Don't overlook that SV vehicle must be road registered and comply with ADR's - the only changes allowed from SV to 4D is the use of slicks to run 4D in supersprints in NSW - not other CAMs events.
-
Hi Neil Hows the spark going???? Weather's been a bit nicer - you must have found an issue by now! Oh by the way, had some confirmation - ss panel, you can run 4d with slicks stepping up from Type SV, thus, you not having to comply with part of the following 4D based 3D rules 1. Over 6ltr 2. Traction control 3. Paddle gear shift 4. Roll Cage 5. Electronic Aero 6. Log Book 7. Window Net 8. Seats and Harness and yet to run SV vehicle must be road registered, pending on model of vehicle - this can get tricky eg if the compliance plate states 4 seater / ADRs, air bags etc - this must be maintained, although CAMs approve the removal of rear seat for fitment of rollcage for safety factor, but bugger me 4D isnt a CAMs class anyway and so on !! and apparently by the way - SV doesnt stand for Special Vehicle - this year it is now Small Volume and under the CAMs manual based on 3J, therefore requires no seats, no road registration, but thats only if you want to run state hillclimb, Aussie HC, Aussie SS, world time attack or open race meeting in Australia or Tamania, but does not comply with NSW Supersprints. Sorry to say, Small Volume / sorry Special Vehicle class did take 5 years to get going and was one of the biggest fields in Hillclimbs and Supersprints - looks like someone f$## it up Cheers - thats all I know !!

Talking about the weather - bloody last 3 days -6 to -8's thats correct less than zero, middle of the day hasnt been over 9 degrees - buts its looking good - forecast is snow Friday and Saturday Neil hope you get your wiring sorted out, for EC next round - long range forecast is rain, so an extra wire for a windscreen wiper might be handy. I have got a big bottle of rainex I can tip on you if you park too close lol Let us know how you go

Thanks, but my lucks turned to sh*T, hats off to you and Marek for where you have put the 35's, as you do, I drive to enjoy (in 3 years will do the decade stuff) I didnt think I looked that old, you will have ask K about that. How about a few different classes, ask for an invite to the next panel meeting? Cant see why NSW Supersprint panel moved away from CAMs manual? When other states and Australian supersprint even superlap is still based on this crappy old manual. Hillclimb, in all states, uses the manual as a bible - all be it not always for the better, but this is final. It does state in the cams manual, speed event rules, this does include Hillclimb and Supersprints etc etc etc Surely, someone has to realise that its 2010 nearly 2011, it took us 5 years to get SV rules eligible in the first place I think its time somebody else did something as this class can and was and will be the main entry for any speed event series. Anyways on borrowed gearbox (I hope) from Award Diff our next is Irace EC on the 9th Aug - in 33 and then looks like, if I cook tea and buy lots of flowers - 32 will be back out of the shed for Tamworth Hillclimb and the rest of the year. Over the mice thinking this a good home NOT. Cheers all PS I have just made a deal I can get the 32 out of the shed, but look out Karens also running next year, warning Karen was fastest lady first time in 32 in 2006 Australian HC C'Ship now older and crankier - believe me

Its raining, supersprint panel still havent advised if we can run our radical supercharged tow car yet - so maybe looking at the rules just for fun, I can run our 450hp upgraded to 525hp Scania its got a hydraulic adjustable rear wing - being a tipper, local rego, cant see anything in the rules that says I cant enter it in Type SV or 4D. Its on semi-slicks and will put some good rubber down for everyone if nothing else. Excellent for blocking. Better go and pull the gear box back out of the 33 instead of stirring the pot too much. Cheers

Hi Brian Seems you have access to the RTA computer, you might like to look at other ADRs emmissions and suspension changes on 09 cars, let us know, I dont beleive anyone said neither of the cars werent doing an excellent job, I think the issue is if you go racing you need one set of rules, if you go hillclimbing you need another and if you go supersprinting different again - I think this is more of a panel and CAMs issue. Following 5 years of running SV type classes - some combine 2A, 2B, 3J in some supp regs continuity is not there I do beleive it is not fair on older 4 D cars to compete against the 35's nor would the 35's like to compete against Riccardello, Jackson and Hossack - I beleive the CAMs manual already has the class - 2A sports car with the option of the organising club to request registered or unregistered. You can build a car run at all 3 events even over 6 ltr. Lastly will be good to see another competitor because as you and others have noticed they are dwindling

