With regards to cage above in your mates car, at a club day - that would be my call, at a state event - it would have to be a no, after all the other expenses on a motor vehicle, surely one - if they want to race or compete against the clock on slicks as your mate does, surely he can afford an approved cage. If it is road registered bond cages still do approved engineers certificate noted on rego papers - extra 300-600 bucks - or stay in current class or maybe you can put some A050's or similar on and run with him, but this depends I suppose on which CAMs rules you run in - supersrpint or hillclimb - whether you have to be registed or not - one you do one you don't as Type SV! Personally, winning my first NSW state supersprint championship in 1989, in Type 2, with a bolt in bond cage, that I found quite safe and for many years to follow. I agree some changes made are for the better - many for the worse. It is my belief we have club rules, targa rules, rally, hillclimb, supersprint - state and national. All with variations It is my opinion, with regret I believe CAMs time to be limited. As is clear to most competitors in all fields, they have lost contact with the needs of competitors and the sport. Cheers Even there insurance company is pointless.

Hi Duncan Here's part of 2011 update, also not there is no outright season winner - class honours only, note the time limit for non - race supersprint, encouraging first timers, and old? All registrants must demonstrate that they are capable of lapping Eastern Creek in a time of less 2 minutes 15 seconds and Wakefield Park in a time of less than 1 minute 25 seconds in the car to be used in the Championship. Type 4 • Class 4D limited to vehicles with engine capacities of 3001cc tp 6000cc. This is in line with maximum engine size permitted in Class 3D – Sports Sedans. This is the group that Type 4 is based on. • Class 4E is now for 4WD Turbos and any car that has an engine in excess of 6 litres. All cars that have an engine in excess of 6 litres must be road registered. Type SV • Any registrant in this Type has right to use slicks on his/her car but if they do they go to Type 4 in the appropriate class based on engine size excepting 4WD Turbos and any car with an engine over 6 litres which go to Type 4 Class 4E. As Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas are now excluded from Type 4, any registered Clubman, Kit Car or Replica that uses slicks will go to Type 5 Class 5B.

Hi Duncan I would draw the line, when tyres say for racing purpose only, if I was scrutineering and you didn't have a cage at supersprint, hillclimb or rally. Just a question, how come you didn't run slicks or electronic wing at superlap? Secondly, I don't have a hidden agenda - the d*)khe#d that let you run in 4D (Sports Sedan) in the first place f*!ked the 4D sports sedan class, period. Note to all - next year NSW supersprint, R35's and similar can run 4E class, this allows, for over 6ltr, traction control, no window nets, no race seats, no roll cage etc etc etc (but must be road registered) I like your competiton and watching R35's compete - I had no quarms on championship points or previous years - still don't. I think it is wrong that they were allowed to go in 4D and obtain records, in a totally non complying car - my opinion and the way I read the CAMs manual - and if the NSW supersprint panel continues to make new classes and changes and the owners can't nominate the correct class or get them changed to suit f'it who's gunna bother turning up. (Irace Do You?) Cheers

Its not practical for road cars to have roll cage - its not practical for road cars to run slicks! Its not practicle for daily drivers to do sub 1.40's at Eastern Creek as an example

Just had another bundy and worked out that Thanks is spelt like this and not like above, Cheers

Thnaks Scooby 36 - You've done well
-
Yes speedy results hey - I think mylaps look after the rules and the tintop trophies. But must say was a great track - can't wait to have another crack at Irace next year. Dropped 33 off to Advan on the way home, going link system and some more injectors. Fuel pump brushes seem to be going fine, they have gotta outlast the OEM ones (4 months) Bitta bad news with in car only got some practice laps. Cheers
-
Cheers all, got a 90% plus run in today, 3rd run was happy with time 1.22.8 something Maybe, the rule book is at my laps for classes all I can find is last weekends - no up to date results. Will put some incar up next week. Duncan still can - lucky he had the camera on the right side when the left side didnt allow room for a camera. Presentation was great, got a second in class in 2A, B F / up class and then they forgot fastest tintop trophy anyway. Other than 1950's classes and class issues, the facilities and club ran a fantastic event - for a info note, we contacted Doreen and Michael of CAMs (our state reps of CAMs) and were promised a reply on classes for Aussie Hillclimb and Supersprints and guess what -well maybe their reponse email maybe going through mylaps So on a quite word if you want the classes sorted for next year in Adelaide - please do as I did and waste your time but please continue to email Doreen and Michael until someone gets an answer Was good to meet some unknowns - some still are - anyway I am sure next time I will have a bit more time and we will meet again PS remember above lets rub it in to CAMs thats what we are paying our membership fees for and get this sorted out

