  1. Yeah - spotted again I spotted a white R32 GTR coming out of Jerra at around 4ish - gave a wave and got one back
  2. SafT - what sort of mods were done to your fathers RS4 ? (or is the 25gFour different?) Is it based on the RB25det as well ? Would be interesting to see, to give us something to strive towards J
  3. G'day Leech, Those gromet things SUCK !! From what I could make out, they are a plug either side of where it goes into the car (not the door side), so you have to get the plug out and feed the wires through the spare holes !! I gave up after a while and just ran them beside it. Hmm, not sure about space inside the door, I was running fully active - no passive cross over J
  4. Spotted a black series 1 R33 GTS-t down the Hyper D today. Sorry I didn't wave, by the time my brain told my hand to wave you had passed me
  5. Hahaha, good story Today I got two people asking me what sort of car it was One bloke went right out of his way to weave in and out of traffic to pull up next to me to ask me questions about it. He said 'what's in it?' I said 'turbo straight 6 4wd' he replied 'ahhh, it's going up against the new Audi A4's and Volvo S70's'. I replied 'naaa, their a little too late, this is a 1997 model'... His jaw just dropped Mad wagon - did you put the intercooler kit in ? what size is it ? J
  6. Naa, sadly it'll be a no go If it was one of a pair, the turbine/compressor wheels will be matched to run from half of the 2.6 motor. So they are designed to work well on 1.3lt each. Anybody else got any thoughts on this? J
  7. Depends on if the 2540 on the GTR was one of a pair or used as a single. Ususally they are used in pairs and have a T25 flange, so one of them wouldn't fit on a GTS-t (plus the A/R's would be all wrong for a single set-up). I couldn't see why they would use a 2540 as a single on a GTR, just not much of an upgrade and there's so many better options out there. Soooo, I dare say that it wouldn't fit. J
  8. I've got 4 stock rims (no tyres), but I'm in Canberra. If you can't find anything and are keen let me know. J
  9. Sweet - I'll check them out. Cheers J
  10. I'll have to see if I can make it (anyone mind if a wagon comes along ?) would be good to meet everyone. I'll see if I can drag GunMetalR33 along too. J
  11. Where ? lol Hahaha, just noticed the 'what volvo is that..' I get the same with mine
  12. Looks nice Have to get me some of those side skirts and rear bar thing one day...
  13. The actual valve is the same between the AVCR and the PFC boost control kit, the only difference is that you get the fancy display with the AVCR (plus the AVCR can do rpm and gear select boost levels). But.... You can get the PFC boost control kit for about $350ish, while the AVCR is around double that (talking new prices here). Yepp, if you stay with stock injectors and a not so wild turbo, you'll be able to simply unplug the PFC and plug the stock ECU back in. But if you go with bigger injectors you probably won't be able to run your stock ECU with them - it'll run way too rich. Just on the power increase, stock car is around 130rwkwish... Your upto about 170rwkw now - so about 40kw up on stock. After the mods you'll be up another 40kw, so you should be able to get a idea on the performance increase. J
  14. What other mods have you got? 170rwkw seems high for just 'exhaust, FMIC, etc'. Getting too 200 at 13psi shouldn't be too hard, but at stock boost it might be harder. Bank on needing a fuel pump. You should be able to push the stock injectors to around 220rwkw (might need a fuel reg too). I'd save the cash and get the boost control kit for the PFC, unless your really keen on the AVCR. It's a big jump $$$ wise to take it too 250rwkw. Do a search as there's heaps of threads on turbos for this power range, seems the 2835 is a good match. J
  15. Cool - another Stagea owner not too far away I found insurance to be just a bit less than what the R33 GTS-t was. I think I'm paying about $1400, but that's with only 40% NCB. So that should come down to around $1100 when it hits 60%. J
  16. I contacted E and M when I was ready to buy a Stagea. Told them what I wanted and said I had the cash ready to buy. Said they would get back to me in 3 days. I still haven't heard from them... There should be a few down Parramatta road I'd say. Grab the yellow pages and give a few places a ring. Driving an auto is fine. You just need to get used to not having 100% control over the gears. But if your that keen on a manual, I think the cheaper option would be to convert it over when you get it. But you never know, you might learn to like the auto I picked mine up for $21,000 through a private sale. It's a RS Four V, with the full leather interior, electric seats, dual sunroofs, CD player and TV etc... Had 54,000km on the clock and came with 11 months rego. When I got it and the auction sheets said it was a grade 4 which sounds about right cause it's spotless inside and out. Pretty happy with it, but with almost every second hand car you buy there's a few things I'd like to get looked at. The only downside to these cars is that they are very thristy. ~1600kg with the RB25det and an auto means not so good fuel usage. J
  17. Cool, sounds good I can't wait to start the mods on the RS4. Gotta get some money first
  18. What rpm do you stall it upto to launch ?
  19. Yepp, with a few mods these things are true sleepers. 4wd turbo 6 that the police don't even look twice at A few mates are trying to get me to deck the back out. Put a bed in the back, red padded velvet, mirror ball, maybe a few little flashy lights... Ahhhh, I'm getting flashbacks of the late 80's in the HT wagon So, do you think I should check the oil with the motor running? I just ran outside and had a look while the motor was off (and stone cold), and it's way above the full mark.... J
  20. Haha, well done That's the one thing I didn't like about the R33 GTS-t. If the road was even slightly wet you could say goodbye to quick take offs.. :chairshot Now ATTESSA is my friend One question, checking the gearbox oil, should it be checked with the motor running ? I remember the old (showing my age !) 180B's auto had to be checked with the motor running... J
  21. Has anyone else noticed that in standand mode it changes up too quick (around 2300rpm) driving normally, and doesn't like dropping back unless you give it 3/4 throttle ? I think this may be contributing to the 'not so good' fuel economy that they get. For this tank of fuel I'm going to drive around in power mode cause it tends to hold the gear a little longer (around 3000rpm) and doesn't mind dropping back. Also, what's the best way to launch the auto box? Is it safe to 'put in drive, left foot on the brake, stall it up to 3000rpm, then left foot off the brake' ? I did a few 0-100 times just by going off the brake and then plant the go peddal, but the results wheren't to good Cheers J
  22. 258 PAGES !! Damn, what sort of stuff does it cover ? I know it's not a workshop manual, but how did they stretch the 'non workshop stuff' to 258 pages ?? If it's good I'll be tempted to spend the $55 and grab one J
  23. Good Stuff Andrew. It could've been heaps worse. J
  24. I must have just missed you Shell. I was up there at about 7pm too. Oh, and if anyone is thinking about hiring the movie 'Dawn of the dead"... Don't !! LOL Imagine a 1980's zombie movie and that's it. :spew: J