Hi Duncan Here's one that comes to mind 2006 Supersprint Regs, Pg 15 Type 4, section 1.3 no vehicle shall be permitted to run as a Type 4 vehicle if it has an engine capacity in excess of 6000 cubic centimetres 2008 Supersprint Regs, Pg19 Type 4, section 1.7 Any vehicle that is classified as a Type SV vehicle pursuant to these regulations, with the exception of kit cars, prototypes and/or limited production vehicles that employ or use racing slicks, shall, at the option of the Entrant, be permitted to be entered any supersprint as a type 4 vehicle in any Class within Type 4 provided that engine capacity of the vehicle does not exceed the maximum capacity allowable in the Class entered. This one - 2010 Supersprint Regs, Pg 23 Type 4, section 1.3 No vehicle shal be permitted to run as a type 4 vehicle if it has an engine capacity in excess of 6000 cubic centimetres with the expection of those vehicles that, apart from the use of Race Tyres, comply with Type SV requirements.

Hi Duncan Personally I think the R35s are great, I also think SSP & Cams screwed the rules Re SV & Type 4, this year - for lots of 4D competitors, more so older vehicles and new comers. Anyways, as the rules state vehicles must be registered to be accepted for this variation as per the rules - any mod's, ie) exhaust, suspension, wheels, ECU's aero etc must comply with ADR's and rego for vehicle and age Good Luck & well done.

With regards to R35's There is a protest, being prepared (hearsay) is as follows The R35's in question apparently do not comply with 4D as per Cams Manual as per follows 1. This vehicle exceeds 6ltr 2. This vehicle is equiped with paddle shift gear selection 3. This vehicle is fitted with traction control 4. This vehicle is not equiped with a Cams approved roll cage 5. This vehicle is equiped with a rear wing ineligable for class 6. This vehicle is entered as 4D - does not comply? Unlogged vehicle? There is also questions on changes by Supersprint panel - overridding Cams Manual? The manual can be found on internet - www.camsmanual.com.au Also - there is apparently, current Type SV Vehicles now ineligable to run Run Type SV or 4D without acquiring a log book due to aerodynamics, the hearsay is from owners noting eligabity supersprint panel - the car is no longer elligble, (maybe Subaru) lucky our car has got a log book, cant wait for the s*it fight to start, so isnt motor racing great! So there you go Neil, my last post wasnt my last and on a PS note, congrats to Marek on a excellent time and also congrats Mark nearly there, next time! Comiserations to Neil with a DNS, next time please park 6 garages away - every time we are close we both have Issues - Congrats Nick on SVD win and condolances if your gear box s*iT as bad as mine - as a personal note, not that anyone cares from 30 years experience at all levels of motor sport, whatever the field or class, it is up to the owner / entrant to be correct on the entry form. Hope we all have a better day at EC if anyones bored theres a couple of hillclimbs on in between. Bye the way, nearly forgot, - we put a request into the supersprint panel for next year to run our old 2003 commodore station wagon, in 4d just because its supercharged and going to use slicks ("they said we were a bit radical"), and to date dont have an answer if this vehicle is eligable. If you go 1.7 x 6ltr into a 4wd this wouldnt be a bad combo in my opinion and thats why the car is still is the shed, it is in my beleif this vehicle is a 2A sports car as it is ineligable to run 4D.

As last reply to this site, I'll do a 35, but by no way on your recommendation - enjoy - see ya's next year

Congrats to all that ran superlap and who came along and supported - Didn't get to chat to many. We were happy with our time 1.40.3890, new PB for us - know next time to remove a bit more trim etc, just for that bit extra. Like to thank Bill from Gordon Leven Tyres and Mark Berry for some tyres for the last 2 runs - sorry I didn't go any faster! Anyways, we headed to Kempsey (Mt Cooperbung) to do State Hillclimb Saturday arve - first time there 3rd run Sunday broke the fastest tintop record by 3/4sec ending up with a time 27.23 on a pretty average track. Cheers and thanks again.