Delayed repsonse: - Glen Innes wasnt cold beer was crap lucky for Steve and I had a bottle of Bundy fully imported from Bathurst and at -no time did we feel the cold, (there was no freight on the bottle from Glen Innes to Warwick) For all others we got to Warwick about 10ish gave the car a tub, found the track had a look see - a cruise or 2 - had no 4wd. Sorted that (fluid level sensor) - had another cruise or 2 - or about 30 laps plus. Bugger me canvas doesn't grip very good, so the Dunlop slicks are over it, A050s are back on for the sleepover - we will see what we can do tomorrow. Our PB today (Powerbox) was a 1.24.2 top speed 199.84km per hour -great track, all having a ball, but I think after tomorrow might have to take back, that Wakefield is the hardest track on brakes and tyres Duncan will be 5 seconds quicker tomorrow, had the full crew put new rear swaybar bushes in tonight and without being a dobber he wasnt rushing at all LOL beer time Cheers
-
Pending classes, if 18 x 9 1/2s will fit I will have some A050's 50% worn with us if you have any issues, if you want them and pending class have some 280x655x18 race tyres at the worst we can go 50 / 50 Cheers see you there

Always thought you were blonde, I didn't get beat. I and many congratulated LSX-438 for times acheived, you didn't read the question, you didn't understand the question, you don't like the thread don't reply

Supersprints have classes for a reason, in NSW their is types 1, 2, 3 4, 5 and Type SV, so your saying my road registered R33 with a roll cage - CAMS complaint car - log booked shouldnt complete in supersprints, although legal to compete in Type SV, 4D and the new 4E - well bugger me the question originally asked is pretty much based on rules and eligability - there all available on the CAMs website, 90% of supersprints held are under CAMs rules / guidelines and yes a total mess.# So u think any car with a log book should not run ! too bad if they enjoy supersprints or car testing & setup ! If you want to race the clock not other competitors, thats fine, if your tyres state for racing purpose only - what are they doing on your road car? And if they are, it should be eligable for class entered example 3D Race, 4D supersprint, 2A, ect. I would have thought this was a very simple thread, I didn't say at any stage this was for beginners or F1 drivers, registered or unregistered cars, maybe pull up the rules for supersprints and what they are based on, and in 3 months time someone else will have something to say. All I ask look at the rules and eligibility prior. Lastly, it might not be door to door racing - you are still racing the clock and therefore other competitors, if the tyres fitted suit the class entered so be it! but I suppose it is only the tyres that say for racing purpose only. Be pretty crappy fields if Type 5s and proper race cars didnt turn up. I think you'd find most supersprints would be cancelled due to lack of entries. The original question stated club, state and national events. Thanks guys That will do from me - we have a supersprint to go to - all it be a national championship - some of us attending will do our best not to be "racing" but if on slicks I will have to give the clock a run for its money.

