  1. Nope, mine doesn't either. It looks a bit plain around the back end without it ! J
  2. Single is aparently tougher and easier to balance for those high speed runs Also slightly (VERY slightly) less drag on the drivetrain. Single also has less things to go wrong with it (uni joints/bearing etc). But you'd have to be looking at big horse power numbers to consider changing. J
  3. Good stuff SK, you can finally drive the Stagea on the road Shame about all the crap you had to go through though Maybe you should bill them for your time
  4. blind-elk - the purpose of it was to lower the fuel presure so it wasn't running so rich while on boost.
  5. I remember reading an article in a magazine a fair while ago that one workshop found a cheapish way to lower the a/f ratio's by controling (to a degree !!) the fuel presure while on boost. I don't fully understand how it worked, but I presume it bled off some presure etc.. Actually, I think someone here on SAU had one installed for a while. A bit of a dodgy way if you ask me, I'd save myself the risk and get a S-AFC instead. J
  6. Maybe he was running the plates to see if the car was stolen ? Hence why he didn't pull you over.. I think we're pretty lucky here in Canberra, the police leave us alone unless to draw attention to yourself I was pulled over 3 days into having the R33, the officer made it pretty clear he was keeping an eye on me.. Went out of way to see which way I was turning etc... But at that stage I didn't have a front number plate on so it did look a bit sus... He pulled me over and gave him the transfer paperwork and he sent me on my way - he was good about it. J
  7. Gauges are now sold, as well as the matts. Just the bleed valve left. J
  8. If it's the same funtion as the snow/power button on the Stagea's, when in snow mode I think it stops it from changing into first gear (so you are less likey to spin the wheels when driving in snow). Not 100% about the power mode, but I'd say it just holds the gear further into the rev range. I'd be keen to see 0-100km/h differences between normal/snow/power modes J
  9. Ahh cool. No problems Prank, it's just that I happened to upgrade the firmware in my modem/router at the exact second that the furoms went down !! I was thinking that the firewall and all this Intrution detection crap blocked SAU for a second ! I almost had a fit !.. lol I was starting to get the shakes J
  10. Has SAU been crapping itself today or was it just me... Well my computer Cheers J
  11. Very cool - I might be heading the same way with mine. The head unit is 'OK' but I might ditch it.. The other thing I'm thinking about doing is getting a small portable MPG1/2 & MP3 player ( http://www.snazio.com/Links/PC.html ) and hook that into the spare inputs. But the portable player I'm looking at is $400 !! The other problem I have it the TV/monitor I have has only got one of those square IP-bus plugs on it.... And I have no idea which pin does what !! So I'm stuck to using the TV with the control box and crappy headunit.. So your dash has all 3 din units in the centre console? Did you relocate the climate control unit ? J
  12. Sounds good Paul, So have you got 3 units all up ?? The Alpine headunit, the aus dvd player, and the Carrozerria TV screen (that I suppose your just using as a monitor) ? Is that right? Or does the aus dvd player have it's own screen? J
  13. Was it a Police officer or a parking inspector ? If it was a police officer then yes. If a parking inspector then I'm not sure. J
  14. I've got a head unit and TV with GPS in the Stagea too.... Here is what I've found out about the GPS system (it's not much !). I rang Pioneer and they said that they did consider making maps/disks for Australia, but the cost was going to be somehting like $40 million + !!!, so they backed out of it Basically the GPS system won't work in Australia, nor will the TV if you have the TV/GPS version. Not only are the Jap TV's NTSC and we are PAL, but the audio and video are at different off-sets Soooo, this means that the screen can only be used as a monitor. If your set up is the same as mine, the control unit will be under the passengers seat, on mine it has a spare set on video and audio inputs so you can plug in a seperate player or tuner to it (it'll have to be a NTSC device). Mine also has the GPS 6 disk stacker in the back. It does read audio CD's, but only plays them out of the small (2 inch) speaker that the GPS uses On the control unit there is also a spare IPbus (or what ever they are called) socket that I'm going to see if it can be plugged into, hopefully it'll just thinks it a CD player and send the audio through the stereo. In the next few weeks I'll be dragging my DVD player outside to see if it's going to work also. One main problem is that you can't get any instruction manuals for them and if you do find some they are all in Japanese I don't even know how to change the clock settings on mine, let alone figure out how to turn on the AUX input...
  15. I'm confused on how the O2 sensor would cause the boost to surge at light throttle when cruising ? As the O2 sensor simply tells the ECU on what the A/F ratio should be when in closed loop. It has no control over boost levels. R32 GTSTT - in the end it's up to you what you want to do. If you want to drive it around wondering what it is then that's cool. Me, I'd take it to a workshop. The size of the turbo doesn't mean that you will get compressor surge. You could run a T76 on a RB20 and not get surge ! But if there's a big mismatch between the turbine and compressor wheels then you may see surge. J
  16. Umm, you could, but maybe the better thing to do is either take it in to a turbo expert for them to test it, or maybe figure out a way to disconnect the wastegate actuator and get it to hold itself wide open. But I think it still may generate a bit of boost this way (very late in the rev range, but still a bit). If it was me I'd get some expert advice. J
  17. Yepp, your getting compressor surge. It's usually most noticable around zero to low boost. Like what you explained when your cruising and your boost needle is jumping up and down. It's caused by a mis-match between the compressor and turbine wheels, and as stated before, your motor can't ingest all of the air. Are you sure that the problem wasn't there with the previous owner? Or are they just saying that it didn't have a problem before? You'll need to get the turbo off and get one or both of the wheels changed (talk to a expert about this). J
  18. Hahaha, if someone was honking their horn at me while I was washing the car, I'd give the car a really good slow wash. I'd even wash it two or three times just for the hell of it. Might even go to the change machine and make it look like it took my money and spend 10 minutes talking to the fella there to so it looks like I'm trying to get the money out of it.. I wouldn't have bothered about talking to the fools, just make them wait longer J
  19. Wagons rule
  20. Cool, thanks Gary. Sadly, custom usually means expensive J
  21. Gary1 - about the 3 1/2 inch exhaust. Is it the same as the R33 or R34 exhausts? Turbo to cat the same ? Cat back same ? Or did you get a custom exhaust made up? Cheers J
  22. That was from the local Jax Tyres. It was weird cause at the time they didn't have any in stock, so I rang the other two Jax's in Canberra and they were $15-20 more per tyre ! So I got the local Jax to order them in. Waited 2 days and saved $80 J
  23. I got them second hand a few months ago from someone in Sydney. $400 for the 4 rims with all the lock nuts etc.. Wasn't too bad, I've seen better bargins around but you've got to be quick. J
  24. I just got four 104's today (235/45/17), still scrubbing them in, but I'll let you know how they are in a few weeks. For the 4 fitted and balanced they cost me $700 ($175 a piece). J
  25. Thanks. Yeah they are much better than the stock ones.