I think most of us had a great day, congrats again to LSX-438 - on a PB and all SAU - havent had time to go through all results yet. I'd like to give a special thanks to Peter at Advan Performance, for finally tuning our car - no major changes - this has taken 11 months and 3 tune shops, personally - no names - theres some tune shops out there - Nissan, Evo and Subaru that really have to pick their game up. Stop selling the add on's and blaming other peoples issues and get on with the job - some things can be so basic!! If we dont spend the cash on lies you get it in end product and the best advertising is at the track. As an example, we have picked up a good usable 40kw's @ 5 pound less boost. Helps our budget, helps engine, helps times, what can we say. Thanks Pete. Got some little mods to do before superlap - the big plan is on a good day - to crack into the high 40's. Tried Kumho's today, I was a little off the pace on em, enjoyed driving on the tyre, the car's still a bit fat, a cooler day - worth having a look, and probably with our car 4psi more pressure than the A050's. Comiserations to JFK on a gear box issue, congrats to Sam - great time, hope to see you both later in the week and also to a couple nice and well know sports sedans and lastly to John - Evo on loss of an engine - this is a sad thing, shame this puts you out of the world.

Best Tyres For Sprint And Time Trials
R32 Stuart replied to fubar's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Hi All Just had a quick glance, on R32 at 300kw,Yoky A050's Softs with, front 34psi Rear 32 Hot at most events up to 5 laps or not too hot a day - on the R33, (370kws) at Oran Park with brand new DZo3's 285x30x18 SR's were a clear second slower than Yoky A050's 265x35x18 this is also case at the same test at Eastern Creek. So keeping this in mind Yoky's wear a bit quicker, produced the best time and over $1000 a set cheaper. although in longer race conditions say 10 - 20 laps, the DZo3s are nicer to drive on. -

Grippy Pmed Please!! ([email protected]) Hi guys - bit quite here - so bring you up to date, as you might know, it took 2 weeks doing water hoses behind the head on R33, new belts and radiator hoses at same time. Took it for a run up the road and bugger me, busted top hose out of radiator tank. Got new radiator and bugger me, had a miss - two weeks later - new fuel pump, fuel lines, new ignitor, new spark plugs, following re-gap all good. New brakes are great, just fitted the weirdest rear diffuser I have seen - hoping it works, also (look out Duncan) new carbon boot (doesnt fit real good) and wing (looks good) New mower blade on front after EC (moment), if I can get the fuel tank back in the bloody thing will see you at Wakefield So theres my goss, everybody else must be keeping it a secret (lol)

Good to see a few SAU and others running. Maybee, we can help travellers with bits and pieces!! Eg will have a jack, tools and some spares available on day for others travelling (cause I am sick of working my 33 for the last month), as we only have 2 and a half hours travel so will load car up with used, but some spares - hoses, coil packs etc. If we can be of any assistance, find us - car 112 Silver R33 We would like to wish all competitors and fatz and crew (spectators) a good couple of days - hoping we can have the same Cheers

Fosc @ Bathurst / April 2010
R32 Stuart replied to LSX-438's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Hi Duncan As you know, Jason, Damien, John and I got our money back following a couple of requests about a month ago. The events getting too close, too many cars, too many issues (roll cage may become one for you)- not enough info, I think I would be asking for a refund as they say they have plenty of reserves and maybe join white 35 for November run - John (red evo) has done this event several times also and highly recommends it! -
What a day, congrats to Duncan, Jason and co Issue after issue, firstly tow car flat battery, forgot dorian first run, then misfire in R33 for 2 runs, had 2 red flag runs (one lap only) finally on the second red flag after confrontations with starter and control we got a re-run then split oil hose on catch can, then melted hose off catch can - then did water hose under the back of the head (its easy to fix, just pull starter motor out, brake master cylinder etc, etc) So if you are having a crappy day like this there is nothing like topping it off with no grip - enjoy

Hello Bomex8 Just for your records, the perimeter track record is held by Kevin Mackrell with a time of 54.98 set in Nov 2008, in a Chev powered 260Z Kevin has the Figure 8 class record at 60.70 and with my time at 59.65 figure 8's mine for tintops