Hi Duncan We are camping at Glen Innes Thursday night, maybe see you on the road, wouldnt mind a practice - would really like to know what class we are in, but I am taking my racing tyres just in case. Beers sound good - safe trip to all
-
Thanks Duncan I am happy with my 32 and 33, good thing with the caged 33 I am eligible to run lots of classes and when I put slicks on I can go "racing" it even says so on the tyres.
-
Yeah in a round about way, I think so, maybe - so I'll put you down for a YES. So 4wd supercharged VY ute should be fine to run in (your so called) piss about Non Race category next year on slicks example lets say NSW Supersprint Type 4E. (But I think I'll go a cage anyways). I don't agree with your later part of reply, I think everybody should be eligable to run whether the sports sedan is worth 2K or 300, real or not - as long as it is eligible as is with any class. Secondly, don't see many sports sedans being used as daily drivers. Lastly, if someone gets injured or killed, as above comments / replies state, there won't be entry level motorsport - it will be killed for all guidelines - what rules. Cheers
-
I don't recall the question singleing out "racing", I did specify Club, State or National, the question was aimed at vehicles capable of up to 300kms per hour.
-
Also agree to a point, but there wasnt many cars in the 70's tin cans or not, that would exceed 220km's Therefore this was an equaliser for safety as is controlled tyres in V8 Supercars
-
Your lucky to get confirmation - mine and many are in the post, I'm sure! On the grapevine, sounds like standing start is as per regs, although outright time is based on single flying lap. Wouldnt have minded the standing lap time personally, care factor is at the moment - run the track have a looksee, have a good time. Then send CAMs a letter and request again for national rules.
-
Should a 300km per hour road car be allowed to run slicks without approved roll cage - seat - harness - net - kill switches - etc at a club, state or national level in Sports Sedan Class Yes or No answers appreciated?
-
Sure will be Duncan, you betya Terry will have it ready - as previous, cant keep 3rd OS G in for more than one event - so far this year! Handled 380 thereabout KWs they will not do 400's anyways put another in for Aussie SS - next year getting a one off gear built gotta be better. Just put the new car behind 12 months with all these issues, but anyways I suppose its a few more sorted before we get it there. Probably wont be in touch before QLD got some appontments for a week or so at Westmead with the young bloke, hopefully we will catch up up north Will be the taking the usual half trailer of bits - so if anyone needs anything - come see us, happy to help if we can!! Does anyone have any notes on class changes or accepted entries. Been a few weeks since speeking to Bill, thought they would have been finished with there state rounds and stuff and bits and pieces and things - an entry list or something would be good if anyones chatting Cheers
-
Thanks I'll have the table then, saves me booking - get em to make it for 10 Regards
-
See if you can get a bigger table! If not - we are staying at the Centrepoint Midcity Motel, maybe catch up for a couple of beers? Still got gearbox issues with 33, cannot keep OS 3rd in for one event. Anyone got a 34 box in Sydney or about there somewhere? Worst comes to worst, will take the 32, will enjoy knocking some cob webs out of the old dear anyway!! Hopefully have some news on classes this week!
-
Irace is definitely the go, I rang Bill last week, he has got our entries - we are in? - don't know what class, we have sent them a copy of the National Supersprint Rules - apparently to date they have dropped the standing start, but to date have not heard on classes. They did appologise as they have there state supersrpint this weekend and hillclimb next - so therefore no doubt it is a busy club. We did also question this is also a national event and would appreciate entries / classes - sorted asap. Bill and event secretaries numbers are same, same - you'll get Bill - personally I think everyone entered may have to take a copy of 2010 Australian Supersprint Championship Sporting Regulations from CAMs website with them - attached SP10_Supersprint_Sporting_Regulations_Q310.pdf

Yeah - good to see you had a good time, and must have made it home safe. Congrats to the radical, Andrie - new record and Marek R35 - new 4D record 1.38.8263 - closely followed by Duncan R35 1.38.9376 - good stuff - too fast for R33 Our right front wheel bearing exploded on third run following new class record - so looking for straight R33 uprights and hub assemblies. Just sorted points system - reckon we are going to try slicks for the next 2 rounds. Should'nt change outright points - but keen to know what the old girl will do. See you soon
-
Yep, Zebra ya got it, Correct for type SV (NSW supersprint rules), but these bits, cannot be run at a national CAMs event in sports sedan rules!!
