  1. You mean the silver buldge thing that is mounted to the outside of the cam gear cover, on the righhand side ?? If so, adjusting (turning) this will only adjust the ignition timing. J
  2. Cool - thanks. I did a quick ring around today and it looks like the price of insuring a 1997 Stagea RS four is about the same or a little bit less than insuring an R33 GTS-t. I was worried that it may be higher as they are rarer, but not so J
  3. Yepp, same here. Resale would always be on my mind.. I've still got a few options though, depending on insurance price a Stagea may be an option too
  4. Cool - sounds right JiVE. Anyone else ? Would anyone be dicouraged by buying a car that they know has had a auto-manual conversion ? J J
  5. Ahh, your right. Manual is 4.11 while I think the auto is 4.3.. Hmm, might have to investigate... J
  6. G'day Jive, I did a little bit of home work. The car that I'm thinking about was originally imported by a fella that used to post up on SAU. He sold it to someone else, and now that new person is selling it. I found the original owners SAU nick name, matched up the pictures and they were the same car. And in one of the posts that the original owner posted up he said that it had an auto to manual converstion done (takes breath...)... Apparently the conversion was done by a good workshop in Sydney, so it wasn't a back yard job The only things I can think of that may have an effect on the car is maybe the dash (the auto has lights saying D, N, R etc... (I think!), and I think the ECU's are different. Anyone else got any thoughts on this ? J
  7. Could be a few things going on at the sametime. Stock interheater restricting flow up high, stock dump pipe not liking the extra flow, and the stock actuator not being able to hold the extra boost up top. Interestingly, I had a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust (highflow cat) and a front mount intercooler and I still got the boost drop up top. I would say that in my case the actuator was flapping open... Simple fix for the actuator is to put a stock R32 GTS-t one on as they hold 10psi well (that's their factory holding presure). J
  8. OK guys, I need your thoughts on auto to manual conversions. More to the point of buying a car that has already had the conversion done oppose to buying a car that was manual from the factory. What are the bad points and what should be looked out for, both short term and long term (resale value etc..) Basically I'm sort of in the market for another R33, one has come up but it has had an auto to manual conversion done. Thanks J
  9. G'day Croat - we made the box fit around the intercooler pipe work. To install the box you have to disconnect one of the pipes and feed it through etc... Doing this keeps the box very stable and doesn't let it move around at all (it a tight fit !). So there's no need to screw the box down to the bodywork at all. J
  10. Gary - What's insurance like on the Stagea ?? J
  11. Yepp, sure do Here are a few more pics of it getting made up. The insulation stuff I got from Clark Rubber, not sure what it's called, but it was about $40 for a square meter. J
  12. Yepp, get the rest of the exhaust done first. Dump/front pipe and a high flow cat. Dump/front pipe all-in-one will be about $300, highflow 3 inch cat about $200. Put them on yourself to save some bucks. Then maybe a high flow panel filter (unless you already have one), or a cold air box for your pod (if you have one). Then get a 'good' bleed valve to up the boost. Then save some bucks for a FMIC or adj cam gear J
  13. LOL yeah, It's been about 2 years !! I found that the one that I made did reduce the noise a bit, but I think it had more to do with the insulation stuff that I used on the inside of the box. The insulation stuff is about 10mm think of foam, with one side being heat reflective foil. J
  14. G'day Advan, Would you be able to email me a heap of pictures etc? Email address is [email protected] Thanks J
  15. I know that the front pipe (between the dump and cat) is 2 1/4 inches. Not sure about the cat back part though. J
  16. Wow - that kit looks good !! Hay what's the insurance like on these ? Anyone know ?? J
  17. Spotted 2 black R33's today. First was down Tuggers way, black R33 GTS-t with GTR badges. Second was a 1993/94 GTS-t looked stock but had nice paint I didn't bother waving cause I'm driving around in a 1979 Cortina (how embarrassing!!!) and no one would recognise me J
  18. RS73 - pretty sure that warrenty returns and gifts are GST and import duty exempt. Best double check though. J
  19. From those pics it looks like a tube and fin cooler.
  20. That last picture is pretty bad. It would take a fair impact to cause that damage !.. As Roy said, it won't effect performance as the air is pushed through the tubes, and the fins are there to disapate the heat from the tubes, but it's still not good that it was damaged If the tubes are damaged I'd get the cooler presure tested before putting it on the car, that will show up any leaks etc... But by the looks of it, it was just the fins. J
  21. Yeah, me and a mate tried one for a R32 and it was a pain in the butt !! Too many wierd angles
  22. Sorry guys, looks like that address isn't hosting the templates anymore I've zipped the pics and instructions up into three zip files, just download them and extract them all. When you print the templates, just make sure you print them in full A4 size so you keep the original size. Cheers J
  23. Baaahahahah, that's classic.. Maybe he has a 'small man complex' ?
  24. Probably your HICAS computer. J
