU had a crap day at the creek, could not get any rear grip in the 2 runs I got in. Think I may have sorted though, had shocks re-gased and didn't re-adjust valving - could'nt work out why rear bar adjustment didn't help at all, untill on the way home. Fourth gear had an issue (noise) drained oil and dropped box out - I have got a spare tooth, although dissapointed was happy to break 6 year old Sports Sedan Record (NSW Supersprint) by about 2 seconds with a similar time to the R33's best. 1.40.03 ish. Karen enjoyed her first supersprint in R33, had some traffic concerns, but was settling in nicely in run 4 but red flagged on 2nd lap. 33 ran issue free. Will pop some vids up hopefully Monday night So I am gunna do a hillclimb in it tomorrow - Bathurst Right way State Round. Congrats to Marek 38's straight up, but watch out for Henry next time.

Hi, Stuart, Met you at Phillip Island last year when you were going head to head with John Kennedy. Done my first PI 6 hrs and would love to do Bathurst regularity. Please point me to the right direction to get info and entry forms.I will be teaming up with some Sydneysider for the Festival of Sports cars moving to EC this year at Easter. Need to get some track time at EC to prepare for time attach Aug 5 &6. Will be attending Drive Bathurst in November. Hope I will be able to chasing you on a track day to get my lap time down. Busy developing some track cars ATM. S15 298kw/180SX 319kw/GTR33 looking for 400+kw and a S13 with a V8 Chev 340kw cheers Yeah, keep in touch with regards to Regularity Bathurst next year. Good to see you're busy. We went from Apexi to Link in 33, also from 440 to sub 400kws - with ridiculous compressor surge on link system, even tried restrictors on intake - works great on dyno, absolute crap on track. Links going and back to Apexi - will settle for around 420kws as 440, 2.6ltr 25 pound - created to many third gear issues (OSG), but will be at superlap Cheers
-
Thanks BOZ22N, this year Irace series - 3 in QLD and 3 in NSW for AU / Taxi, maybe a couple of state sports sedan races. Still got 32 and 33, Karen will be doing a couple of supersprints and regularity Bathurst in R33 plus there is a couple of hillclimbs I haven't contested, thought I had best go and have a look at, with regret 32 maybe have to go, running out of shed room. This Saturday 26th, AU will be doing Supersprint at EC as run down for QLD following weekend.

Hi all here's a sneak peak of the AU at purchase - Wakefield Park, Feb 2011 How much fun can you have in 4 sessions as Wakefield Park on a fun day. Considering all previous cars, we just seem to cop issues at Wakefield ie Drive shafts flying to bits, gear box failures, slipping clutches, new front brake rotors self destructing on warm up, many moons ago was good in the good old Kingswood, but I gotta say - the SBR AU is the most fun I've had at Wakefield. __________________ 1st - 2009 Aussie Supersprint & (Hillclimb Fastest Tintop) Champion Type SV - R33 1st - 2010 Fastest 6cly Open Class World Time Attack EC 1st - 2010 NSW Supersprint and (Hillclimb Fastest Tintop) Champion - Type SV - R33 + Various Irace

Hi all Supersprint or door to door is a personal choice - worse luck both have tooo often incurred paint swapping. I agree superlap is a fantased supersprint, but there is some nice cars - and a few bucks chasing the sport and the purple girls were @#RF, why aren't they at state supersprints or IRace meetings (I will be speaking now, this has been bought up - to Irace organisers - this is now to be a must IMO) Drop the drivers briefing, and have pit girl check out time instead! (Imagine the lap times) Yes supersprints budget if lots nicer, and more often than not the people. But does not come without incident Yes race is a bit more expensive but might fulfil the goal you are chasing if some dickhead doesn't get too excited and likes the colour of your car on his For example Brother in law, car in weekend F#^^$D at Bathurst IPRA (12 Hour) - note Torana was genuine full ground up rebuild / how would you feel? Driver or Drover! As an old friend once told me, don't mix your probabilities with your capabilites!! -

Sorry Zeb and Evil Car turned up in transporter was unloaded, Terry jumped in and did half a dozen laps - said he was happy - showed me the basics I did 5 laps, came in for a quick lookover went back out and forgot all - did not even cosider camera that we had in the road car ready until on the way home I was having too much fun guys, but have fitted it for a test run at EC next week - to be sure to be sure - hopefully good coverage of QLD raceway 5th and 6th March Cheers -

If you include kink at the end of main straight as 1, turn 2 was an issue as was coming on to main straight - so to be honest can't answer - left rear spring pre-load, had a mile of wind off. Flat tyre feel, too busy looking at everything else and having too much fun, carried on (since sorted). Over the top loop? - turn 4 - 5 the bumps gone - about time. Had great runs - best ever down to fish-hook. Top speed was down a bit, (to skyline) as I had to back off for kink, due to nipping front right tyre - now sorted, due to left rear pre-load issue (hopefully sorted) When car was flat - carried good braking around 6000psi Max rev's except 2 stuff ups, one at 8,200rpm and the others a secret - was around 7,200rpm average After two weeks in the shed, no oil leaks, decent alignment - can't wait Cheers -

Thanks Ducan, Settlilng to car and budget this year, chase a couple of sponsors, and hopefully play next year. Got a heap of spare tyres with the car, thanks to Terry - gunna use these for settle in period and see if we can use some D11 Dunlops for qualifying times. Cheers
